Any idea on how much you would be selling it Stone? :)

I just checked out the Alienware site, and they did slash the price of the m9750 by including the 1900 res screen and the 160 gb hard drive as "free" upgrades.

Been a while since I was able to get online, good to see your finally made some progress with alienware. As for your desktop setup, i would hold off on getting a quad core. I'm sure whatever you need it for will be manageable with 4ghz dual core. Then a little later next year you can can get a x58 motherboard and use the new I7 cpus. Thats what I'm doing for my custom rig. If you decide on nvidia instead of radeon, at leasts make sure you get a 55nm version

Well when I get my new M9750 I'm selling it on these forums (and ebay) and then buying the gateway 17" with the 9800GTS.

The 9800GTS is slower than the 9800GT/8800GTX... Just so you know ;)

actually, you're wrong. the 9800m-gts has higher clocks than the 9800m-gt/8800m-gtx, because it uses a better (e.g. "less nanometers") manufacturing process. however, it also has less shading units/stream processors/whatever-they're-called-these-days, so the overall performance is, despite the higher clocks, a tad worse.

well, you said "slower", which is wrong, because it's in fact "faster" in terms of clock speeds. however, it is less powerful.

    and yes i know i'm nitpicking :p

The 9800GTS has got to be almost equal to 8700GT SLi (AW informed me that they could not give my 7950GTX's). Anyways, what would you guys rather have?

Outdated processor, 2.5GB ram limitation, SLi headache. or... New processor (can be upgraded), 4GB ram limitation (AFAIK), No SLi.

But yes I know that the 9800GTS is slower then the 8800GTX brainer knows me well. Anyways... I haven't been on much because of school but I try to hop on from time to time. I'm not as "in the loop" anymore so my knowledge of newer products is lacking sometimes so I haven't been able to help many people out and haven't had time to write any more guides.

It's still stronger than dual 7950's, no? So, either way, it's an upgrade.

They don't have any slave 8700GT's so that's what I'm waiting for. Offered to ship the 8700GT Slave separate at a later date but I would rather all at once.

Still don't have my laptop ready. It's November 2nd. I started this all on July. 14th...

This laptop has just become outdated by me not having it for however many months it has been. Never been treated like such a ***** by a company. I cannot recommend AW to anyone considering they basically have you bend over while they **** you in the ***.

For example, they need to get a slave 8700GT. How long does it take to find one...

Already told me that I was going to get a M9750 with Dual 8700GT's. Honestly I am so behind in my design work that I have lost many opportunities in school. For example there is a sports day called PC/GA day. Instead of splitting the work with a friend he is currently doing all of it so I just lost that for my transcript. (I needed a laptop because the people wanted to see the editing at school so they could make critiques easier).

AW has ****ed over my design work completly and all the want to do is take forever to build me a new system...

Expect a LONG post about this.

Tell them that you have a tight schedule and if they aren't able to get that slave 8700M GT, demand for the M17. Talk to their manager if you can. That usually helps.

It's unfortunate that your situation has been so...well....SH!##$. You can however take pleasure in knowing that you are helping out a lot of people with your discussions on this forum.

I have been an Alienware fan since 1996ish when they first came out. Around 3 years ago i was able to afford my first alienware in laptop form. The PC was great, but there service was less than satisfactory. I now own a new M9750 and it too is doing well. However, after following your story, I will never buy an Alienware again.....ever.

I have a stern stance on how companies should operate and Alienware has proven itself time and again to be questionable. So I just want to say thanks for all the posts and encourage you to keep posting until the situation is finished completely. People need to be made aware of the type of company Alienware really is.

By the way just to clear it up with everyone I am getting a new M9750 with Dual 8700GT's instead of 7950GTX's. The hang up right now is that on Oct 30th i was told there wasn't a 8700GT slave available so I'm waiting on that.

God dammit I can't sell it now. AW is selling their brand new M9750s for $1500 and $1700 which are equally spec'd or better than mine so I'm gonna just open it and finally get back to my photoshop work (for some reason doing photoshop work on 1920x1200 is a lot better than dual 1680x1050). Most likely because my dual monitors are different colors (that is the shades are a little off)

uses a 9800m gs which is just a underclocked 9800m gts, but the clocks are still higher than the old 8800m gts. All the cards still use 64 shader cores. This laptop will be on sale all next week till the following sunday for 1024$.

I'm still an AW fan, but I've never bought a new AW, and never will. Becouse the bigger price doesn't worth the shtty tech support. I can fix everything myself, and I'm better off.

It's pretty easy to change a mobo or a video card on a laptop. As for the parts, you can find everything on ebay pretty cheap.

You'll struggle to find m15x parts on ebay, especially if you wait until you need them. Agree it's not that hard to change them, but as AW don't sell spares...

And I think a good company offers support for the second owners too. This way they can keep the sh prices up, and keep the premium image of the company. I'm a BMW fan too, and I had a lot of them, and always loved their support towards costumers.

Sorry. I just saw that I had an answer hidden in the messages. So the M9750 mobo is discontiued. AW support: Good, becouse of the answer.
Bad, becouse you can't buy a mobo if you're out of warranty.
Anyways I'm still an AW fan :)
