    Honestly nothing can go wrong

Its 100% insured as long as you dont stab it etc...

And if something goes wrong just pop in the old memory to see what the problem is, your pretty much safe from "damage" caused by 3rd Party RAM

I havent read the whole thread but MacBook should do just find for everything, and its more portable than MBP's and not to mention the fact that the MacBook is now very very close to the MBP 15" 's power... 20% slower at MOST on MAX speed etc...

I'm not sure if the ADC is US only or not so take a look at it to be sure before you ask him to go the ADC route. 4" for $15 isn't too bad.

Nah I can't I'd say. I saw the LG Flatron at the College Shop. And the old 17'' Apple monitor in some computer lab, both today. But I can't really see em side by side... The old one is surely a whole lot bulky and uses VGA instead of DVI, but is pretty much free...

Yeah it seems not bad of a deal. 17'' is big enough for everyday needs. I heavy and bulky, but will stay on my desk 99% of the time. I will have to get the 35$ adapter for VGA instead of DVI cause it's an old one...

I don't why you're dithering. You could have gotten the T400 or T500 (resolution better than any 17" external monitor, and the best keyboard made) for so cheap this week on a deal at fatwallet dot com (if you're in the US, but there are deals every week) on an awesome laptop that will smoke a macbook. That is assuming of course, you're not hung up on Mac OS X.

Edit: oops, I see you're in Canada. Hmmm, never mind. :)

    Nothing "smokes a macbook".

The build quality of the unibody's are unsurpassed. Normal laptops seem like epic fail in comparison.

There are monitors on many laptops that far exceed the quality of a Macbook's - I find their quality easily surpassed. And I'll take a ThinkPad keyboard and Trackpoint over anything. (Typing on my Macbook Pro, by the way)

Lol... The thinkpad is actually my second choice. That's pretty much one of the only pc's that you can compare to a macbook/pro without laughing.

JerryJ inadvertantly (I think) banged his 8530w pretty hard, and the laptop came out unscathed:

I got all my externals now, I'll be ordering the macbook shorty even maybe tonight... It prolly won't make a difference tonight or tomorrow... And I will prolly go get a LAROBE macbook sleeve at my college's shop after. That'll be top notch!

lol I will send you a pic of the externals when I'll have time to take it. Its old, used, stuff from a friend that still work really well, an old mac monitor, mac keyboard and laser mouse, for free lol. I will see if I need something more fancy or that they will do. They look great (especially for the price).

Hmm I think I will go with the 2,0 Ghz version. I don't need the bigger HD, neither the backlit keyboard or the extra 400 Mhz. If I feel its slow i will upgrade it to 4Gb of ram but my imac has 2gb and its great. The price is more reasonnable also...

Great choice! Hey, if you don't need the extra goodies, then why get them? ;) The RAM and HDD will offer the biggest speed increase, so that's where you want to spend the extra $$ for more HDD and RAM. My 2GB doesn't feel slow at all, infact it feels like the 4GB of DDR2 800 in my whitebook before the Unibody MB. ;)

Haha nice, I'm ordering it right now!... it says I'll get in 8 days (or in 2 to 5 days for a 19$ extra...) Why do they hide the taxes until the end of the transaction... that's dumb. It makes poeple think that they are included...

You'll love it! I'm learning new things every day with OSX I love it! I also love the fact that I have the OPTION to run BootCamp if I choose, not that I do but having that option is very securing if just in case.

I bought the 2.4ghz model and I must say you will be extremely happy with your purchase. =) Waiting on my cinema and I'm set!

Good luck on your purchase Thomas, make sure to get some pictures up of that sweet setup!

I'm gonna search for the things to do to make the screen better, i've seen some things like TV Gamma or something... that could help. I'll check for that.

I've been using my MacBook as my main for about 3-4 days now, and honestly I think most people are just being picky and over exaggerating to an extent. The viewing angels are much more tolerable then some make it out to be.

All you have to do to help with the screen is calibrate it. To do that, open system preferences > Displays > then go to your color profile and click calibrate. More TV gamma will make it look like you have a higher contrast level. It would help alot. ;)

Yes, I agree. It's nowhere near as bad as some people make it out to be, but I will admit, it's not like the MBP or MBA. It's been great for me, no complaints here. ;)

The screen is great, unless I have a bunch of lights opened around.

edit: I just adjusted it with the TV Gamma option, it made it greater!
