    m17 CPU comparison with 3DMark06

    This is a comparison between the different CPUs
    offered by Alienware for the m17.

    Here are the 3DMark06 Scors I collected from this and other forums to compare.

    3870x2

    Default CPU/GPU settings:
    OverClocked CPU/GPU settings:
    4850x2

    Default CPU/GPU settings:

    Most of the scores are made @ 1280x1024, 1280x800 or 1280x720. The systems are all fitted with two 3870 CrossFireX but some have Raid 0/1 some not!

    Sadly I have not for every score a confermation links and this is where I need youre help to make this comparison even better!


    I'll update this list to ceep it up to date ;) If you want i can also add Vantage scores but for this I need some :p (or scores from other comparisons)

    Right now I listed the highest score I found but when I'll have more and you want it, I'll add an average score or the lowest and highest score (wich I would prefer)

    If I named youre score and you don't want that ... just say that and I'll remove it if you want to be named say it, too :cool:

    I hope this can help you to decide wich CPU you should buy or update to!

    For the Extreme processors, it depends on what the multipliers are set to. A stock M17 with an X9100 would not be scoring 15k; it's more like 13.9k

    your gonna have to sort of ditch that 16,200 score from e-wrecked(it's was a flubbed score to prove a point)...it wasn't done using default settings.... his true score is 15,849

    Eh? 750/925? For both? That's impressive.. For some reason(drivers) I can't OC that high. You're using AW's driver right?

    If so, post a link for the 64bit download?

    yeah, i got it from thier site. i may have been able to go higher, but it was getting late. I want the full version of 7 to come out (plus 4870's) and 9.1 dirvers which i hope they allow OC again.

    you can't overclock any AW machines, but the idea behind the "extreme" label is that they have unlocked multipliers, thus enabling easy overclocking.

    you can flash with the OCZ BIOS, which will allow you to overclock. however, this will disable the Command Center, which only runs on "AW machines".

    But than not only the CC is gone, the warrenty as well (If not, than after the OCing)? Or do I just have to reflash die Bios ... mom ... maybe this is not avalibe I guess :)

    EDIT: Oh, and there's also a run you're missing..you have my "Default" run as 14755 or so.. It's actually considerably lower. The PM I sent you includes my 3.06 GHz run - Which is slightly below 14k - Just for legit comparisons sake. :)

    I added a score for the Q9100:



    Now I have a little porblem ... I don't know wich resolution this was ... what is the standart resolution if you have the 1920x1200 Display? I think it's 1280x720 for the 1440x900 screen but I don't know it for the "bigscreen".

    1280x1024 is the standard for 3dmark benchmarks. Yes, its also standard on the 1920.1200 screen.
