dondadah88 - you may want to try to pm E-Wrecked regarding this. as moo said or another person, there was a way to disable but i cannot recall where i read it.
    just a thought for you.

    9800GT = 9416 3dmark06 marks DX10

    HD 3870 = 8421 3dmark06 marks DX10.1

Not bad for Price vs Performance.

for 3dmark maybe. but as others will argue, real world performance is why most choose the 9800 or 8800 over the current ATI units.

I'd be happy to get a premium M15x with 4850; as for 3870, from what I hear, 3870 performs quite poorly in games relative to its 3D benchmark...

Ok right now i only have one card runnning in my Whitebook. my thoughts of getting one 3870 is only if you are getting a 1440*900 display. anything higher then that will not be really playable at max graphics. i'll post benchmarks as i go along.
    i did 3dmark06 and i got 8479

yeah i think that this card should be bought only if going to 1440*900. it can play games at 1920*1200 but not as easy. i couldnt select that setting because of a driver problem so i went down to 1280*720 and 800

this is good news for M17 owners. It means that they are selling the 3870stock before they start selling the 4870. I bet the 4870 is also compatible with the M15x

The one thing that I have noticed about ATI's video cards like the HD3870 and HD4850 is that they usually have really nice SM3.0 scores. God Bless :)

use e-wrecked's 9.1 and use 9.4 and use 8.12. set AI to advanced. and run it.

also make sure you use ccleaner or something to clean out your drivers or it won't work. i believed it didn't matter but it makes a big difference.

I didn't know your resolution was at that. i was wondering why you beat me by so much. do you have an external moniter to run it on.i will try to run dual core cpu, single gpu runs is you don't.

I am trying some different things out now. I tried the e-wrecked 9.4 and I modded the latest catalyst drivers, both gave me a 1000 point drop in 3dmark. I am trying e-wrecked 9.1 in a few minutes... will let you know.

just try it. anything past 9.1 should not increase 3dmark06 because of dx9. they focused on dx10 more.

    I am running with 9.1 e-wrecked at 1024x768 I am getting 9714 3dMarks and at 1280x800 I am getting 9050.

I would expect at 1280x1024 I would be down around 8900-8950.

The drop was not 1000 points but about 400 points, I had bounced and installed so many drivers I was forgetting to verify which resolutions I was running the tests at! my bad.

those are some pretty competitive scores you're putting up there, mate! veeeery close to the level of the 8800m-gtx/9800m-gt.

Outside of tweaking the startup and services I haven't done any modding. I did notice that the AW face recognition was a killer so I shut all of that off and I only run the Command Center to change the lights otherwise it is shut off as well. So out of the box it is pretty close to these scores.
