Well Mr ...check out the home page here at nbr for SOME details. I think the new release will be an update to their m5550, or possibly a release of the Nvidia 8800 series for notebooks.
Oh, and I have had EXCELLENT experiences with AW's customer service. Hope this helps!

Hey everyone. I just bought an M9750 and I have some VERY important questions I would like to ask you all...
Ive just recently installed a forceware 164.44 driver. Playing bioshock with everything maxed out, all working fine and everything, just that when I took my headphones off the fans were probably going as fast as they could to expell the heat it was making. And when I put my hand on the left heat-grille is was..hmmm VERY HOT! This isnt any problem its just that it reminds me of my last laptop which got killed off from overheating.
Are these drivers any safe? If they arent please tell me beause id rather play a game that doesnt look as good than running it on a heat that my system cant cope on. This just worries be because I just got this computer brand new and its my most prized possesion! Also if I do use these drivers and it does mess my comp up, will I be breaking the warranty act by using a driver not officially made by nvidia or alienware?
Please respond because this is something I must know! Thanks!
And I would like to share my specs
Core 2 Duo 2.00ghz
2 GIG Ram
Windows Vista 32
160gb 7200 HD
1900x1200 Rez
Geforce 7950 -
I use the nVidia 163.69 driver on my 9750 and my gpu temps peak in the mid 90's when I play BioShock and yes the air blown out of the vents in the back is quite warm. I would think that if your running too hot that this would be reflected in a degradation of game performance. The 7950GTX is a hot running gpu and BioShock is one of the most graphics intensive games out there.
You might start monitoring your gpu temperatures while playing games to see that your gpu does not exceed 100 C-that is the warning temperature for the 7950. And you can also consider purchasing a laptop cooler if you play games frequently for long periods. -
Hi All,
I recently downloaded the Crysis demo as I was curious how the most graphics intensive PC game out there would handle on the on our beloved M9750, and my conclusion is .... I am dissapointed.
Now my findings won't be the same as everyone's because I decided to go for a single 7950 GTX card in my set-up as I was hoping to upgrade to a possible 8800 SLI set-up in the future but the single 7950 card runs this game like a dog. I'm running on the Laptopvideo2go 169.04 drivers with a res of 1440x900 with settings on Low-Medium and its bearly playable like this for me.
What are other M9750 users experiences with this game with both single card and SLI set-ups? Are you getting better perfomance from a single card etc? -
Hello
Im using the Xtreme G 163.67 from tweaks r us. The crysis demo runs absolutely superb on 7950gtx in SLI. I have also tried using only one card and the demo still runs sweet at 1920x1200. I would suggest you use a different driver as I have had no end of problems with 169.04.

7950 SLI -
Thanks for the info Marshall. I'll look into the other drivers you mentioned. Do you have a direct link by any chance?
What settings were you running for the single 7950 GTX, Low, Medium or High? -
Alright I can finally say I belong to a forum!!!!
New hotness:
m9750
1900x1200 UXGA | 2.16 Ghz C2D | 2 x 7950 GTX Sli | 2 GB RAM | 80 GB 7200rpm | 24x DVD-ROM/CD-RW Burner | Wireless 3945 a/b/g Mini-Card | High-Definition Audio with surround sound | Alienware® Odyssey Backpack | 3-Year AlienCare
I can't wait!!!. I saw the price drop and nabbed it. I know there is new stuff coming out but there is ALWAYS new stuff coming out. For my tastes this will last quite a while thank you very much. Let the pawnedge begin!!! -
Exactly. That's a great system with the new prices and I'm confident you won't be disappointed.

Hey everyone, first post...
I'm between putting in an order for the m9750 tomorrow and waiting for the upgrade. Some guessed the upgrade will come with the Nvidia 8800m, which according to this article would be November 19th:
http://www.electronista.com/articles/07/10/25/nvidia.8800m.gtx.leak/
Any thoughts on whether the upgrade would only include the new graphics card or whether it would also include a new platform that is compatible with the next generation CPUs released in Q1 2008?
Thanks -
Omino
With a single card the settings are are medium with a few of the options on high. SLI most of the settings are all on high. I was a bit wrong with the driver number though. Its actually 167.26. The website is http://www.tweakforce.com. You will also need a modded inf file from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com, you can also get the driver from here as well. I am currently testing the new 169.04 drivers which are specifically for crysis so will let you know how I get on with them.
m9750, 7050gtx sli, 1920x1200, 640gd hdd -
Hi Omino,
After reading your post I downloaded the Crysis demo and just finished it. I'm running at 1920 x 1200 res. with everything set to medium and the game played smoothly. My 9750 is 2.0 Ghz, single 9750 GTX, dual 100 Gig hard drives in Raid 0, and I'm using XP Pro. The drivers I have are the factory installed drivers.
Looking at the first (demo) level Crysis looks like an improved version of Farcry which is cool with me. -

alienware are bringing a new laptop out soon with oc'abl cpu prob like the dell 1730 up to 3.4 not sure about the 8800 but you can get the 8700 in 512mb sli to me its worth the wait
-
alienware_fanatic Notebook Consultant
huh??... a new laptop???
is this news for sure cuz if it is i might as well cancel my m9750 order with them and wait for the new one
-
19th of november Alienware will launch "something"
, but nobody knows yet what exactly ...
-
alienware_fanatic Notebook Consultant
man i just hope its not a new laptop....another question though...wud the m9750 setup support the new 8800's whenever they come out or not?? i mean wud the current laptop be upgradable with the new cards or no?
-
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the feedback it's appreciated.
I tried the original Xtreme G drivers you suggested Marshall and Crysis didn't like them at all and threw me back to the desktop after about 10 mins of play along with dodgy textures showing all over the place. I know know that these are the wrongs ones now anyway but I think I'll stick with the 169.04 drivers as these do seem to be the best.
There is no way I could get a smooth game on 1920x1200 with settings on Medium with my set-up as it just goes too slowly, I have to set everything to low to get a decent result at this res. My specs are similar:
Core 2 Duo @ 2.16Ghz
2Gb Ram
160Gb 7200 rpm Sata HD
1x Go 9750 GTX
The only difference is that I'm running on Vista home Premium 32bit so think this may be the culprit.
Also, can you tell me with the 169.04 drivers can you set the AA to 2 or 4x? If I try to change the setting from off to one of the above options it just automatically goes back to off (not that I could use it anyway!). Also I'm getting intermittent pauses in the game where the screen freezes and the audio stutters. Is Vista really to blame for this poor performace?
If it is I may have to consider going the XP route though I have to say I actually like Vista so don't really want to change. Maybe a dual boot.. hmmmm decisions decisions.... -
I am running the game under XP in SLI configuration, using modified stock drivers (94.23 + updated profile INF file). I can run the game on medium at 1680x1050 resolution. The graphics are fine (although crappy looking), but the audio is very choppy. Haven't yet attempted to tweak the settings yet.
My understanding is that the demo is not as optimized as the final release, and thus will not run as good. -
I was told by Alienware support that 2 new laptops are coming out. This person also implied that the 7950 cards will be cheaper when they do. Could be interesting...
