Hello everyone,
First off, I just want to say that Stevie has a really nice thing going on here. I've seen lots of very helpful posts.
Right, on to my thing:
I saw a post a while ago by Qqz saying that he wants to order from romania. Sadly, I am also from romania and I would like to ask if he or anyone from outside UK (but within EU) was successful placing an order.
This really should not be an issue. For example, a clevo re-seller in germany has no problems shipping anywhere in the EU for only 35 eur p&p (and just a few days waiting time)
I know, it's not an alienware I have in my example, but if I have no one in the UK or US, I am not going to pay almost 2x list price, just because I live in a country.
Don't get me wrong, I would prefer an M17xR4 but if I cannot order straight up and considering the price and the waiting time... things kind of build up and break the deal.

For those looking for help outside the UK without UK addresses, I strongly suggest you contact the Dell guys over on this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/669327-alienware-sales-assistance-thread-redux.html as they are able to help out people in Europe now. -
Can I just thank Stevie for his assistance. I have ordered my m18x through his contact and got a cracking price.
3 weeks wait now so it seems
I am looking at getting the OCZ Agility 3 SSD to replace the standard drive. Does anyone know if there are better drives out there, also what memory would be good to put in, i have 8GB with the laptop when it arrives
Thanks again Stevie -

I havent heard good things about the Agility 3. Ask Mr. Fox - he had two in Raid 0 and he was NOT impressed LOL. Better drives would be maybe any of the following: Sammy 830, Crucial M4, Intel 520, Vertex 4 and maybe a few others....
Ram wise, I have no issues with my HyperX from Kingston. Seen plenty of problems from folk with Corsair Vengenace. -

It'll be worth the wait, Matt....glad it hasnt affected your EDD - normally, you would get it before that date....once Dell have emailed you the tracking link, after its shipped, its pretty damn quick.

OMG! - Matt, I hope that some Spanish dude hasnt got your machine for free LOL.....that's weird, especially as it was over a year ago it was delivered LMAO! - at least the delivery date is Monday...WOOOHOOOO!!!
Remind me, what machine did you order with what gpu? -
I think the Monday delivery date will be incorrect too seeing as it seems to be in Korea today - although it would be nice.

750GB HDD
6GB RAM
EDIT: ...Killer Wireless card too.
I will be adding an SSD next week myself, not sure which one to go for yet. My budget will probably be around £150. Then I will also add 16GB of RAM but again, not sure which RAM to go for yet. -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
You will be surprised how quickly these packages make it from Shanghai to the UK .... at least I hope you will! LOL
-
16GB of Ram, i know you bought this for gaminhonestly if your only gamin with system then i dont think you will need more ram then stock 6GB, But yes if ur doin video editin (special large video files) than 16GB will worth.

I do a little bit of photo editing and web design so it might come in handy lol. -

M4's are a great choice of drive. Heard lots of good stuff about them and my previous Crucial SSD (C300) was also very good. Shouldnt go far wrong there....

Hello.
Have a Question about Dell, that you might be able to answer:
Why have the dell.co.uk site stopped allowing the "Nebula Red" color for the M18x ?

Hi Stevie, am looking to purchase my second M18X soon as I have had my R1 for over a year now and when it was released, I rushed into buying it with 460m sli which weren't bad cards, over-clocked nicely. But I do love to blast up the graphics as much as I can. Guessing I should just throw you a PM about your rep?

Was hoping to buy an alienware refurb but I haven't seen any posted on the UK site within the last couple of weeks.
Might have to PM you Steve Jones and buy new if the price can be dropped within budget, curse VAT and recession. -

Hi all,
I put in an order for an M17x over the weekend. I am excited! I believe I received a really good deal - Steve, I was going to wait until I made five posts and send you a PM but when I saw how much I saved my cravings got the better of me, hehe.
My total order should have been £2818.29 - I went for quite a few of the upgrades and the 3 year service plan / accidental damage - but after my discounts the price was £2093.40. I maybe should have weighed up my options to see how much your rep could have got me it for, but to be honest I just went for it in the endTake a look:
I used voucher code T31Z1GR7S?HFCN to receive a 10% discount.
I saved £195 as the base laptop I chose was a "Dell Deal". I found these by mistake - these are hidden on the site! Go on the Alienware laptop page ( Gaming Laptops - Customise a Powerful Alienware Laptop | Dell UK), and on the left, where it says "Refine your Search", click on "17" and up". This seems to take you to a very hidden "deals" page that you can't find otherwise. At the moment there are three deals - save £160, £140 and £195. I chose the £195 option as that came with 8GB RAM and a larger hard drive. My original plan was to get the standard RAM and HDD and upgrade myself later but it made much more sense to upgrade them if they were part of the deal. I guess the down side for some of you may be that you're paying more as you get the 3720QM as standard but I was planning to upgrade to this CPU anyway. My advice though would be to spec your laptop with all three deals as it's a bit, err, "dodgy", and the upgrades cost different amounts and it's actually possible to save MORE with a supposedly weaker deal.
I received 8% EPP. I know most of you can't get this. However, if you can, normally the voucher codes don't work in conjuction with EPP but they do with this one. So if you're interested and are eligible for EPP then I'd go for it!
