For some reason now it is working, but thanks much for the quick reply zfactor

Hi,
The download link within the A02 description is currently down. Please use the download link on the first page.
Thanks,
Gabe -
It's really too bad there is no setting for this in the BIOS. -
Hi Glzmo,
The tables have already been adjusted to help the computer run cooler with BIOS A02. Even with BIOS A00, it was adjusted for exceptional cooling. This isn't a system that you'll ever have to run the fans at 100. Also, the noise of the fans at 100 percent would most likely be very audible.
Thanks,
Gabe -
as gabe said they are already maxxed. they are progressive so they spin up to 100% as needed
-
Didn't help me
-
And by the way, I was having heat problems with BIOS A00 when gaming outside in the hot summer sun and pushing those GTX280 video cards with 16x FSAA and 16x Anisotropic filtering.
I have noticed A02 is spinning the fans up much sooner, but still a little bit too late at times for my taste. It's not really hot at the moment, though.
I'd love to have more flexibility in manually adjusting at which temperature the fans kick up to 100% natively in the BIOS, though. Maybe in A03? -
can anyone tell me how do you update bios step by step to a02? i have a00 atm

i8kfangui FTW!!
LOVED that program..... -
They should not be ran in 100f weather
-
Is there still that annoying beep every time you turn on the system while on battery power? Anyone made a modded bios for that..?
-
All within Windows. -
or download it and click on it

OK, one last question.
The OSD has to be upgraded as well as the bios. Should one uninstall the old OSD, upgrade bios, install new OSD. Or can one upgrade bios and install new OSD over the old? -
Doesn't matter. I flashed the A02 BIOS, let the system reboot and then uninstalled OSD/installed the new version. All is working fine.

Exactly Batboy, that is all I did, heck I did not even uninstall the old OSD, just clicked and ran....yesterday was my lucky day.
Love the new performance!! -
Does this bios fix the DPC latency?
-
no latency fix.
-
So Far I cant tell much difference with A02, My QX9300 still crashes on anything over 2.93?

my t9600 is @3.5 and its running extremely well and cool!

it seems to be the trend that OC on qx9300 works much better using FSB rather than just changing the multiplier
Mine is at 1272 (FSB and RAM) and multiplier of 10x and running rock solid -
Thanks Scook9! I will try those exact settings.
-

I appear to have a better OC on my processor than most though, try something a little more conservative like 10x 1200 (3 GHz). My clocks are for 3.18 GHz
And be sure to change the memory speed to the same as the FSB to ensure the best stability -
EDIT: Nvm it worked somehow.
-
-
I would def put the stock memory in and try again.
Some mobos don't like certain memory and that seems to be your case... -
I put the 4gb that came with the M17x into the M17 and sold it, so I just ordered the same G.Skill 1333 as Sook9 has. Maybe it will perform better?
-
As sleey0 said Why not use the stock memory? Link your fsb and mem and try a 11 multi first.
-
at 11x and 1066mem/1066fsb I play games fine and benchmark fine, however normal surfing it will bluescreen. Thats why I was thinking maybe it don't like the OCZ memory, this memory caused no problems in my M17? I even formatted and reloaded thinking maybe that would fix it, but no luck.
-
The system comes with memory diagnostics you can run. Do you have any other memory to test with? I would also test using just one module and see if it's a specific dimm giving you the issue.
-
Tried upping the cpu multiplier to 11.5 (11 ran fine on A00) and had a BSOD after a few hours. So gone back down to 11, with FSB untouched at 1067.
The face-recognition login is now loads faster - don't even get to see the camera window most times. -
Am I the only one with issues then?
Looks like I tried everythin I saw around here. Nothin worked.
I updated my BIOS to A02. Installed the new OSD, tried every video driver around here. None worked.
My problem is, when I enable my Hybrid SLI Windows loads with a blank black screen (Not even a cursor). It only worked by luck with the Dell/Alienware BETA drivers. Now when I updated to 81, gives me blank screen when its on Hybrid SLI or the 9400. And when I try to install the 82 driver, it says not supported or somethin...
GEE!! I gave up already. Any help, please? -
damn at 3.2ghz run good onye if i log off i get BSOD
-
That happens to me at 3.3. -

so far the g.skill memory has ran great for me, I only got it because I wanted to have the confirmed ability for higher memory speed and the lower timings at those speeds compared to overclocked 1066 memory
-
Thanks for all your help. -

All I need to do now is overturn Mandrake and his record haha
I think that should be doable given everything I have done so far is on the factory install of Vista
Should be making a new install on a fresh drive just for benching using windows 7 - that oughta help me along -
Overall I'm happy with the A02 update since it reduced a stutter problem I had w/ Crysis (other games had been working fine and still do) but I still can't get my CPU to an 11.5x multiplier it's kinda frustrating. I thought it was finally gonna work but then I got BSOD after about 3 minutes of OCCT... 11 has always been working fine and nothing has changed there but I just wish I could get it to 11.5x.....

you can OC via FSB as well, sometimes this can get you further than using hte multiplier
-
I read through the whole of the 'Overclocking the QX9300' thread. But the refusal of most people to quote when replying, numerous diversions into overcloking other CPUs and GPUs - all interspersed with cliquey banter - makes it impossible to distill meaningful answers. All I came away with was -
You can OC by changing the FSB by changing the FSB. Apparently one needs to change it to 100, or 266, or 1250 - all seem to be suggestions made somwhere in that monster thread.
So - according to cpuid - my Bus Speed is 267 MHz and the Rated FSB is 1067 MHz. What would you recommend changing and by what increments? -
Up it 5-10 at a time
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
In your bios you will see the quad pumped speed (1066 is default). Alot of people will refer to the bus speed (266 is default, 4x266=1066). You will see both methods used and have to apply some common sense to tell which number some one is referring to. The bus speed * multiplier will give you the final cpu speed. For non extreme CPUs, the multiplier is locked and you will see no option for changing it.
As Moo suggested, adjust the value in the BIOS by increments and see if it is stable. I prefer increments of 4 MHz to the quad pumped speed since this results in a 1 MHz increase in the bus speed - but that is just me.
There is also a thread created by the Moo about overclocking the M17x called "Overclocking the M17x (noob edition)" -
you say it like i ment it in a bad way
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
not at all, I just prefer 4 MHz at a time haha
-
I ment the guide part
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
oh, was just trying to spread recognition for your hard works haha (in a good way
)

okay can i get a direct download link to this a02.. dell wants me to install the downloader again.. i really dont feel like doing that again
m17x A02 bios out...
