But you have to look at the relative pricing for where it's being sold... It's ~5600 for the reduced config, or ~6700 for the full one. That would put a US one at around $1400.
-
The question is though, will this version be sold at BB which tends to sell budget versions of laptops (or this is the case with ASUS 'G series only). The version with i5 and lower screen res, less RAM/ HDD would seem to fit BB's price range. And would be a good successor to the G72 I guess. -
If I got the G73JH for 1645 it would be equivalent to 2300$.
Thing is, the most cheap I can find is the No-BluRay version for 1800, which equals 2550$.
So, I would say 1900$ < 2550$.
Sure, we could order from the US, but in the end, with shipping and the Customs Office taxes, we would end up paying the same (with a US keyboard). -
See, that kinda stinks.
I have a local shop by me that only sells lower end laptops, the sub $500 region.
Great for netbook users and the casual net surfer I guess. I don't see me buying from best buy though. I had a couple friends with bad results by settling for dimmed down models or resales. I cringe at the thought of toshiba laps now lol
On the plus side, it's tax time in the US so I will deff have the cash for this baby. Kinda happy for the delivery ETA now cuz my return wont be here until after Feb 3rd. Happiness is on the horizon. -
If so, I may have to order from Poland (I'm UK based). I can't see UK prices being anywhere near that good, and obviously one doesn't pay import VAT or customs duty if you're importing from another EU country.
I was also considering the HP Envy 15 w/ 5830 & i7 1080p panel .. it's likely to cost £1500 in the UK, which is excessive. Do you know of any Polish sites which carry the HP Envy line?
Thanks! -

Do you read Portuguese? Here is a manual if you do...

Also, on a quick side note, I have a HP Envy 15 for sale brand new in box if your interested -
Either way, I'd still be interested in hearing what they say when they get back to you.
I'm interested in the updated Envy 15 with USB 3.0 & a 5830, but thanks -
What I do know, is that it will vary by carrier, some companies (fedex being one) will automatically charge you import duty on the total value no matter what is put down, whereas others leave it up to customs to decide. -
-
If an individual were also to try the same, then should be wary of those carriers that automatically charge the duty. -
Not in Pure Portuguese, but Brazillian.
Nothing interesting in there, just some precautions, the ports it has (no e-sata), it talks a bit about the ram slots (4) and how to use the recovery CD.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
benchmarks in notebookcheck are unreliable. -

He's gonna get all the info he can from their supplier, whether or not I can have the modification I want, if not if they can do it themselves (just the thermal paste), and the exact price. -
I guess you probably get that quite often.
If the price is competitive with the Polish site, then I'd probably order from them - as, I guess, would others. Which would obviously make it more worth their while. -
Any1 know if the i5 CPU in the EU modell, will be upgradeable to i7 CPU? (The question is not that will it void the warranty, its that will the notebook support it)
According to the Polish webshop, it will have HM55 chipset too. -
Hi guys just checking out gentechs website again for the g73, tempted to hit the order button, and i've noticed that the ETA is February 10. I guess our waiting is akmost over. Cant wait for some benches before i commit to it.
-
ooops sorry guys i meant February 10

I am not saying what the legalities of all that would be, I am neither a lawyer nor freight forwarder, but it might be worth a look for those near the UK. As I recall VAT interaction with exempt territories is very dependent on the underlying type of good or service, and of course you would still need to find someone there at a minimum. Still, fun to ponder. -

I guess Xotic is getting the fancy G73JH WC models, eh?
-
Hope the release dates don't advance. Mass effect 2 coming out and I haven't even played Mass Effect One yet because my current laptop MSI w/X1600 just couldn't hack it at playable (enjoyable) framerates or settings. Been looking at the AW M17x and the NP8760 as second choices if this doesn't pan out.
-
Well if you're a student, AW has 10% off EPP available now and there's an additional 5% off EPP coupon that expires tonight. A bunch of people ordered a system today. -
Thanks, the M17x config I wanted came out to $2700 even with the discounts that's a big price increase and no blue ray. I'm fixing to deploy and want a gamer/movie machine. I do hear the voices in my head saying do it anyway! Maybe I need an aluminum foil hat

I guess his translator turned Configuration into urination......

Wow.....
Ya know, comparing with the G73JH, I recently priced a similarly config'ed M17x. It came to a price of $2,609.00 w/o tax, the same Asus warranty, mouse, or backpack. So lets subtract the 15% discounts being spoken of here today, and we have $2,217.65. Now add a sales tax of $155.23, and we have $2,373.88.
The G73JH is prices in at $1,645.00..... $727.88 less than today's price for the M17x. Sorry, but I am still not seeing the value in a M17x purchase, so maybe the M17x discussion can be carried on in it's appropriate thread?
Thank you!

sorry to derail, i was toying more then anything since it was so boring here
sorry guys.... -
Yeah the value is more in the Dual cards and RGB LED then everything else...
The M17x still wont have 8gigs of RAM a BD drive and 2x500gig HDs all for that price.... many would argue they dont need that stuff anyhow because i have had this conversation before with a few peoplebut even if i didnt need that stuff i still would like it
...
The whole bashing back and forth between systems is pretty lame and if you like one manufacture more then the other so be it and more power to you ...
I have owned 5 Alienwares and so many other systems inbetween it makes sick even thinking about so i have 0 bias and i just want what ever is going to make ME happy ... No need for people to rain on others parade for what ever reason i will never understand... -
The Asus laptops on a whole are solid machines and ARE AMAZING FOR THE MONEY, they are much better for the money then alienware anyday.
I like Alienware yes, but does my "like" extend further then my intelligence ? No. I will ALWAYS get what makes most sense for the value ( unless my curiosity as a computer enthusiast gets the best of me).
So I am sorry if people thought i was bashing, i love the asus and i do think going back and forth between which laptop e-peen is better.
Each person is different and their needs as well and each person chooses which is best for them and NO one can say theirs sucks more then their own ... but which laptop is better is subjective to the owner.
Each of these laptops play to a different market and i get that and I just don't want to be viewed as a D-bag
So there is my thoughts... "each to their own". Every one has a reason for chooseing which one they do ... Don't think your better ... -
Was not directed at you Moo as you already know but just a general statement ....
