so after all ADC is the best option which gives you the net value: $1,999 without having to sell an iPod, just the printer !!
with regular student account the value would be again $1,999 (minus iPod and printer) if we sell both the printer and iPod
-
my school uses all Apple stuff, so usually at the beginning of the year we can get deals that are way better than the regular school discount.
-
Hey guys where would you indicate your an ADC member? is there an option durring the checkout proccess or will it just apply it if you order with your ADC account?
-
It is definite that Apple verifies your ADC membership status before shipping out any order. You can order several times without becoming a ADC member, but you will get cancellation only.
-
anyone here attempt to get an ADC membership and received their discount and mac yet?
Also - when you purchase your membership, do you have to wait for something in the mail? or would you just go ahead and send in documents for student status verificiation? -
Yeah, I am telling, I just did it.
When you purchase ADC membership you have to wait for an activation mail, once you activate it you have to enter your School Name and Student ID NO, then you have to FAX your documents (Academic Transcripts or Student ID) to ADC, to make them process your activation you should call them, they are activating right away if they got proper documents.
To able to order, you have to see your Active Membership Status under your ADC account on "Active Assests" This is important, if you don't have Active Asset, and you ordered something it is going to be cancelled anyway.
All these steps took 1-2 days for me.
Good luck! -
You have to follow the link to the ADC Hardware Program Store on this page:
http://developer.apple.com/membership/usa.html
(or the appropriate link from this page for whatever country you're in):

did anyone here ever try to order more than one item as a studen ADC member?
I used my once in a lifetime rebate already a year ago and now I spoke with somebody on the phone, ordered a new MBP and got an offer. I just have to transfer the money to get it over with. hm... -
I wouldn't count on ever being able to use another discount from an ADC Select membership.
-
 I definitely agree!
-
Alright I just activated my ADC account, and faxed my documents to the number, now should I just go ahead and order, or should I wait for a confirmation of some sort?
-
-
Alright cool I'm still pending ill wait till tomorrow and see what happends
-
This is a great idea! Thanks OP!
Use dashcode to make an NBR widget and it isn't even cheating
-
My MBP pro finally shipped from Shanghai! So how long it takes to get it???
-
hmm it could take 10 days dude, since its out of the country, but i really dont know. Did they ship by your declared "ship by:" date or did it ship after?
Congratz btw, im still waiting =( -
Good news! It arrived in ANCHORAGE, AK today 12:20pm. Scheduled to delivered tomorrow
-
I GOT MINE! but I have YELLOW TINT Screen problem.
No flickering at low brightness, no dead pixels, no heat problems but yellow tint
What should I do for it now? -
You should return/exchange it (unless the yellow tint doesn't bother you).
-Zadillo -
Mine just shipped I hope i dont have any problems >_<. If we do have problems though can we exchange through an apple store?
-
Usually, yeah, a local Apple Store can normally handle an exchange/etc.
-
So I can make a reservation with genius bar, hope they have it in stock!
-
Yeah. If you call them to make an appointment you could ask them to check whether they have your specific model in stock or not.
I don't recall, did you buy yours through the ADC Hardware store?
If so, you might want to double-check with them on the phone whether they can handle an exchange for a defective unit; I'm pretty sure they can, but stuff bought through the ADC Store might be handled differently. You could call up the Apple Store itself as well and ask them about that, just to be safe and not waste time on a trip. -
Bleh, I've been looking on eBay and people are selling 4GB Nanos for $149 or less. You won't get the full $200 for it on eBay if you choose to re-sell it.
-
You also get a free printer right now so thats another $100 rebate.
-
I am dealing with yellow tint problem! This is my 3rd MBP, this is really annoying. Apple store doesn't want to exchange anymore, they claim it is within the SPEC!!! But they've changed it 3 times for the same problem! I am really disappointed.
-
Call up the main Apple Store number and do it over the phone.
Or don't leave the local Apple Store until someone takes care of it; you might need to ask to speak to a manager. Just stand firm with them.
-Zadillo -
Thanks Zadillo!
I will call them, but I am using my mac these days, I cannot ship it and wait. Apple doesn't send out the replacement before getting the old one right? -
Good question actually; I think it would depend on the situation, but I have heard of them doing this; that is, they'll ship you the replacement laptop along with the packaging to ship back the old one (usually if they don't get the old one back in a certain period of time though, they would charge you for the replacement laptop).
Not sure if this is standard practice or just something that is done in certain cases.

Is there a Chat link on Apple website? I want to ask them about the ADC student membership.. how much discount, if you can ask for Leopard later instead of having to Tigers now, because there's no use right ?
-
You don't need to talk to anyone to see the discount. You just login to the ADC Hardware store, and you will see the prices. It's like $1599 for the base model MBP and $1999 for the higher end model.
You can't ask for Leopard later (this wouldn't work anyway, they give you an empty MBP without an OS, and it wouldn't do you any good anyway).
It's POSSIBLE that Apple may give Leopard to ADC Student members, but it isn't something I would count on. -
I got my MBP and have using it for a week, no problem at all! =) no heat issues either! Thanks for all the info guys!
-
if you get the adc member discount, cant you also get the ipod rebate for being a student?? it is a student discount after all .... then it would be like 2099 -199 so like 1900 ish
-
No, you can't. The ADC Student membership gives you the ability to make one lifetime hardware purchase from the ADC Apple Store; purchases from the ADC Apple Store don't include the free Nano.
-Zadillo -
darn. well then I will try a adc purchase, and if that doesnt work out, my college offers the 2500 buck mbp for 2200 and you get the free nano, so there both about the same price. +free printer YAY!
-
That's a very good deal then, since Apple's educational pricing on that model is $2299.
I just ordered a MBP with ADC discount..but Im not a member?
