it's okay, as long as I see how the GPU works before it's released.
maybe you can download the installer at home and put it in like a USB and install it @ CES? you think it's possible?
-
-
No I don't think I would get away with that TBH. Safer to stick with wireless.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
you dont have a usb drive?
also try 3dmark vantage if you can...
striker, can you post these test as pre benchmarks of the machine on the first page? -
iAta has a drive, just doesn't think the Asus reps would be too happy about him putting a flash drive in and running installs..
-
That PCMark Vantage Gaming bench is the same as one of the tests in 3DMark Vantage so they should be quite useful in a comparison. We just need someone with a 280M GTX to download PCMark Vantage and run the gaming bench. -
fraps
... i couldn't select extreme burning mode -
Yea I think they would escort you out of CES if you tried it.
-
-
-
I didn't run FurMark in benchmark mode.
Moo if you select Stability Test, tick Xtreme Burning Mode, Full Screen 1080p no AA and monitor FPS in top left. -
I know you didn't =P next time you get a chance tho.
-
9 FPS was my MAX after couple mins
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
that's a big difference.
-
15 FPS was max for g73jh-a1 right? idk anything about furmark stability test so idk
is 6fps difference big? -
thats 6FPS not 4 =]
-
Means the new ati card is definitely a step up from the 280m though - unless I'm analysing this wrong.
Very nice if true -
well... 66.67% faster -
iaTa earlier posted the Vantage scores of the G73JH, and wanted a reference point. Here is a reference, of a 260m GTX, but with a considerably slower processor if core i7's boost was enabled, and I'm sure it was.
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-mySN-XMG5-Clevo-M860TU-Notebook.17146.0.html
(Score - 4500) w/considerably slower CPU
Score of G73JH - 6070
If you factor in the lower CPU power, I'd say it actually looks kind of neck and neck with a 260m GTX.
But obviously much lower power consumption and heat production. -
What about average - G73 was 15 FPS average over about 3 minutes.
Just tried my 4670 and average was 7 FPS. -
Master I posted the PCMark Vantage Gaming bench results, not the whole suite.
-
average is only 8
-
none of PcMark's tests even touch the GPU, it only tests the CPU,Ram and
BTW, here's the official AMD press release for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5xxx series:
http://www.amd.com/us/press-releases/Pages/5000-mob-graphics-2010jan07.aspx -
that score was with a Q9000 which can get 8,000 points+ in vantage. the CPU in the G73's bench only received 8600...at a low resolution. so the CPU they are using isn't being utilized properly. also, the G73 scored 7240 w/ a CPU score of 8600 so the GPU score is probably around 7,300, whereas the GPU score for a GTX260m is ~5000 or less -
EDIT: It says GPU gaming?
Moo could you download PCMark Vantage and just run the Gaming bench? -
lol i can't the download is to big
I have very very crappy internet -
5870 with highly overclocked core + ram should be very nice provided Asus doesn't neuter the card. Hey Moo, it looks like the M17x refresh is coming pretty soon, they've pulled the configurations entirely from Europe.
-
I know
it will be avaliable in January shipping in late jan early febIMO *
I will put the G73 through its test when i recieve it and ALSO will make ALL my Guides since Donald has consented -
aah, it does both, cpu and gpu, but not a true measure of gaming performance
Well here it shows M15x got 6337 in gaming suite:

http://hothardware.com/Articles/Asus-G51j-Gaming-Notebook-Review/?page=6
This got a higher "gaming" score from PCMark Vantage
260M GTX -
-
-
-
sigh. I'm done trying to get through to people in this thread lol. We tested 3Dmark VANTAGE, and with the SAME EXACT TEST, 260m clocked at nvidia reference clocks got 5,000 GPU score. whereas the G73 got a 7300 GPU score. same resolution. the 5870 is GREATLY faster than a 260m.
-
I've seen 260m GTX score well above 5000 3DMark all over the web, and that's at 1280 x 1024, no gimmicks, unlike the 1376 x 768 or whatever the G73JH test was done at.
-
I'm done trying to get through to you, if you have nothing positive to say, stay out of the thread, we have no use for your negativity. When the 5870 arrives, and scores 13,500+ stock 3dmarks, you will be the one shown the truth.
-
Yeah we need someone to run through those individual tests within the PCMark Gaming bench as we can compare the GPU specific details like FPS.
I've found something which could help bench 3DMark06 but I need a rapidshare premium account - send me a PM if you have one going spare. -
-
-
lol. he just doesn't get that I OWN a GTX260m, and I KNOW WHAT MY OWN SCORES ARE. if he saw one over 5,000 marks, it was overclocked.
-
Guys lets keep everything on path as this is a great thread
-
-
iaTa, do you mind posting all your findings include 3d mark vantage scores and benchmark wise on first post? It'll be easier for me (and perhaps other people) to follow the current news we have in here. I find myself got thrown out of few 10's of pages in 1 day lag !! xD

dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i didn't see that post. unless you are talking about the post from asus when they did the res at 1378*768????
-
-
My 26o with a p8600 hits 5600 ish with the CPU at 3.0
overclocked 6300
So I'm lost with what y'all are argueing -
http://en.expreview.com/2010/01/08/ati-mobility-hd-5870-beats-geforce-gtx260m/6383.html
When equipped with Core i7-720QM 1.60GHz processor, 8GB of RAM and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 graphics card, the system scored P7260 in 3DMark Vantage benchmark.
Another Asus’s offering – G60, which uses GeForce GTX260M and Core i7-820QM 1.73GHz only scored P5240, lagging behind by nearly 40%. -
