You need 5 posts on the forum before you can PM rich, that's what's holding you up ATM.

But it's well worth doing - Stevies rep saved me over £400 :)

Hi all regulars and long time lurkers.

I just had a few questions:

    1. Isn't BundleBox giving a US address rather then UK? Or maybe it's just me not finding the right info, but if I google bundlebox I only get US address provider.

@steviejones133: Some time ago you mentioned Forward2me and they do seem to give you a UK address.

    2. Can I still use Your contacts (reps) even though I'm not a UK resident?

I gave BundleBox as an example of the type of service you would need to find so that you could get a UK address that would then forward your purchases on to you.

I don't know which freight forwarding service you could use, I would advise a bit of research and maybe even contact a few to ask them if they can assist. Explain to them that you need a UK address and then your item forwarding on to you in your country.

If all goes well with that, I dont see any reason why you cant use my rep but I dont want to give out false information regarding to the delivery of your machine.

BTW guys - 680m is up on Dell UK. I'm gonna see if its available in sli on the 18x and will get back to you....

Just an update. Although SLI is not visible on the UK website, it can be added manually now for the M18x R2 - UK website price from my contact is to be £1020 (£850+vat) which is more than what I was expecting....it actually doesnt make sense for it to be THAT much more than one card...if its £430 for one card & heatsink, surely it shouldnt cost that MUCH more for SLI...my maths says that 2 cards and 2 heatsinks should be around £860 so that means the SLI ribbon is costing £160 LOLOL - mind you, looking at a single 675m vs. 675m SLI, thats also alot more than double the cost of a single so I guess its in line with Dells pricing strategies.

Saying that, it annoys the hell outta me that in the US, single 680m is $550 and SLI is simply double the cost.....this just isnt fair pricing!

    Its £430 for a single 680m in the 17x.....

So, those of you who want to order from the UK/Ire, you can PM me and I can see if my rep can help out, if you like.

So for 680m SLI does your rep accept arms , legs , kidneys etc ??

I would of thought the pricing would of been inline with desktop GPU's as a guide. Early adopter and price gouging withstanding :p

Hahaha - I would have to sell my organs too at those prices. I knew that they were gonna cost alot more than AMD as they always do. what is unfair though is that Dell's weird pricing sees us pay alot more than double the cost of a single gpu for SLI.

Guys in the US just simply pay double the cost of a single which really peeves me off....if it were the same in the UK, £860 would be far more realistic vs. £1020.

It's still a massive mark up from the 7970m though, would have to be a hell of a performance increase to justify it IMHO

Pricing aside , I would still be interested in seeing the figures for the 4gb VRAM version versus the 2gb VRAM version in single and SLI mode , cos its bugging me ;)

Whats the reason that Dell aren't offering the 4gb VRAM version ??

Not sure. TBH, from what I've read up on the differences, it actually wont make much of a difference. It's also possibly cheaper for Dell to acquire the 2gb versions....

Here's a quick pic guys, sorry it isn't great. AlienFX set to light green. One thing that I notice which all pics I've seen don't convey is this machine is a beast and big! However it is totally portable, and not too heavy (can have it on your lap, and move it about with ease), I know many reviews have the weight as a 'con', but I wouldnt agree with that tbh. The quality of the laptop is exceptional, keyboard feels so smooth and the AlienFX is an awesome feature. I came from a 15" Macbook Pro, and thought I wouldn't change from Apple, however this is another level imho.

    Hello budgiebowler

I am planning of buying a M17x R4 with the exact specs you have listed above. The only difference is that rather than paying over £2000 for it online, stevies rep offered it to me for £1630. If you don't need an M18x R2, then I suggest that you get the M17x R4. Either way speak with stevies rep and see how much he can save you :)

My warranty was up at the start of June.

They quoted me £175 which is a bloody disgrace.

Anyone got any advice on how to haggle to get the price down?

Lots of things you could say, for example find another computer company that has a warranty of the same time span for less money and get him to price match (say well if it costs that much I would rather go with computer X)
    ------
Another would be to say you really want to buy this computer but your worried about busting it or something and tell the rep you would rather not buy it if you can't get the warranty cheaper.
    ------
These sales reps are on commission all you have to do is make them believe that lowering the price will make you buy the computer I personally do not condone outright lying however.

Looks like everything is not quite everything - I cant see the 18x discounted....

Guys, please note that I'm pretty sure that this cannot be "stacked" with additional rep. discount....its one or the other generaly..... but on the whole, rep discount works out more....

Stevie - reasonably long-time UK-based lurker, looking to place an order. Was stuck for a long time between an o/c OriginPC EON-17s (pro?) lappie or the o/c AW M18 R2 with 3920XM. I work for myself and a lot of my time is spent on very large financial models which tend to need higher processor speeds and larger RAM to go through the grind. I have spent the last 6 months remoting into my home desktop as it was significantly quicker, but now that the ivy bridge mobile CPU's have come out, I am ready to make the step to get fully mobile again.

Is your rep able to help? What details do you need?

    Muchas gracias,

Hi! Does anyone have ordering advice for us Canadians? alienware.com currently has better promotions than alienware.ca does and so I am looking to order through them however the window to take advantage of tehse deals is quickly diminishing. Are customs fees covered by free shipping promos, I have found coupon codes that will give me a leg up on price adjustment? I need a computer pretty soon and so I am in a bit of a hurry.
The model I am specifically looking at is the M17X R4 with AMD Radeon 7970,
i7 3610QM, 8GB of memory, and 750GB 7200RPM HDD, this comes out to about $1849 U.S. at the moment.

    Stevie,

Order placed...while multi-tasking on conference calls - your chap is very easy to deal with. It's a work PC, so a toss-up between money savings from bringing it in from the US versus comfort of dealing entirely with local entity was resolved by a more than decent price.

M18x-r2, 3920XM o/ced, GTX 680M (I listened to either you on salebility, or the devil on my left shoulder, or both), blu-ray - base spec otherwise but it will get a further kick up the rear when it arrives courtesy of 32gb of RAM and 2 x 256 Sammy 830s that are sitting waiting already.

    Digit100100

Oh and I can't believe I forgot to say this, but Many Thanks!
