I got Windows 7 on my M17x right now (On a seperate drive I use just for benching haha) and so far it runs awesome, only things I can't get are 186.61 driver and Command Center. Everything else is running like a champ.

I used the .82 driver that was posted from the windows update.. It works good.

did you have issues getting the co processor driver to install? Its in the MCP package.. I had to change compatibility modes for it to launch right..

    Referencing win 7 that is.

Yeah Win7 is really all that and more IMHO. On the M17 its flawless thats for sure . Im gonna toss it on the M17x i think later today again and toy around with it . I had one issue with it though when i tried before and thats the Wireless signal could not find my router a minute after booting into the OS . It would be there and then dissapear only saying it cant find any networks at all ? .

This problem comes from one driver, the nforce chipset drivers from nvidia. One driver in the package isn't compatible (I'm guessing the ethernet one since disabling the ethernet card fixed the problem with the wireless one).
You can either install the dell nforce package and then manually install the newer drivers from nvidia except the ethernet one or you can keep the dell one since it seems just as good.

Thanks for the info . I installed Win7 on it again last night and of course the Wireless lost signal after the second reboot so ill try your suggestions . I can not for the life of me to get the keyboard option to work either once installing Command center so i have to get that sorted as well. No keyboard option and the lights go out right after installing it . This is the Win7 Ultimate RTM.

This is what I had happen. I downloaded latest from dell site. I right clicked and selected compatibility mode, then selected it ran in earlier versions, then did manual and not automatic, and selected vista. The software package installed just fine.

If i just dloaded it and ran the installer, it would only install the smbus driver not the others in the package ie the co processor ect.

Keep in mind when you install that package (mcp) it should have 4-5 things in the list and not just one... Cant remember them all off the top of my head at the moment.

I got all the lights to work in Windows 7 RTM . After opening up FX editor go to theme then New theme then click the advanced button and you will have full access to change everything then just save the theme.

Axion was right all i did was disable the Wired network controlleir from the device manager and my wireless signal came right back so those 2 issues were the only things i was havng trouble with.

for the chipset (mcp) driver, I only have the Nvidia SMU Driver

edit: when I use vista compatibility mode I get a list of 4, none of them are coprocessor though

Any tips on the Microsoft 6to4 adapter? It is showing as not installed or something in my device manager for Vista right now. Where do I need to pull that from?

    Not sure what that is.

My first thought was the Ricoh memory card controller. Have you tried installing that?
