Unfortunately, one can grow old waiting for "soon" to happen. It's similar to the phrase, "just two more weeks"... oh wait, it's been nearly two weeks. :)

Sounds like you can't wait. Having problems? ;)

I have a friend who just ordered one of these laptops, any suggestions to avoid this issue?

Uh, basically just stop using the laptop once it gets below 25% battery. Then plug it in so it starts charging and then restart. It is extremely annoying.

    OMG...

What the heck is wrong with just using Throttle Stop?

I just let it run permanently in the background and the laptop is flawless...

Don't let this issue ruin the greatness of this lappy!

Ah man i hope Asus fixes this soon. I know, out of all the companies, they are one of the only ones that actually fix things, so hopefully they will come up with a bios soon. I'm using the TS in the meantime.

I haven't installed it yet, but I like to run a low-power setting when I'm using this in the office. Is there capabilities for that?

There is a semi-official 209 BIOS that addresses the throttling issue and fixes the return to AC issue. See here for more. Use at your own risk.

Damn, scare the poor lad away, why don't you.

FYI, using 2.09 beta here w/o incident. No throttling issues either.

The risk of bricking a laptop with a BIOS update, while small, is always there and can not be guaranteed to work 100 percent of the time for everyone.

There, I hope I put his mind at ease. :)

The link to the bios update still says the throttling happens but goes away once it is plugged in. That is worthless to me, I want ZERO throttling.

Well, that's going to be hell on your battery life, but knock yourself out. Use Throttlestop. That's what it was designed to do.

Never going to happen. I don't see Asus ever doing that.

Getting the laptop to return to normal clocks once on A/C I think is as good as it's going to get.

Also battery drains super fast when it's less than 30% anyways and playing games that's like 5 minutes of battery. Not missing out on anything IMO.

i use the throttle stop and i can say it an
awesome program so small and works like a charm.

takes less than a 1mb memory (i think people can give a 1mb to iir from 8GB )
just set as per ur preference and it does takes care of the rest.

hats off to the developer ..

So i've skimmed through all of these posts, and i cant really see anything that will help me, at least not anything i can personally do without help. I have this problem, when i use battery life and it drops (roughly) to 35%, it SERIOUSLY lags, on everything, opening web pages, games as simple as solitaire or out of the question, and i need to reboot before i play any games. As i have paid so much for the laptop, should i return it for a new one? This means shipment back to america (im in the UK) :(. IS there any fix for this that i can download? Also while im here, turbo boost...does it actually do anything? I notice no change whatsoever, the laptop doesnt even make a sound as if it has had an effect. Any help appreciated.

The whole thread directly addresses what you're talking about. Did you read it at all?

Check your BIOS- if it's not 209 or above, update to 209. Turbo boost is worthless.
