Has anyone tried ordering through EPP yet? I spoke to an EPP rep over chat and he claimed he couldn't configure the i7 version because it's not on the page. The Dell Home reps refuse to match the 10% EPP discount so far.

If the form factor is the same for both systems (which it seems to be) and Alienware offers an upgrade program, Then A00 and A01 M17x users should both be able to partake right?

Unless we're talking different power / adapters

Ok as its my thread im going to ask you guys a question

    I currently have m17x qx9300 260sli sig spec's

This is being replaced with a new system have been offered m17x qx9300 4870 crossfire blueray 4gb 1333mhz to order today

or i try and hold out for a refreshed model i7 9200 4870 crossfire blueray etc
but might not get it or may have to pay price difference.

is the 4870 crossfire the solution to dpc latency or do i really hold my guns for refreshesd

I have been told i can wait for refreshed system but no garantee if the parts are available for my original system thats the one i will get

i have had the nvidia systems and i dident like them at all ...imo ...some love nvidia..i unfortunatly never checked the dpc issue though...but on every other system with the ati's in them ..never had the issue evern..for me i am going to recieve the refresh by the end of next week.. ;) ..so i would be more then happy to test the too for you
but imo ...i would get what you can now. This is being replaced with a new system have been offered m17x qx9300 4870 crossfire blueray 4gb 1333mhz to order today

As far as i can reading through the mountain of threads and posts the only people that the a03 bios still to have problems are nvidia cards.

All people with ATI cards seem to be ok, which seems crazy being an nvidia mother board.

I beleive there is a serious increase in performance of 4870 cross fire over 260 sli

its difficult gamble im playing, hold on or take the reasonable offer i have,

i7 would be brilliant as edit and encode video and audio, also why the lattency and audiio spikes are critical and rendered current spec un usable.

can't try a03 update as system is bricked.

pulling hair out waiting for uk site to offer this been checking every 5 mins since 10am

if there is a for sure bet for the 5 series, then yes. however, from the looks of it the 5 series may not be a significant increase in performance over the 4 series, though, you'll receive dx11 support.

no you call them and order the parts and they send out a all masterfull tech  to come and install them for you..

True, but alienware decided not to employ Gddr5 on the 4870s in the m17x stating a predicted decreased costumer satisfaction or something, I remember it from a thread here a while ago where many were angry that their 4870s came with gddr3 when it said gddr5 on their invoices.

I think the problem was the 4870 with gddr5 wasn't stable so they had to go with gddr3. I don't think there were ever gddr5 cards produced.

Yea they are definately GDDR3. Check out GPU-Z and you'll see. That was an error between what was discussed and what actually made it to dell. Guessing dell went the most profitable and common route to avoid stability issues.

Ok so, what do you suppose would be more useful, a faster processor (820QM with a single SSD or 920XM with a standard 7200RPM hard drive) or SSDs in RAID 0 (with a 720QM)? I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger...I've never really had a high performance system before.

Are you going to buy a crap load of THESE? You be able to put 4 in the Asus and 2 in the M17x.
