Thanks for the link, Nyceis.

I have the Home Premium on my m15x and the standalone installer worked for me.

Vista Sp1 has been great for all my Syste, XPS 1530 XPS 1710, and Desktop running Vista X64 the system overall seems more stable and a little snapier.
Although I haven't seen any increase in gaming performance. -
Same as newfiejudd - SP1 has given a little more zing to the experience & made Sleep and Hibernate on my laptop a cinch (well it's my sister's laptop - but who's checking ?
)
No BSoDs for moi -
where cam I find the newest drivers for the 8800. It doesnt seem to be coming up in my windows update.
-
N -
alright thanks for the info
-
AW needs to make this a priority to make a driver up date for the 8800gtx it is getting rediculous. Benmarks are low, crysis is not running up to par, heat pleuges us. AW step up and give us new drivers please!
-
Sogarth, just want to thank you for all this info and updates. You knowus gamer computer geeks are the worst for wanting something NOW! lol and although were not getting it, at least getting some info from you and hope of something coming down the pipeline soon makes it a bit more bearable. My notebook is currently in getting repaired for cracks and sd card reader issues. Hopefully when I get it back in a month a new driver will be out.
Hats off to you for your help! -
Even when a fix gets out, I can't actually give anybody else the driver.Hell, there was an e-mail sent out earlier today telling people to only release driver packages through formal channels for business reasons (although they are good reasons).
On the other hand! I should be able to keep an eye on lv2g and let people know when a driver release that has the fix has been released. Not great, I know, but it's the best I can do. -
anything/everything you can do is helpful Sogarth.
Thanks for all your help and work. I can't wait for AW to put out new drivers for this beast. -
yes thank you very much anything helps.
-
It's times like these where I don't really feel bad that I have to wait another 4 months before I pull the trigger on the m15x..
The driver issue and lack of black cases are the only (small) comforts for my extended waiting period.. Sigh.. -
Oodle-Bear Alienware Mug, Testpilot
Don't beat yourself up man, it's not like you're deliberately holding back on us, it's not worth you "slipping a file on here", because that could cause you to slip out of a job
All and any help in these matters is greatly appreciated.
And heck, even a heads-up is useful so that we can bombard AW with emails asking for new drivers lol

I spoke to AW again today, and it won't be released any time soon. They are still persistant the issues is Nvidia's. So unless they meet in the middle, I think we will be held up in pissing contest. Sucks to be us.
And if your wonderig my System still hasn't been fixed yet. Trying to organize the returm shipping with the VIP service is absolutly terrible. FedEx won't accept the package unless I provide the Account number. AW insist that the way bill is all I need to get the item shipped and won't release teh account numer. So it looks like I will be chucking the cash myself to get this POJ fixed correctly. My trials with AW continue to grow. My faith is slipping so fast. Somebody on here tell me a story of a great repair after the unit got to thier facility. -
What kind's of problems are you having with your system?
-
Its all "infastructure" my friend. AW needs alot rework to thiers. One faulty stage of an infastracture just like in a building, can make it all come crashing down. Looks like AW might have already hit the ground but I will not lie I absolutly love my 15x.

The concept of the M15x is brilliant and I have stated that fact numerous times. But so far for me the execution, well let's just say it's that an EXECUTION. -
I NEED HELP BAD I JUS UPDATED THE DISPLAY DRIVER ON THE M15X
and now it does not detect the 8800m gtx card
wtf? -
NO known drivers is better than AW stock drivers. -
Here's an update that might look pretty good to you:
Notes:
- This is not a final driver. It's a test driver that a developer helped put together to verify a theory.
- Yes, the date on the driver is, in fact, April 2, 2008. I crossed out the specific 174 driver version because even if that one did ship, it wouldn't have this fix in it anyways (see above).
- I may have been wrong concerning the driver's performance under Windows XP. It might actually run fine there (I don't have a Windows XP installation handy, so can't check).
- The fix they may be implementing might just work everywhere (which would be convenient in that we wouldn't have to wait for Alienware to do anything); it's still under development, so it's hard to say for sure.
- Don't ask me for this driver. I can't give it out.
Anyways, considering that my previous 3DMark06 score was 9033, this isn't bad, I think.I've yet to see whether or not I can overclock the GPU. Maybe I'll try that next....

There was a guy who was able to unlock the XPS BIOS to unlock the overclcoking ability via riva tuner or the Nvidia Control panel. I wonder if it would be worth a try to ask him if he can shed some light on the subject.
Will try and track down that link to his website. -
Not sure if this will help with your OC quest, but the latest build of Nibitor supports the GTX out of the box without additional steps.

I am thinking it's a BIOS locked function right from AW. I really don't think AW will allow OC'ing of the GPU on these systems. Be great if they do and keep us informed Sogarth we appreciate all your help. And that last page from the post you quoted does seem to have a OC' able driver with the clevo systems under XP.
Shima I think we are thinking the same wave lenght here on the over clocking. But it would extremly nice to be able to run Ati Tool and determine stable OC before you flash the GPU BIOS.
I have used NiBiTor on my Desktop SLI GTX's and it was a longer process of doing each card, but it worked extremely well. Scoring over 17k 3dmark 06 on my desktop setup with air cooling. -

Sogarth - Just wanted to say thank you! There is hope yet!

Sogarth thanks again for keeping us in the loop.
Also a reminder for those of you wanting to put some pressure on AW. keep the emails going. Even sending an email to [email protected] with m15x nvidia driver as the subject or something and a question asking the release date helps let them know how many people are waiting for an update.
I try to send one off every few days just to keep the pressure up.
This is the response you can probably expect:
-------------------------------------------------
"Thank you for contacting us again.
Concerning your inquiries, note that some of our customers have reported the same issues your system is experiencing with the current driver of this video card. At this moment, we are working with NVidia to release a new driver as soon as possible. However, we do not have a specific date as to when the driver will be available. Rest assured that we will keep our customers updated. "

Keep the Faith! -
Well it look sike Sager released new drivers for the 8800m GTX. So hopefully we will see some from AW real soon.

My laptop is on the return process. But I would suggest you try laptopVideo2go.com and see if they have the modified INF and drivers listed.
They might work on the M15x.

newfiejudd: I did get the modified INF from LV2G but these drivers still down clock the card. Another one bites the dust.

Waiting and waiting lol..
-
fyi: Alienware does not currently have a bug open for this issue. If they say that they're waiting for NVIDIA? They're not. Or at least if they are, they've decided it's not worth filing a bug over. -
lol thanks sogarth, thats intresting news
-
could you point us in the direction of the fix the developer found?
-
-
well thanks for that update Sogarth. I have just sent ALineware another nasty email. I am on the verge of legal action against them to get my refund back at this point, due to the numerous defects I have had on this machine, and its inability to perform as advertised. I hope someone lights a fire under their ass and gets them motivated to come up with a solution.

Thanx for the update on the upcoming driver fix Sogarth
Good to have news like this waiting for you after 4 days away from the forum..
