Not really, service packs do not incorporate any GUI changes in most pf the cases. SP are meant to club all the interim updates & fixes in a package and push it forward, with little or no cosmetic changes. Win7 has a revamped kernel and consumes less memory when compared to Vista. The UI is kept similar, as the UI was not the problem with the acceptance of Vista. It was the performance & UAC which was not that user friendly.

sry 4 asking it twice but would you recommend installing W7 without dual boot ... I mean instead of Vista 64bit?

Other question: If I do so ... would it be possible, if I have any trouble, to reinstall Vista by using the AlienRespwan DVD? Or do I have to have the "Respawn Data on the HD to use it?

    Thank you guys!
    Greetings
    Julian

i would definitely not recommend completely switching over to Win7. it's still a beta OS, and it'll expire at some point. dual-boot is fairly easy to set up, and imo the best way to try out Win7.

dual-boot ... I think I know what it is (I select in the bios wich OS I want to sart?) but how can I "make" a dual-boot? Just install W7without deleting Vista? If I am right Vista is installed on C wich is the only partition when I recive my m17? So I'll have to set up a new in in the old one ... is this possible without deleting Vista?

Thank you guys! What would I do without you

    Greetings
    Julian

i've been running wins7 64 for a while now, as a dual boot, and have been very impressed with it. it seems pretty stable. im not gonna recommend it to anyone as their main OS if they use their computer for anything other than recreational/occasional usage. but i however fall into that bracket, so am seriously considering doing it. up until a week ago there was three of us using my m15x, inc my step daughter, who downloaded loads of crap onto it. so im going to format it and then install win 7 as my main os. it seems quicker and smoother, it looks better and if i do that, it will give it a good run out anyway. the only thing that hasnt installed in it on my dual boot currently is my turbo ram, which obviously isnt a major problem anyway, everything else is fine.

There is only one problem ...

I have a Lego Roboter called RCX ... "he" can be programmed via Java + Eclipse + LeJos ... the problem is, that for the comunication between RCX and PC, there is an Lego USB Tower ... and, as for Vista, there is no driver ...

I tryed to use the XP drivers but it brought no succes :(

Because I need this robot for a special school project I realy need it ...

Any idears? ATM I have an old laby with XP ... but soon I will have to reinstall windows ... and it would be great if I can install W7 ;)

    Any idears? THX

i would find it highly improbable that youll get any win7 drivers for you robot for a long time yet. vista there is a good chance i reckon. if it is critical for your school project, your gonna have to search for vista drivers, or go down the dual boot route and have XP plus either vista or win7
