So I need to create a new partition for my games and so that if I dualboot I would have acsess to the games? Right? Or wrong :)

I am going to make a little Driver comparison on W7 as well!

I ran 3DMark06 and Crysis with:
    Alienware Drivers
    W7 Beta Drivers (8.56...)
    9.1 Ewrecked Version ;)

Now I want to add one (or more) more driver ...
    I saw E-wrecked using 8.10 but I can't find it ... is it a "self mobmod" version?
Which one do I have to mod?

    Edit: 8.10 works ;)

    THX 4 your help!
    Greetings
    Julian

No, with the OCZ Bios you can only change the Multi in the Bios!
With the Intel XTU (xtreme tuning utility) you can change FSB, Multi, Vcore, RAM Timings on the fly in Windows (only with xtreme Chips)! Problem with the Intel XTU, i cannot find it to download!

That seems quite low to be honest. I can get 13k without closing any programs at all. You should be able to get 13.5k at least with that cpu.

your cpu is faster than mine, i think 3dmark is not using all the power of quad core.. any idea?

What I read up on. Vista 32 vs 64. Windows vista 32 wins hand down +2 or +3 faster. I seen 2 games that had +3 or +4 with vista 64.

There a reason why Alienware dose not setup the laptops for vista 64. Scores are lower.

Where did you read that ? Overall Vista 64bit is 10% faster than Vista 32bit.

Also Alienware DOES have a Vista 64bit option for M17.

    my scores :

    vista 32 : 12808
    vista 64 : 12672

i made 10 or more test in both systems. vista 32 little bit faster at 3dmark. but the heat is lower in vista 64.. dont know why ? also i have laggy times at vista 32 with 3dmark after 5-6 test.

and when i disable the pagefile the score is lower.. with pagefile enabled 3dmark scores are little better ..

when i test and check the gpu heats, first gpu is hotter then the second, around 10 degrees celsius. idle times heats are not same, first gpu always 10 degrees hotter than the second.

    ps : sorry for english.

What I will say again Vista 64 is not worth it. I only seen a few games that was able to use extra ram and it was only a few points. So for a laptop users do you pay for 8gb of ram for a few fps?

Untel software change over to 64 bit I rather wait for windows 7 and hope it better then Vista and hope ram prices are lower.

Why do you base all your information around gaming ?

If your laptop has 8gb ram then obviously you are not using it for pure gaming. Even when Win7 comes out 32 bit version will be still using 3~gb ram. So users that need their laptops for other uses than just gaming and they require more ram than that, since the system alone uses like 1~gb they will have to switch to the 64bit version.

Why are there no Q9000 scores? I have a q9000, running x64bit vista, and according to a file on my desktop from AW that had benchmark scores, it had only around 10,500 score... with 2gb ram, 250gb hdd... =/

I'm thinking something is a bit screwy on my end.

the Q9000 has 4time 2,0 Ghz right? May be 3DMark has a realy bad quadcore support?

But I was sure the Q9000 would be faster (even in 3DMark06) than my T9400 and I score 12.188 on 1280x1024 ...

I would have guessed that there would be something wrong! But when AW tested it and "was happy" with 10k ... than it seeems to be normal :(

Normaly (ask MR.Moo xD) you will wait some more days untill they know why their score is so low and solve the problem.

    Greetings
    Julian

Edit: the missing Q9000 scores is because nobody was so polite to give me a link (from the score)

Q9000 (intel quadcore 2.0ghz) with crossfirex enabled and 2gb ram.

All settings stock, my results at 1280x720 (3dmark06):

    SM2.0 score: 4196
    HDR/SM3.0 score: 4962
    CPU Score: 3012

    Total: 10619

Is this score decent for my system? I am running stock drivers. There was a CPU test, the first one I think, that got like between 0 and 1 fps... studdered like hell... is that common/ok?

I'm in way over my heads with this benchmark util, and don't have any games around to test it via those means, which I am way more confident and comfortable with...

Any suggestions would be nice thanks

Would you allow me to use the "link" you have and your result to add it to the "comparison", the Q9000 is still missing (everybody doesn't want to upload scores)

    Greetings
