Excellent timing, I'll hold off on installing new drivers in my new machine until these are finished and due a whole before/after comparison.

 

When do you think we'll be getting the 3870 version Vista32 of the new driver ?

 

No idea We are all on hold for now, seems they managed to fix the 64bit version one so soon i hope

 

... and does anyone have an idea when we'll be able to get the new 4870 from Alienware as spare parts for our M17 ?

Well see I used the 64 bit regular mob mod myself n like 2-3 other people said it worked and 2-3 said it doesn't.

Using Vista 32bits on my M17 crossifre 3870, do you think I should wait for the specific M17 drivers or will I see improvements with the general driver ? I think I tried it a few days ago buy he was not installed even though it seems to be detected upon setup....

 

You used the free part I guess.?! Any way imma go find this saposed cure for 9.2 that's out there and re do every thing. Nothing tweak just mobility modeed

If u play wow use 8.12 if u don't use 9.1(saposedly it doesn't play nice but i never have had a problem) i would recomend 9.1 for sure

Have you installed a new driver since reciving your M17? If not, than its Alineware ...

Yes I have already installed a new driver... I think it is 8.12 I found somewhere..... when I tried to install the one on the first page of this topic, everythink seemed to be fined but at the end I got an error message saying that the driver could not be installed..... then I had te revert to the previous one..

 

But this 9.1.... should I wait for the newest version that shows on the first page of this topic once it'll be ready for Vista32 ?

 

no just get the 9.1 for right now its the best out thats stable

btw you will not get a 20% boost i thought you were useing very old drivers expect liek 4-7 fps jump from 8.12 to 9.1

I have now installed 9.1 following Mr. Moo advise...... I wonder if I should try 9.2 now that its='s yet optimized for the M17 with 3870.....

 

....My main issue is Flight Simulator X... I believe I won't get any big improvements before the HD4870 is not released..... Maybe the 9.2 will bring something.....

 

yea you will not get any real big gains just 1-3 fps a driver if that. The 9.2 has been shown to raise 3dmark06 scores by 200 alone but i haven't read alot on game benchmarks.

Vista is giving me hell when I try to install video drivers no matter where I got them. I downloaded 9.2 from ATI's website and nothing installs but CIM when i run setup. No drivers found, no CCC, nothing. I can manually install them in device manager, but why would I have to do that if the installer is supposed to do everything? I redownloaded them twice and tried again after a clean vista install but the same thing happens. Also can someone with working 9.2 drivers post their gpu-z screenshot?

 

did you mob mod them? i had them awhile ago but had some issues

It doesn't work ! even using the modified .inf file you gave me during the install of Catalyst, I don"t get the windows arning message I usually get during driver install and at the end I get a warning message saying that the drivers could not be installed..... I go back to the 9.1....

 

ok good luck cassis i do not know what the differnece between 32 and 64 bit is but i just installed 9.2





all i did was boot in safe mode
went to device manager and uninstalled all drivers and software
restarted
ran mob moded set up

installed( screen did go black but i waited like 10 mins and nothing so reset the computer and it had installed fine ...)

 

Did that last night while trying 3 different .infs

Still no luck. Can probably get 9.2 to work if i tried but the main issue is to get it to work without the scaling issue.

it worke for me then i reinstalled my os about 8 times then it stopped. i'm using 8.12 now and i'm waiting for a real tweaked one.

 

Tried them all and E-Wrecks 8.12 continues to perform the best on my M17 running Vista 64.

 

What about 3DMark06? I heard that the new 9.2 should increase the score ... but does 9.2 outperform the AW driver?

uh im kinda lost. i have a toshiba with a hd3650 whats the best driver for me that allows overclocking with amd gpu tool?
i just found this e-wreck driver i dunno if it only works with alienware or all pc's and what about any other tweaker driver like xtreme-g?

 

I'm curios, is this only for laptops or can it be used for desktop cards as well?

 

I believe these laptop drivers are just desktop drivers that were mob modded?

 

which one works better 8.12 modded or 9.1 for vista 64, i am currently running 9.1. will it make sense to drop to 8.12?

 

Why settle for 9.1 when you can download 9.2?
