Guys,
Check it out...
http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_drivers.html
Apparently nVidia has finally decided that notebook users aren't 'second class' citizens and deserve driver updates. (About time since the OEMs rarely provide them)
They are now releasing their drivers for most notebooks on their website directly to end users.![]()

Thanks for this
About time as well
However it only shows 179.28 as the latest version
But, I think I will still stick with Dox's Custom Drivers, beacuse they are optimized for us -
Nice!at last!party!
-
Take a look>>> http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8m.html
Did anyone try this drivers?Which one are better, this from www.laptopvideo2go.com or from Nvidia?
Does this driver from Nvidia slow down the GPU clock as well? -
I'm really surprised it's taken Nvidia this long to get driver updates.
-
nice to hear, but 179.28? come on, Nvidia... we're past 181.XX by now...
-
Perhaps now with official notebook drivers from nvidia, people who have problems with sleep, and hibernate on their notebooks can now be at ease.
-
Case in point, the 177.xx drivers were targeted at the desktop GT 2xx cards, with the earlier drivers from those not having vetted support for older drivers. The 179.xx drivers are targeted at notebook systems. The 180.xx drivers are targeted for desktop systems again. This does have an impact on which bugs get fixed where, since some bug fixes will completely bypass versions which aren't targeted for the appropriate platform. -
fine then. i'll just sit tight and wait for benchmarks of 179.28m(obile) vs. 180.84 or 180.70.
-
dun dunun dahhhh!!!
ill stick with my 180 1.1 vor now...but lets see -
-
no 7 series support. i'll pass!

Levenly,
According to the official announcement:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/io_1229602132882.html
Support for the other GPUs is coming:
"Starting today, customers with GeForce® 8 and 9-series GPUs or Quadro NVS-equipped notebooks can download a BETA version of the drivers from www.nvidia.com. Customers will be able to download a WHQL-certified version supporting all GeForce 7, 8, and 9 series and Quadro NVS series notebook GPUs early next year."
Has anyone tried these on the m15x or m17x yet? I'm stuck at work
- Denver -
I'm downloading... 127mb should be done in about 10mins or so..
-
I suppose I'll try it out as well. I mean, I'm using 167.43 right now so I guess it'd be worthwhile to try it out.
-
I'm not getting the right clocks (with and without powermizer enabled) with these drivers in XP. Going to have to revert back to 167.43.
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
downloading right now, well see if it fixes my problem.
-
Good luck.
-
. Thanks for the heads up!
-
Haha, no problem.
-
If someone can confirm that it fixes the sleep issue I will be extremely happy -
we'll see if that's true. some say that the sleep/hibernate is more of an OS issue than a display driver problem.

Hello,
I've tried installing the official Nvidia laptop driver on my Vista m15x with a 8700M GT card. However, I get an error message that no suitable driver could be found and the Nvidia driver installer then quits. This is despite the fact that the 8700M is explicitely mentioned under the 'supported products' tab on the nvidia website.
Does anyone else have the same problem? -
It's very odd how it does that.
KAding, try downloading the modified INF file from laptopvideo2go [ here's a direct link if you need it].
Once you have that downloaded, do the following:
#1. Locate where the NVIDIA driver files were extracted (most likely C:\NVIDIA).
#2. Try to find the Display folder within the NVIDIA folder.
#3. Replace the existing INF file with the modified INF file you downloaded from laptopvideo2go in the Display folder.
#4. Go one folder back and double click on the Setup.exe file to install the drivers.
Hope that helps. -
I usually use the laptopvideo2go drivers, but with for example GTA4 I get very strange graphical glicthes (tearing, but also a very odd kind of 'noise' that even persists after I exit the game. Most of the time the laptop even crashes or hangs somehow when playing 3D games, even old 3D games. I don't have this problem with the more than one year old official Alienware video drivers.
I'm hoping using these drivers from Nvidia will prevent that from happening! I don't have terribly high hopes to be honest though.
-
-
Lets hope that ATI will follow...
-
-
The modified INF file from my link should be nvac.inf. Move that and replace the existing one in the NVIDIA Display folder.
-
nope. didn't work. tried re d/l the file and everything. same nivida being unable to finda any compatible devices message
-
it is a little weird, but just pick one of the 50 .inf files using the "have disk" method. And chose the corresponding card from the list. if your card doesn't come up on the list then chose a different .inf file.
Currently testing, will report back later. -
This doesn't work for (m15x 8800gtx) windows XP32 users and the hacked inf method doesn't work either. still results in the permanent downclock that no one seems to be able to fix (nvidia, alienware or inf writers)
i encourage someone to prove me wrong, but i have tried everything with XP32 -
I have been Googling a result for the "cannot locate any drivers" issue. I have been having issues with running Company of Heroes Gold Ed. in fullscreen mode. Windowed it's fine, but I think d/ling the new driver might help. The problem is an almost full inversion of all colors when in full screen, yet it is fine when windowed.
I am getting an error in the nVidia setup where it cannot find the drivers, and I have an 8800M GTX on a Vista 32-bit M15x with 175.80 driver. Any thoughts? I have restarted multiple times and tried multiple mirror sites. Stumped though... -
yes i have the m15x 32bit vista. 9800m gt. same error as always. anyone with confirmed way to fix this yet?

Oceanus: im using win xp pro
-
Try downloading 167.43 from here. These drivers should allow you to get the right clock speeds.
I assume you know how to use these drivers and what to do with the modified INF file. Once you have it installed, disable powermizer and check your clock speeds to see if they are 500/1250/799.20. If they are, then you should be getting the right clock speeds. -
Here are my results it is good driver in my opinion for the games I play it has worked very well. And very good 3d mark scores as well. I almost got 9K including my cpu score, which is always very low.
-
wow, so these might be the best drivers to date!
-
The driver allows direct overclocking of the 8800M GTX and 9800M GT via nTune 6.03.
-
How are the temps compared to your previous drivers?
-
Oceanus: are 167.43 the newest drivers you able to get installed correctly in xp 32?
-
They are not new drivers per se, but they give the correct clock speeds.
-
-
i'm only getting 8500 3dmarks with 179.28... used to get well over 9500 with 180.84 and others...
EDIT: for some reason, my 3dmark06 is running at 1280x854... i mean, ? that's not even a legal resolutionwho ever heard of aspect ratio 16:10.675? honestly...
-
-
lol .. i got 5800 in 3dmark06..what is this ?
i used modified inf method..because i get a msg device not detected.
usually i got 9700.
so what wrong ?
and btw .. 3dmark06 operate in strange resolution.1400X865 or something. -
i got that error too, googling the res showed me that this is a result of the modded .inf. basically, just ignore the 3dmark score (as it's not comparable anyway), and enjoy the superior gaming performance
-
huh?
Those are really low scores guys...with this driver.
I get an average 9500 running 3dmark at 1280x720. Make sure that you use the modded nvac.inf (that Oceanus posted earlier) and put it in the "Display" folder after extracting the driver itself. A message will pop up that will ask if you want to over write the older one. Go ahead and do so. -
that modded .inf from lt2go.com makes 3dmark (free version) run at 1280x854, which is the reason for the poor scores.
Whoo Hooo! nVidia now releasing laptop drivers
