dual lamp question

thanks for the complament....i live about 45 min away from asus the factory ...so i mosey over there from time to time...a very good friend of mine is very high up in the company....sooo...that brings me to my next idea is to call him on monday and see what he has sittin around there as of screens...i will ship u something quad...if it works for you ..hahah...then i may ship out mine....

oh very cool...i liked it alot but i had a hard time overclocking it and i got sick of gateway ...s they never release any updated stuff ever drivers...hated them....

Yeah thats why kept getting rid of them . it wasnt there fantastic support it was they were keeping up with the newest hardware IE video cards Ram etc all at very affordable prices. i would play and tinker with them for a month or 2 and turn around and sell them for a couple hundred less and try the next one.

 

wow thank god i am not the only one....my wife HATES the fact that i do that........my wifes mothers is best friends with the packard family...from hp so i got the hook ups on stuff there too...

Hehe thanks but you know im not looking for any credit just want everyone to be happy with there very expensive purchase in the end . The screen IMHO is the only thing holding back this perfect machine. Some people dont seem to mind it though as where me it made loco.

I just want to give people more options. If some are unsure of the LCD quality then being able to put your own panel in is as good as it gets

Screens to me are what make me love or hate a notebook so i dont care if i got a million fps in crysis at veryhigh . If i am not happy with the what im looking at on screen then im just not happy period.

 

Nothing wrong with it other then the screen has Auto Contrasting built into it which means anytime there is something dark on the screen it dims the screen to give the illusion of the screen having better levels of black. Alot of HDTV's come with this feature and it is hated by the majority of people who have it as well. It may be something that would never bother you though but without seeing one first hand you wont know.

It depends on the implementation of it. lol

On my KDS-50A3000 (Sony SXRD) the auto-iris is excellent and it is not noticeable while watching it.

The best part though is I can turn it off

It's possible with a firmware flash of the panel (or BIOS) but highly unlikely...

Z confirmed though just as i had thought there is no firmware update for panels sadly.

Well, it could be done thru a BIOS update.

I know some of Dell's BIOS releases have flashed firmware of other devices on the system.

So it can be done, but very unlikely....

Believe me, if I knew how to extract firmware and code a BIOS I'd be working on it

 

It might not be related to the pages after page 1 (haven't looked beyond that) but I wonder if a TLA2 would fit in the M17. It'd be a very nice screen if it does, especially with what everyone's saying about it.

 

Well, quad has a TLA2 he is using in his M17 right now.

So, yeah. It fits. lol

 

ok so i just got off the phone with the alienware business support level 2 and i was told it is suppost to be able to be shut off. and he will send me instructions on how to do just that...we will see if there full of c r a p or not

there full of crap cause you cant turn it off . Those settings there going to tell you how to disable it dont have any effect . they get confused with Auto dimming and Auto contrasting.

Im not sure where you can get one from to be honest . i got mine from Z factor because he had one kicking around for months that wasnt being used.

He said he was trying to get more though. I never realized me getting this panel would become so popular lol.

 

I wish there were my friend but its being done on a hardware level not software.

you can do a fresh install with vista or Win7 for instance without using any software period and its there. So theres no magical key to turn it off sadly.

I did lol to the best of my ability. Sleey0 is looking for one as well. You can find people claiming they have them but when they ship you a screen its just a compatible one and not specifically what you ordered . thats why i tell people to read the fine print from where they order from.

There are other LG screens out there that are very similar you just have to ask Zfactor whats a comparable screen to the one i have and he can tell you .

very hard question. for me i have had every variation of this panel over 12 of them and a few were decent but the tla2 reigns, the tla5 is even brighter but colors are WAY oversaturated..imo the k4 series sucks..

i may have a lead on a company that has a good amount of these but it will be monday before i know more
