I received a 10% discount on my M14x order through Steve's rep. Thanks Steve, happy days
-
Sorry, newly registered but been lurking these forums for a while now, planning on buying a m14x but price is quite high so wondering how i can pm stevie for his rep.
That would be amazing as i phoned dell rep and he couldnt give me any discount -
There is also cashback site to save money. I think it was 10%.
Dell CashBack: Free Maximum CashBack 10.1%
Also what about student discount it seems to be 8%(for over 1,200). I'm a student so was hoping for a discount.
Dell EMEA Employee Purchase Program (EPP) - Frequently Asked Questions | Dell UK
I did ask a rep who was offering me 10% discount but he said that adding more than one discount is not allowed.
Going to try this with another rep since if I could get 18% discount or more that would be great. -

You should know that speaking to lots of reps wont get you very far. They all have records of their dealings with you and if they see you as a timewaster, they wont bother to offer you a good deal.
My advice is to limit the amount of "contact" you make.....sure, everyone wants a good deal but endless phoning around various reps and hanging up only pisses them off.....trust me, Ive heard it from the reps themselves.
They wont combine discounts....for example, if they offer you 10% they wont allow you to use an online code AS WELL!
You really wont find any reps that are gonna hand out 18% just 'cos you have phoned and asked them to.....heck, ive had replacement problems and even after that, not always do they offer you that much....what makes YOU think that by endless calls, your gonna get a rep who gives you 18%+ ?????
Ive known people spend well over £6000 and dont get that kind of discount...your dreaming if you think your gonna get it on a plate.....10% is a good amount off....maybe 15% if you have a HUGE order....
Dont wish to sound harsh but its the truth.... -
In my entire time the I had about 5 reps at best so not sure where your getting this.
Also using that cashback site(which is very good and I've been using that site for a while) along with the student discount is already 18% without any rep whatsoever.
Right now still not good enough for me but maybe it is for someone else so I posted it.
Anyway HID is pretty much my first option for now. Right now though I'm not in a hurry to get it. -

All im saying Gaj is that the more reps you phone up to try and get discount, the less likely you are to get it. I know and you know that you have spoken to my rep on a few occassions. He knows this and he also knows that you have spoken to many other reps too.
They have a thing called "customer ownership" where the first point of contact will normally "own" that customer and any business created from ANY contact.
Basically, from a salespersons point of view, you can understand not wanting to bust a gut to give a good deal if you arent gonna get the credit for it, right?
Same prinicipal applies here - the more people you contact to try and get a better deal, the more times your contact gets noted and the reps arent stupid...they know what you are doing and will be less inclined to deal with you.
All i am saying is that if you get a good deal/offer, dont go calling around other reps trying to better it because they wont compete against each other....thats common sense...
Good luck with HID, you seem to not be able to make your mind up WHERE you wanna buy from... -
Thats some saving. -
Not sure where your going with this. I posted this for people who wanted an easier method especially with the 10% cashback/8% discount.

I know that they cant "combine" discounts like EPP and online voucher codes, its one or the other basically - they do not add the two together and THEN discount - which is unfortunate.
Funny cos I was asking my rep the same thing as I had a 10% code in my mailbox and was thinking "hmmmmmmmmmm...nice! but alas, cant be done.
You know pretty much how it works Amo, the more you spend, the more discount they can offer.....
My reps are good but they cant work the impossible. 18% is a heck of a discount and unless you have a HUGE order, they just wont do it.....you know yourself from dealing with my rep dontcha! -
Ah, I see.

It was the last rep I talked to actually.
I'm a bit lucky that I got offered a free laptop from Student Fianace and the specs are decent(in terms of browsing/movies/work) and protable therefore I'm not in a hurry to get a laptop anymore as before.
So now I can freely wait or just forget about it for now. -

But since I'm getting a laptop I can save over 2000 pounds and save it for a while. That free laptop might not be for gaming but it will work for a while. -
Ordered my M14x today and happy with the discount offered by your guy.
According to the order acknowledgement, my expected delivery date is 1st June which is just over 2 weeks away. Is it likely to arrive sooner than this?
Thanks

I have been lurking on the forums for sometime but thought I would post something
As I need to get up to 10 posts before I can send a PM, I thought I would ask a question.
From what I have gathered from the posts in this thread, Stevie's reps are able to give a discount between 10-15%. I don't suppose there's a ballpark figure which determines the discount percentage you get. -

As a guide, i would say that any order worth over £2000 should ensure you a good discount....maybe 10% upwards....probably no more than 20-25% very tops regardless of order size.
So, you get a rough idea...the more you spend, the more you save....
PM me when you can and I will hook you up! -
steviejones133 said: ↑I can tell you that the more you spend, the more likelihood of discounts. Goes without saying really. If you are looking at a £6k setup, there is more room for discounting. If you are after a basic M11x, theres not much room for discount offers.....

I was thinking more of a high end M17xR3 or M18x. The reason I asked is that the more you pay the bigger the discrepancy between the price in the UK and say the US/Asia. Sometimes it's large enough that you could pay for a flight there, buy the item and still have enough spending money
Of course a discount will "balance" this off but there's a sweet spot when it's not worth grabbing a flight etc. As a rough guide, there's a £1k difference between a M18x configured in the UK compared to Asia.
I will PM you once I am able. -

The other thing to consider is Her Majesty's share when you bring it into the UK if you import, the hassle of swapping keyboards (unless you like US layout) and , well other pitfalls.
Your right, there is a definite "sweet spot" where buying from the Uk at the right price does actually outweigh the import option. You still may pay a bit more but it will be a full UK system and, when it comes to resale, I think thats pretty important.
Anyway, I never try and sway anyone one way or the other, I just try an point out the pros and cons and help out with a good rep. The rest is up to the individual.
Ive had people turn down my reps good offers in lieu of importing - thats their lookout. At the end of the day, everyone is entitled to do what they want.
If my guy/s can be of help, its well worth looking at anyway before you pull the trigger on anything.
Speak soon. -
Thanks Stevie. My M14x arrived today - just 7 days after confirming my order with your sales rep. Great service and great price. +1 Rep.

Im really p*ssed that i didnt see this thread. I was delighted that i persuaded the guy to throw in the £86 bag and £70 Tactx mouse for free. Tbf i got that by just asking, once. I didnt have to push for it at all. So there is discounts to be had without Stevies rep, even though that is probably the best route to take.
Ordered on the 19th. Went into production today, EDD the 16th. Hopefully it will come before then.
Also, i like to make the reps think im torn between there product and someone elses. I mentioned that Asus give you a bag, mouse and Windows 7 ultimate as standered, not to forget a bluray burner.
Worked for me. -
hey all. looking at an alienware and like you guys was slightly miffed about the price compared to other places.
as such i shall now find 10 things to post -
to save you haggling with reps you can get 10% off with a voucher and another 10% with quidco.
Really tempted to get a m14x but the fan noise is really putting me off -
no you cant. it excludes alienware
-
11 posts and i still cant PM
edit: disregard. have to wait until tonight i think. -

May be worth pointing out the 10% cashback offer works through Top CashBack - The UK's #1 Free CashBack Site as well.
I've recently received my base spec m11x R1, which after cashback came to £460. Pretty good value IMO. -
Just a quick post of my experience. Ordered an m11x r3 last night, spoke to a random rep on the phone, the best he could do was free shipping....
Browsed the forums and saw this thread. Contacted Steve, emailed his rep, who was'nt working at the time, ask him to call me. In the meantime my original rep called back, offering me £50 off (this is an upgraded r3 coming to £1139.98, plus a carry case)
Again declined and hung up, saying my budget was £1000 only. He said no way can he or anyone go that low. I said "never mind and thank you"
30mins later i get another call back, saying he can go as low as £1015, i stuck to my guns claiming all i had on my credit card was £1000 balance.
Just before there 9pm close, i get ANOTHER call back with a price of £990 that i took and placed my order.
This morning Steves rep phoned, explaining he was'nt working last night. On his system he could see my order had gone through. Told me i got a good deal, but he could of done a little better.
Moral of the story - use Steves rep even if your a confident haggler.
Rep anyway Steve, Thanks -

Hey fellas, not to hijack the thread or anything, but just a little comment:
For those in the UK looking for a better price. You can look at my practically new M11x-R3 (1.5 months old). I'm letting it go for $875USD, which is something like $540 British Pounds. If anyone is interested have a look:

Either way, good luck with your purchases and landing some good deals!

I've been looking at these forums for a while now but I'm guessing you need 10 or more posts to PM people?
I'm thinking of orderinng a basic M11x tonight, was hoping for your reps details steve -
Wow it's a shame that I did not come here earlier
Just placed an order for the m14x and the rep who talked to me basically just put the epp discount on and that's it
Steve do you think I should cancel my order and contact your rep ? It is still "work in progress" (not "in production") so I can still cancel if I want to -
