I was just thinking about Dell offering the 5780 but not the RGB. I imagine that would allow them to stockpile enough for when the RGB becomes available again.

Today I went to a local BestBuy and saw they display an M17x and an Alienware desktop. It's the sign bc I never thought my local BestBuy will have an M17x Dellienware is getting rid of their old inventory to prepare spaces for the new lauch!!!

 

As long as it's before 13APR I'll be ready to order.

I also noticed that on the US dell site you can only order 1066 memory now...the 1333 heading is there but no options under it. Seems odd.

But there really isn't much point to a brand new laptop at this point. They have all the major sizes covered and why would they want to decrease the sales of their current laptops that aren't even a year old?

 

I wouldnt have made the post if there was a dislike post thats for sure . But now darkhan said changes very soon, does this qualify as a change? Only a price change IMO so no. Can we expect more soon or do we have to wait for nvidia to be the new king again.

I talked to a rep online. Doubt he knew anything, but he said the GPU's were coming soon, and would be available in single our dual setup. His terms not mine. He said he didn't have a date though. Lets hope it's soon. Said he would email me, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm just passing word from a source, reliablity undetermined, though probably not too reliable.

You know I been watching the Dell Alienware M17X for a cpl days watching how things will change(LCD panels coming and going,memory that's not longer there, and price changing) and it makes wonder about Dell as company. Every here on Notebookreview.com see's how EDD's get changed all the frickin time and now their website system configure laptop page too. I guess people are in love with these alien head looking things for some reason. I'm starting to wonder if children run this company or are they just not very competent. Ok I'm done ranting sorry.

 

I have seen the video of the making m17x and the designers who were involved in the cutting edge design are professionals. They just have the mind of kids. Without their creative thoughts (sport bikes and sport car influence) the m17x would have not been popular to this date.

Alienware dedicate the time in R & D to bring us these nice toys. I don't see any other vendor out there that take the time to provide us with a laptop design like AW.

If AW was just another some laptop vendor, I think that most of us if not , all of us have abandon ship due to the EDD and supply issues. We dont stay with AW just for the Alienware Head...lol

Alienware beats other laptop vendor in every category.

Personally I think the Clevo's look nicer than the Asus G73. That ugly giant butt of the G73 just kills it.

Yah I didn't mean to sound insulting to Dell or Alienware. Just makes me wonder some times. Personally I keep waiting for the dual 5870's so I can buy one and get rid of my Pentium 3 800 mhz dinosaur. I don't know what I'll do when i get an I7. Probably have a heart attack.

I know this has mostly been about the M17x update, but I was wondering about an update to the M15x gpu. You got a 'soon' or 'very soon' on that Darkhan or are we looking more at a 'don't bother waiting'?

Is everyone waiting for ATI 5870 Single or SLI? No one has confirmation about Dell selling the ATI Mobility 5870 in SLI form do they?

True.. hopefully the price isn't too big of a difference. I'm still debating if I should order soon or wait until the 5870s come out. And it's only been half a day since I decided to order a new M17x. I don't know how you guys wait months. It's already killing me.

Couldn't wait for the 5870s. Already ordered what I have on my sig.
I was going to hold it off unless I got some ridiculous deal which did happen yesterday.
Oh and by the way, one of the sale rep I've spoken to yesterday said, "In 48 hours, the prices for the M17x will change again." I'm not sure if he was trying to scare me by trying to get me order at the spot or if he was talking about the 5870s. Just throwing what he told me.

Yeah, I found that out when this guy tried forcing me to get 8 GB of ram. He told me it's a must for a gamer. So I asked him which game requires 8 GB of ram? There was a long pause which made things hella awkward.

 

Did he say what games require it or just changed the topic like a good little sales rep?

 

Nope he was quiet as I was waiting for an answer. I had to break the ice so I said I mean Metro 2033 optimum requires 8 GB ram and he couldn't help but agree and we moved along haha.
