Yes, if you don't mind (unless the thread "owner" wants otherwise)
That would be easier to find.

Ok i just got off the phone, today they said to call for the status. they told me my order will be delayed till end of june, as so will others. They said they ran out of basic parts and wont get another shipment till mid june. Then they will build and tht will put me at end of june....im so mad that i told them what the hell happened to shipment on june 4th, and they just BSed about how its on very high demand, higher than they thought(what every company says when a new product comes out). So after complaining she told me she would call me when the parts come in and put the system through rush building and rush overnight delivery, so hopefull ill get it around june 15-20th, oh well. And dont threaten to cancel your order, they wont give you anything free
-
How you don't expect high demand for parts like the 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo, and Geforce 7950GTX is beyond me, but at least there being honest now.
And I think I'll give the free stuff a shot anyway, you never know...LOL
Sounds like I will be giving there customer service department hell over the next few weeks.....
Update: I just got off the phone with AW:
They claim my order should be entering the production phase in 24-48 hours, please call back on Wed. or Thursday for a better update.
However, I don't know how accurate ths is, since the person swears phase 3 is pre production and phase 4 is production, when their website says:
Phase 3: (Payment Processed)
Payment has been received and the order is now in queue for production.
Phase 4: (Pre-Production)
The inventory that will be used to custom build the PC is being pulled and inspected. In the rare occurrence that a PC component is not readily available, you will be notified via email.
Phase 5: (Production Phase 1 - Assembly)
Your system is being hand-built by an Alienware Assembly Technician. Alienware takes great pride in building our systems, as our motto reflects, "build it as if it were your own." The assembly stage can take some time, as all the components and cabling in the system is carefully installed for greater upgrade flexibility and thermal airflows. Every Assembly Technician has been trained and qualified to Alienware standards. We pride ourselves on giving you a high performance computer system!

Maybe hes just new...
Either way, I hope he is right. -
ahahah just like they told me my laptop will be done this week, i think they are full of it, they are trying to dely you so you wont cancel, or maybe you got your order on time and got lucky, who knows, im just gonna wait and expect only the worst. I am also bugging the hell out of AW customer service, mainly because they kept telling me not to worry about it being delivered june 4th and now they wanna pull another month out of me. Im gonna call them again tonight and raise a little more hell, why not.
-
I have no problem with that Chaz. Thanks!
-
Anyone else get any updates on their order? Im curious as to how everyone else is going order wise.
-
What phase does the website have you listed on?
-
phase 2 but the rep said the online status is very delayed and that im going into phase 4, which will take till mid june to get parts for.
and im very mad because they got my order wrong! i asked them to read back my config to double check because they are retards working there and they messed up what i wanted, they gave me the xga instead of the uxga, and the 24x drive instead of the dual layer 8x drive and still charged me 2800!!! there goes more delaying now.... -
I'm gonna order mine in July, thinking about the following:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2.0)
Genuine Windows® XP Professional (I'm not upgrading to Vista until SP1)
17" WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz - 2 x 512MB (gonna upgrade to 4GB when I get Vista)
200GB (100GB x 2) Serial ATA 1.5Gb/s 7,200 RPM
Dual 512MB NVidia® GeForce™ Go 7950 GTX
for $3,478.00
The turning point for me is that its 2600 Euros which is a bargain for me, I'm Delivering it to my Uncle who is visiting me in July/August who will smuggle it past philipino customs -
Did you order online or over the phone?
I'm calling them back tomorrow afternoon, to see if they were lying or not about building this week. -
yea i ordered over the phone, and nice setup phritz. They officially told me that im delayed till around mid june because they are doing major testing to make sure the laptops work well and to get parts. If this is true im fine with that, i want a working computer. She told me to just call back next week june 4th to check again. As for my order being wrong, its fixed now(yea right) and its allllllllll going well....
-
Well, I guess a working computer in a month beats a piece of junk tomorrow. They should still offer something for compensation for the delay though.
-
Im wondering if the m9750 will be able to be upgraded to the new 45nm cpu's from intel or even a quad core in the future?
-
Just to let you know, the Superman Returns laptop is NO LONGER offered by Alienware. Look it up on their site.

So now there is only one 17" model left on thier site, the 9700.
The official launch of the 9750 can't be far away.
The two will probably coexist, since one is AMD and the other Intel.
And the 45nm update is unlikely. Does intel plan to release any other processors on the current notebook platform? (Quad Core in particular?)
Also, DirectX 10 support is almost definite. -
Well, looks like I'm in the same boat as you guys. I was supposed to receive mine on the 4th of June, and now who knows??? Here is there official response, I always try to get it in writing.
I agree with Halo, I would rather have a delayed sorted machine, than an high dollar headache... -
Question: Does anyone know the exact specifications for the RAM in the 9750 (Speeds accepted, # of pins, name, Latency)
Correct me if I'm wrong:
667MHz max (for proccesor), Pins I'm not sure, 200?, Name= SO-DIMM?, Latency =4? -
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
The M9750 takes 200-pin SO-DIMM modules, DDR2-667 is the fastest that they'll run at because the processor's FSB is 667MHz. The timings are 5-5-5, but not sure of the last number. It is usually 15 but it varies sometimes.
-
Thanks for the quick response
also, what is the difference (if any) between DDR2 5300 & DDR2 5400. They are both listed on newegg has 667 MHz -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145157 -
Yeah, thats what I was looking at. (Probably will get it if alienware ever decides they would like to ship the laptop)
Would this work too (2, obviously)
(The PC5300, Pc5400 thing was what I did not understand)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227236
By the time AW ships, maybe two of those will cost the same as the Corsair set. LOL -
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
That designation number (ex: 5300) is calculated by multiplying the DDR frequency of the memory by eight. So:
667 * 8 = 5336
You don't see PC5336 memory floating around . . . so, manufacturers round that number. Most of the time it is rounded down to 5300, although some choose to go to 5400. Regardless, it's the same memory.

Isnt that bad then that we cant upgrade the processors? wont the intel core 2 duo's became dated? then what happens? we trash our m9750's? I will just be using this for gaming, and will put in the best vid cards, but wont the 2.0ghz core 2 duo become outdated soon?
-
this is the ram I picked up at: http://shop1.outpost.com/product/5178766
$30.99 for 1gb of ddr2 patriot 5300 ram with free shipping! This is probably the best deal u can get with no rebates involved. -
While it (The processor) will become dated, it's still going to be decent for quite a while. The PC I'm typing this on has a 2.4 G Hz Pentium 4 (Northwood), and it still runs all but the newest RTS, driving, and Flight Simulator 2004 on High settings. It can run Flight Simulator X on medium low.
Meaning, while there will be much faster tings coming out, The core 2 Duos will still hold their own for a while.
And, I've never seen a notebook that you can change the CPU on physically, or at the very least you can't change it without voiding the warranty. -
Yea well im hoping to get this thing to last me about 4 years. 4 years of gaming with the graphics settings cranked up, you think it will last for high gaming this long to the very least?
-
It will probably make at least medium-high for that long.
Now, if you upgrade to 2 or 4 GB RAM and possibly a DX10 card, it should make 4 years easily. -
yes i was planning to upgrade to sli dx10 cards and more ram, and everything but the processor, i was just worried the processor would ruin gaming for me 4 years down the road.
-
"Ruin" is probably an exaggeration, but I don't know if it would be to much of a bottleneck with DX10 SLI
-
Any updates on m9750 status anyone?
-
dang it this cpu might bottleneck sli dx10????????
As for updates i am calling them tonight, but i still think everyone is delayed till mid june, i dont know what is going on but i may tonight, ill post later. -
It may or may not, since notebook DX10 cards are not yet available, there isn't really anything definite to go on. The desktop CPUs have diffrent clock speeds, etc, so you can't do a perfect comparison.
Its not to say you won't get benefit out of two DX10 cards, but it may not be worth, depending on the graphics card(s) you use. -
Alright got an update on my m9750 ordered on 5/20. They told me it should start production tomorrow, latest friday, and told me that it may not ship on june 4th as said but will ship sometime next week, between june 4th and june 8th. Im hoping the guy was right!!! Anyone else got any updates on theirs?
-
I plan on calling tomorrow afternoon, if they tell me anything new I will post it.
Heres hoping they are all entering production this week... -

When i decide to upgrade to sli, does alienware ship the part to me and i just install it myself? Also since im upgrading the RAM on my own, do i have to tell alienware about it? I dont want to void my warranty.
-
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
I think you do have to tell Alienware you updated the RAM; you might as well send them an email and find out.
-
Looks like you have to report to them what you have upgraded. anyone have any more updates on their orders? i want to see if im getting the same answers from AW that you guys are.
-
The guy I talked to sounded like a politician, lot's of talk and very vague answers... He just kept saying later in June. Those damn guys can be hard to understand, everyone I have talked to sounds the same. Wonder if there isn't some inbreeding going on?
-
Heres my sob story
I ordered my m9750 on 5/1 with an estimated ship date on 5/28.... ha.. those liars... i got an email about a week ago saying that my shell was delayed till the 28th... again bull... i talked to them today and they told me that i probably wont get it till the end of june early july... same story different person.
Heres my question
Shouldnt Alienware have figured some of this bull**** out before they even thought of offering an early order?
Or was this whole thing a scam just to get our money in their bank accounts to collect interest?
who knows i just want to know why they dont give answers to people who spend 5g's plus on a laptop.
Heres what i got on order (probably soon to be cancelled)
2.33 Intel core 2 duo
2x 100gb 7,200 rpm
8x dvd -dL
2x geforce 7950gtx in sli
wuxga
2gb ram
and all the other ****
(most of this post was a vent by the way) -
Yea they havent e-mailed me or anything and i ordered on 5/20. I think cause i bother them everyday they are scared to lol. They told me im gonna get it shipped next week, i also think this is a bunch of bull. It pisses me off but oh well, let the torture go on.

Is Alienware even officially selling the M9750? It's not on their website and a search of their website doesn't lead to any sort of product page.
-
its not launched yet, what we have are pre-orders. It was suppose to launch around may 28th but its keeps getting pushed back, EVERYTHING is delayed.....AW is full of it right now.
-
Welcome to the world of "pre-ordering".
-
-
Ok but it is possible for them to ship the 2nd vid card to you right? Also, you probably can just have them install it for you to keep your warranty?
-
They should be able to do that, but check with them.
-
A product search does find it, just type in 9750 in the search box.
A pre-order now gives the estimated ship date of the 4th of July not June (shneaky shneaky alienware) -
Ok......now i get a call from alienware telling me it wont ship next week....i get different answers every week, now they are saying it could anywhere between june 15 and end of june.....i give up on this dumb company, ill just wait and not even bother asking them my status. Every time i ask them about something they tell me to wait and sound like they are reading off some sheet of paper on why my order is delayed, they say the exact thing, word for word, that i got in my e-mails and previous calls, they are seriously the biggest retards i have ever seen in my life for computers. I may only be a sophomore at university of michigan's computer engineering(i probably know more than them), but the tech support never knows what im talking about. They are as dumb as can be. They dont even know what santa rosa is, they could not even understand what dx10 cards were, i had to explain it to them for 10 minutes. Sorry about the complaining but i just had to vent.
