Not offering those just yet. Just the starting configurations for some reason.

I think theyre just sending out a few test configs to try and field test/diagnose any major problems before the bulk of the laptops begin to sell

I talked to a rep and she said the other config options (like black case and skullcap) will be available within the next 2 weeks..

those were the guidelines Alienware gave her.

Sorry I haven't read every post, but I've been configuring different options for about an hour now (on the m15x). Are you talking about the m17x? These are indeed beasts, but from strictly a hardware perspective they are overpriced. If paying and extra $1000 for the slickest shell in the industry is no big deal for you than of course I'd recommend this machine.

Im talking about the full fledged M15X configurators because now its a pre config and a semi config. Also from a hardware perspective they are not overpriced at all. I find it funny how people think that the more stylish looking case and the boutique status of alienware automatically make the price tag ridiculous. This might be true for some of their computers but otherwise their prices are just as fair as anyone elses. If not better. I guarantee you that you will not find a notebook with an 8800m, 200gb 72000 rpm HDD, 2.4ghz C2D, @ gigs of 667 ram, a smart bay, and custom control of lighting effects in a 15" form factor for under $2600. If you do I will pesronally buy a maxed out M15X and ingest it.

Well usually 17" are more than 15" notebooks anyways... And I don't see how you don't think they are overpriced. Actually they aren't THAT bad but I was hoping it'd be slightly cheaper since it's a 15" and naturally 15" are less expensive. I suppose they thought that the lighting and such would make up for it though. I think the reason that most people(myself included) think they are overpriced is that they'd like the laptop with lower specs than the lowest ones possible. For example, I really just want a 100gb 7200rpm hard drive and 1g of RAM(so I can upgrade myself) and possibly even stick with a 2.0ghz processor if I really feel like saving money. Since we can't get them, it just feels so expensive but we're actually getting things for only maybe a tiny bit more than usual, which is okay since you get all the neat lighting stuff or whatever.

But, maybe if I'm lucky enough, the 100gb 7200rpm and whatever will be available when all the configurations are there =]

Would be 3100 without tax for my prefered configuration, and it doesnt have the black design choice yet. Glad I have my m9750! This thing works like a charm!

I was so worried I wasted money on my m9750! Ends up being out of my price range anyway so now I don't mind.
