Hot air coming out is a good thing dude......that is heat that is NOT in your laptop heating up your components to the point of failure
there are MANY Dell m1730 owners who wish they had hot air coming out and not a hot laptop

how does this laptop compare to 280m gtx sli performance wise what should I expect compared to 260m 360m and gtx280 game wise?

Right now I'm more interested in the ASUS G73 or the Alienware M17x-R2. I'm waiting to see some benchmarks and reviews on both once people start getting there hands on them.
Don't get me wrong the W90 is still impressive. The more I read about it the more I envy those who got them. If I had gotten one when it was released I'd likely keep it for as long as it lasted. But, since the Intel Core 2 Duo and Intel Core 2 Quad are now at the end of their life cycle I'm interested in laptops with I7 processors. -

Core i7
Nvidia GTS360M
4GB DDR3
500GB HDD
Not a bad system, but not as sexy as the G73 -
are there any gts 360 benchmarks out there yet?
-
no, its a "new" rebranded card by Nvidia, so the G51JX to my knowledge is the first to have this card...
-
i thought that the qosmio or whatever was packing it too...maybe i am wrong.

Okay, so I am getting anxious. I need some new information otherwise i may freak out. I am currently without a PC. Sold the desktop and the laptop i previously owned to get the G73. I only have a sheety work computer. I need a benchmark, a new pic, or something to feed my anxiety. I have been considering other computers which would just be a dumb move. Someone help me.

I'm hangin' tight, although I am a little irked that ATI has not released any chips for review. They launched the thing at CES, so there is no excuse.

I just want to see how this performs against gtx 280m. lol

So If the reseller are selling the CPU's for the full retail price aren't they charging us a lot for the labor?, can't we do something else to save some money?,
And I have a question with the ram is there a lot of difference in the 8gb 1066mhz and the 8gb 1333mhz? Is the 400$ upgrade worth it? -

here are the pics(thanks to Ken@gentech!) for people who're too lazy to go back searching through the forum:

there is a performance difference with the i7 but it isn't worth the cost.

One of these of a Sony F11 were going to be my backup options if the G73 got pushed back too far but things look good right now. -
Where could I buy this in Taiwan? Does anyone know a website?

I'm still trying to figure out if I want RAID or not (and if I do, what kind I want). So I have another question (or two).
RAID 0 is probably the obvious choice for most people, but being the paranoid person that I am, I worry about one of the discs crashing and losing all my data. RAID 1 may be safer, but it just feels like a waste to me. If I become religious about backing up my files (something I rarely do now), I would feel much better about RAID 0. So now my first question: I have a desktop with Vista on it. Will backing up the files from my laptop be as easy as hooking up my G73 (with Windows 7) to my desktop (with Windows Vista) and transferring the files? If it is, I'll probably go with RAID 0.
Next question. For those of you ordering your G73s with an SSD drive for your primary drive, is RAID an option for you or is it not possible with two different kinds of drives? The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking of getting my G73 with standard drives and then replacing the primary drive myself with an SSD at a later date (then I'd have a spare drive in case one crashes, or I could make an external hard drive out of it, or maybe even just sell it). Assuming that I replace the primary drive myself later, should I order my G73 with RAID disabled (making sure to save everything to my secondary drive)? I would assume (and I'm no expert, so I might be talking gibberish here) that if I ordered with RAID 0 and used it that way for a while, I might run into troubles when I replace my primary drive, as all my data would be split between both drives. Does this make sense or am I totally clueless?
Thank you for any suggestions,

Raid has next to 0 performance benefits when using an SSD. Single SSd/No raid is the way to go.
Well, let me correct that. There is a performance increase, but a good SSD drive is so fast to begin with, that it would be hard to recommend a RAID ssd setup. -

I rang several resellers in Taiwan today and none of them even have heard of this model yet -

Update:
There will be two MB versions for G73Jh, if it's Core i7 CPU then it'll have 4 memory slots and if it came i5 or i3 there will only have 2 memory slots since i5 and i3 CPU will only support up to 4GB, however, there is no plan to release i5 and i3 version for G73. -
I got a question on ASUS warranty....
I see a lot of websites selling ASUS G73J are offering customerization to CPU spec.
However, one of the resellers here in Australia (Jeff from AffordableLaptops.com.au ) says that he does not offer CPU change because it voids the factory warranty......
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1353581&p=14
Can someone confirm whether that is the case or not? If it's true, why are almost all online stores offering CPU change? -
I don't know what's their warranty policy in Australia but here in US, resellers are allow to upgrade CPU without void the warranty and sometimes but not officially, they also allow end-users to upgrade the CPU. -
Thanks Ken! -

Where can I find the details of the so called "Limited Global Warranty". I know with Asus reputation as one of the best warranty providers, I don't have to worry much but still I would like to know what exactly is "Limited" in the warranty.
-
Nice best buy will getting it awesome better if their is any problems or bsods, and plus you don't have to pay for shipping! lol But it will be getting 4 gigs only? Oh well, what other chipset will the machine have?
-
Best Buy will get G73 too? If they do, will that have Asus Global Warranty also or only BB warranty?
-
It has a year global warranty with best buy they want you to buy their warranty but if it doesn't come with a blu ray drive then j and r i go.
