Yea, they really are. It's time for me to try them again since I cancelled my order with HIDevolution.

But my budget is like 2,300 or around there.
    2720qm
    3d screen/nvdia card
    4 years warranty including accidental
    blu ray card/Intel wireless 6300

This is like £3,000 which is like $4,700. :D

I got his details..was planning to call him tommorow morning. I'm still trying to decide if I might as well wait until next week.

Given the new systems that most likely come out and it's april..who knows.

I wish there was a way that I can get the 10% cashback by ordering it online and then change the specs without cancelling it. That might save me 200 pounds or somthing along with the discount the sales guy would give.

I do think that such an order on HIDevolution Blaze of this configuration:

    i7 2720QM, 6970M, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, 1080p 60 Hz, Intel Wireless 6300, 1 year warranty

    $2,004.00 = 1420 euro

    The same configuration in France:

    2559 euro = $ 3610

All right I ordered it again and the best thing about it is that it will only take around 10 to 12 days since it's already half built(since I cancelled it a week ago)

My spec cost me around 2,200 pounds and in web price that was 2,753 pounds.

And also, its a US keyboard and not UK....not sure if even the PSU is US and requires a US to UK adaptor .....

And, personally, I wouldnt get Hidevolution to put a customs value of only £500 on it incase it goes missing or damaged. The your. S.O.L!!

Does anyone know of a way to buy a laptop from the UK (through one of the reps mentioned in the OP), and then have it shipped somewhere else? I don't have an address in the UK, it would have to be Dell doing it...

    PM sent.
Not sure. If you know someone in the UK who will take delivery of it and then forward/ship it on to you, that might work. I know my reps deal with UK purchases but I will check....

So, how exactly do you haggle? Ring them up and say I'm looking for an M14x, and my budget is £xxx, what can you do?
If so, what do I do if they say, 'Well it costs, £1098 so that's how much you gotta pay'?

Hey Guys, just copying and pasting this from a new thread that i posted in the M15x section to save typing it up again.....

Ive just came off the phone to alienware tech support to sort out an issue with my touchpad. Anyway, whilst on the phone, i asked for a price for a 9 cell battery whilst on the phone.... approx £120. The tech guy said that he would have a look on another system and phone me back.

I've just placed an order on the phone for £74.02 delivered.

Part number ordered: CPL-F3J9T (M15x Battery)

Hopefully that might save someone in the UK some dollar if they need a new battery

    Ryan

I have another query. For an M14x, how much should I look to get off it? With base specs.
And for an M15x priced at £1050, how much should I expect to be knocked off that?

Normal reps will NOT haggle - its an Alienware so the price to them is justified. If you get one that may "negotiate", you may find that they *MAY* discount by up to a max of 5%

I use the ole motto that "if you dont ask, you dont get" - you have nothing to lose by asking and if you get a knock back, hang up and try again.

Again, unless you get through to a good rep, chances are you will get "stone-walled" when asking for discount.#

As with most things in life, the more you spend, the more chance you have of getting more discount. Im not saying that your chosen system is cheap by any standards but when you consider that there are people out there who spend upwards of £5000 on a single laptop, you can see where I am coming from eh?

If you want details of a good rep, read post #1 on the first page of this thread and drop me a PM. I cant promise how much you would get "knocked off" but I can tell you that I know a few VERY good UK reps that COULD help reduce the cost of your new system.

    Steve.

First of all is fundamental to talk with the right rep, and Steve can definitely help you with this. ;)
Before I was aware of this thread I've already tried to made the purchase through phone, but with no luck, I've spoke with 3 different reps, and the better discount I've achived was a miserable 50€.
They'd rather not sell the machine.
So first and most important thing, contact Steve and he will give you some good rep contact.

Then it's about your negotiation skills, and don't be afraid of asking explicitly for discount.

If they're irremovable show them that you're MORE than them, and don't hesitate to hang up (very kindly of course, saying that you're not interested at that price), and you will see that eventually they will call you back with a better discount. ;)

I'm pretty sure reps are the same for the UK/Irish market, mine's signature was indeed UK/Irish sales rep, but I don't know about the shipping question.

    Hope this helped! :)

    Ok Thanks. Will do.

Seems like a strange rule that. I've had all my questions answered just by reading through the forum and I'm now ready to buy. Am I supposed to make up random, pointless posts just for the sake of it in order to qualify for PM priveliges? Perhaps that's one reason why the same questions keep getting asked over and over in these forums. So be it. :)

I'm a mod in another forum. Such measures are usually in place to prevent new users from spamming PMs, which would originate huge amounts of spammed PMs from bots.

At least I think that's the reason. I'm a mod, not an admin ;)
