You're going to lose some clocks when going with the larger memory but if you do utilize it then it's worth getting the bigger size.

I am confused now. You say that you sold him on the 256gb but you strongly recommend another SSD.

Will I notice a real life difference with the Intel you recommended compared to the Samsung?

Yes, after I sold it to him before it was proven that there was no garbage collection (maintenance) feature with the proprietary firmware. People have found a hack since to utilize TRIM but that doesn't work in RAID. You're going to get better over-all IOPS with the Intel drive and you don't need a hack to make TRIM work.

So any of you guys returning your nvidia systems for the ATi ones?
    I am throwing the towel.
The frame rates drop fast, even when playing games due to stutter.
Game lags big time on WoW too.
    MW2 and WoW, its disappointing.
What you guys going to do?

I'm still at both places. I'll probably make a G73 thread over there like I did with the M17x.

When I had the nVidia system I didn't experience those kinds of issues. Are you playing your games OC'ed? Do you keep an eye on temps?

Well I am afraid to try every single one....don't feel like bricking my system.
I tried different nvidia drivers/ A03 from A02, sound device upgrades, network card upgrades, disabled wireless network, still same issue.
Even the Alien FX update from their website and few other upgrades.
I also uninstalled Nero and fresh install of windows 7 (64bit Ultimate).

I think I may hang around to see if there are anymore fixes that Alienware can come up with, if not I am going to call them for a replacement.
I can't watch YouTube videos neither on FireFox or Internet Explorer without every 10-15 stutters, very annoying to switch between 9400M and the 260 when sometimes I want to listen to music while playing WoW during raids.

    lol this kinda sucks.
ordered mine the day before the refresh was announced, is on its way up to the north already. sent a strongly worded email to the sale rep who assured me that the refresh was 6 months away.
so for strictly gaming is it worth blowing my top at this guy to send mine back and get a refresh. running 9600 and sli. would be switching to the 820qm and crossfire with the rgb led of course?

You have 21 Days to return it for a full refund. They will charge you 15% restocking fee, or at least try to charge you, if nothing is wrong. Just say you get a lot of blue screens and that's it.

Get the refresh. 1 day is not worth a whole generation worth of new CPU architecture.

We all knew it was coming in the next few weeks. I don't know why you chose to listen to some random sales rep looking to score a commission instead. That said, tell them straight up the rep lied to you and that you demand a refund. If that doesn't work, try what war suggested.
