De-googled stock Android, or better FOSS custom ROMs like LineageOS, are just in another league from privacy standpoint. Out of the box, though - hard to tell. If one really cares about privacy, they definitely should be using neither Android with Google nor iOS - both are just terrible.

Settled out of court in a multi-million dollar payout. It was an apple employee as well. Not a third party contractor. NOT GOOD.

At least they will be able to offer freedom of choice with the iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. This below is something Microsoft should learn from. And I don't talk about the Win 10 LTSC. No OS or firmware should be forced on people @Mr. Fox @Ashtrix

Don't Like iOS 15 or iPadOS 15? Don't Worry, Apple Will not Force the Update onto You

By default, iOS and iPadOS updates download and install automatically overnight. Some users will argue that Apple forces you onto a newer firmware update. But, with iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, you can actually opt of that completely.

In fact, once you do opt out and stick around with iOS 14 or iPadOS 14, Apple will continue pushing security updates to you over the air. The company will keep on doing so until you decide to download and install iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. Basically, you don't have to download and install iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 at all.

It was a contractor from Pegatron. Even though it’s where Apple sends devices to be repaired, it was still a contractor.

Either way it’s their primary contractor for repairs so it’s equally as bad.

To think they don’t want independent repair shops so something like this wouldn’t happen. Kind of ironic.

At any rate, possibly the easiest couple of million bucks those folks ever made (on a bad laptop repair anyway) ;)

To scam their loyal users that bought that intel based system just last week when they were on sale and promised to be supported for "many years" (straight from Tim Crooks mouth). I guess the old addage is true. There is a sucker born every minute.

I only use mine to surf the net and watch videos. I suspect that it'll be able to do that for the foreseeable future and I paid significantly less than the M1 Mini would have cost.

They are still selling updated Mac Pro's with intel. Apple is the best bait and switch company in the world. Here, buy this 20k cheese grater off us...It's awesome. Inside the box after you get it is a note from Timmy himself.."oh, btw, some of our new OS features don't work with your new system. Have a nice day, here's an apple sticker".

Will you get security updates on lets say Win 10 1803/1809? And how many wake up the morning after with a brand new Win 10 version and have to spend the whole day clean it up instead for the usual work? They just forgot turn of Win Updates? :D

Some Windows 10 updates will soon be force installed

    Mandatory Windows 10 updates
While being forced to upgrade to a different edition of Windows 10 might rub some users up the wrong way, the decision has been made with the best interests of users at heart.

From my link above... In fact, once you do opt out and stick around with iOS 14 or iPadOS 14, Apple will continue pushing security updates to you over the air.

Can't be any better than be allowed to stay on the old and still have a secure OS :)

Android phones of that era work exactly the same. They don't get feature updates, but they do get security updates, they just don't scream it from their perches.

What phone? If you read about android and security, they automatically have security updates flow in via apps etc. So really, you are up to date on security. It's just not fired through a traditional "update". Android is more secure than iOS. Don't believe the kool aid drinkers, and spin machine at apple.

H990DS, its still notifies that I am on November, 2018 security patch, Its one of the leading causes to why they exited the phone market, they dont support their devices even if Android does. If LG doesnt update their devices then the carrier wont either.

I dont believe either side is without flaw, both OSes are ran and updated by humans after all.

Proof is in the puddin'. Apple CLAIMS they are secure, however, google is proving it. Simple. There are just as many rouge apps on the app store than there is in the play store. People can hack iOS easily through open lines apple has not patched. LOOOOOOOLLLLLLL!

Every company claims they are secure, which is more often than not deliberately why they arent. Drawing attention to that attribute is what challenges those claims.

Yes, Apple and it's minions shouting from the roof tops is laughable at this point. They are less secure than any platform.

Yes and no. about 10 years ago, iOS and Osx were indeed a more secure platform. iOS since android at the time was brutal. OSX at the time as nobody used it only a few schools and a couple of fanboys from said schools. Now that they are the "in crowd" starbucks dweller's device of choice, shady types are starting to exploit the many open doors to the garden. Apple is out of wood to patch the many holes too.

I disagree. I think WP8.1 or even WP10 is most secure since there are no apps or even app stores so no more rogue apps.
