Ah. I love living in Texas hill country, spectacular views and weather and we never had a housing crash.

Anyway my laptop is out for delivery to my house.

I think the coasts and the north are going to become more and more inhospitable due to climate change. This will drive up land and home values in the central and southern USA over the coming 30-40 years.

I definitely would not want to live in California, or anywhere by the beach, or anywhere up north as climate patterns suggest cooling in the north and rising water on the coasts.

All I said was Newegg lives up to their end of the deal. Your shipping provider may differ. They will definitely receive your package, but whether they move it or not is a different story.

Yea, I live in the Quad city area on the Illinois/Iowa border and we got maybe 6-7 inches in the last few days.

Newegg has a warehouse in Nj that's why if you live in Jersey you pay sales tax, unless you ship it to your job across the bridge.

Mine is in transit to Philly, which is odd as it usually goes a different route.

hahah, our X1's were on the same plane coming into Indianapolis. Mine didn't leave there until 7:03AM though :-(.

Guys I have preordered the A2 from 2nd of Feb but as I have been told in XOTICPC I will propably receive it at middle of march so my question is if I get the X1 model from new egg will I be able to add another hard drive or there isnt a bay?

 

People will be able to definitively answer the drive bay question today. My guess is that yes, you'll be able to.

Mine's on the truck for delivery this morning. The order is still only showing as "charged" on their website though as apparently my HD that I ordered with it hasn't shipped yet. I figured that at worst I'd put the HD into my PS3 if there was no slot.

It'll be interesting to see if people will be getting a bag (and mouse) or not with their X1. I have one picked out just in case (nyuk nyuk).

Can't wait to play with my new lappie when I get home. Thanks to everyone on the site! Course, now I have to explain it to the wife....

 

I'm pretty sure I wont be returning it as I've been obsessing over it for a month and even though new egg wont return it unless there's 8+ dead pixels ASUS still has a zero dead pixel for 30 day policy.

 

I dont think that the bag and the mouse will be provided with the X1

 

It isn't. The shipping weight is 5 lb difference b/w the A2 and X1.

Also, the pics are up on newegg and no bag or mouse.

They are going to be gone today and the next shipment is, what did they say?

March 4th 2010 I believe is how long you will wait if you don't get it now.

Also there is a 30 day zero dead pixel policy even with Newegg.

The second drive is not a "bay" you remove the bottom of the laptop and connect it to the second SATA port on the MB - obviously you will need to screw it in place. The second drive is not on one of the sides like it slides in.

It is put in through the bottom.

 

wow Newegg went from 120 to 38 yesterday.

There is a HDD bracket used to secure the hdd in the bay. That bracket might not be there if you only have 1 hdd. We will find out.

 

I'm not sure what you're getting at, but just because China might have 2 week migratory vacations doesn't mean Taiwan does. The fact that both countries names have China in their name is irrelevant.

As dtwn said, I'm sure ASUS has plants in China, but I would assume that those plants would be making things that are more sold in bulk that there wouldn't be a shortage of... like packaging materials.

But even if the "bracket is not there the space is there and the connection on the motherboard is there.

It will accept the second drive - it is simply a question if it slides in or you will have to secure it through your own mechanism.

A very minor mod.

The extra SATA port is there and the space is there, we just have to see if ASUS actually put the bracket or if we improvise our own.

Wait... They're shipping out of the east coast? You guys better hope your FedEx semi doesn't wreck. Just on my way from Tennessee to Indiana on Saturday I saw about 8 semis flipped, wrecked, or otherwise off the side of the road, several of them being FedEx. And that was in Illinois... God knows how bad it's going to be on the East coast with up to 4 ft of snow and blizzard conditions...

 

Correct. I think the point everyone is making was whether or not that bracket is there.

 

Sorry if i missed it, but im about 16000 in line from xotic for an A1 and I come home for R&R in mid march for 2 weeks before going back to Iraq. Is there a good chance I'll get it delivered by then or is it looking like Aprilish?
