Thanks Justin, you are a jewel too!
-
Hey Justin, do companies ever give you guys an idea on how big of shipments you're going to receive? I presume for new models they most likely wont.
I am a little curious on how many preorders you have received so far, this baby seems like it's going to sell fast! -
Just to share with the crew, I pre-ordered mine on Jan 2nd =)
-
Grats! You are now a proud member of the "cool" crowd
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
We have estimates on what we will received but unfortunately confirmed units we will not know until the last minute when they are shipped to us. As you can see by this thread I am sure all resellers see this as a popular model.
-
I was member of the crew way before
-
just put my order in with xotic yesterday! hopefully i wont have to wait till march to get it
-

Yeah, I think it is interesting what PcCanada.com is doing. They are showing 100 units arriving at each of their stores on 02-09-2010, and the number of units "back-ordered" (pre-ordered). I could see where this could potentially back-fire, but at the same time, it says to the consumer; "ONLY 100 Units in the first shipment!.... XX are already sold!..... I BETTER ORDER FAST!!!".
The O'l 'Sense of Urgency' conditioning..... I can see where this could have it's advantages. Food for thought, Justin?
LOL!
-
That's the only thing I am afraid of. I wont have the money until Feb 3rd, so I hope I can sneak in for the 1st shipment. Xotic PC got my vote, very user freindly site and good service. Great for a 1st time lappy buyer such as myself
-
Good luck on getting one from the first shipment!
these things are selling like hot cakes.
-
yea I know :\ One can wish though. It'll be about 2wks b4 my birthday so maybe I'll get lucky enough
-
yep my birthdays march 4 so im hoping for the same thing.
is the ATI 5870 the best and newest card out there right now? just curious.. i know its good but im wondering how good compared to everything else -
Speculation is yes. It is the first DX11 mobile card out. We'll find out if it's the best performing once it's released.
-
With over 400 pages to this thread, you probably know this has been talked about over and over.
-
Envy has 5830 and people already received their lappies (beats edition).
-
Ncix Vancouver Canada has 88 preorders so far with %10 down...
M -
Its weird, NCIX and PCCanada has the exact same stock sold. Its off by 1 now, but they're usually the same during the evening (Real Time Stock not so Real Time?)..which could mean that only 200 are shipping to Canada..and they're split between all resellers.
-
this thread has 402 pages and about 350 pages of repeated uselessness. we should consolidate all the actual info in a new thread!

Well, it's getting close folks!
Asus just posted 34 download files for the G73JH: (select 'Windows 7 64-bit')
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?model=G73JH&SLanguage=en-us
-
I guess I should have said the 5000 series.
-
Go to g73jh owner's lounge, you can find all information there.
And we got nothing to talk about, why not talk about something else?
-
Awesome! The video driver is conspicuously missing though...
-
As expected, since Asus did say that the graphics drivers weren't completely optimized yet. But this worries me as the notebooks should be shipping over very soon...
-
Yea, I remember seeing in notebookcheck preview that driver for 5870 wasn't final and when they do finish it the gpu will perform better.
-

Yeah, and no bios .BIN file either.....
-
Let's hope at least one consumer has it in their hands before they need to update the bios.
Of course, after a recent Toshiba Qosmio bios update made it so my wife's computer won't wake up from sleep, I'm a little more hesitant to be an early adopter of any bios.
-
I bet you didn't hear about the latest M15x bios update that required system board replacement to fix.
-
Eek, that's really scary! Although rolling back the Qosmio bios doesn't fix the wake from sleep issue either, so hopefully they can actually fix it with a future bios. In the meantime, I have it all configured to hibernate instead of sleep, which really hasn't been too bad, since it seems like the SSD makes that a reasonably fast procedure.
-

WOW, I hadn't heard about that one...... did it overvolt something?
-
ya it bricked some systems. Motherboards need to be replaced. I haven't touched my bios in about a year but just update my display drivers and don't have any issues.
-
ExcaliberPC has their ETA as Feb. 11th.
-
I never heard of what the final reason was.
-
Getting ready to pre-order; sorry if these have been covered before but no time to read 404+ pages:
Possible upgrades: faster CPU and/or Intel wireless card, worth the cost???
Facts are fabulous but opinions welcome too. Thanx! -
I will save you the search.
1st No. End of. Very minimal performance gain. VERY minimal.
2nd Possible. Remains to be seen if it supports three wire cards. Or something or rather... lol -
Upgrading to SSD will be more noticeable performance gain.
-
it's not a very minimal performance gain for the CPU.
even though it's not worth it for the PRICE, there is a performance difference between for example, 720 and 820.
and for the wireless cards, if there are only 2 antennas in g73jh there's no performance gain, but if there are 3 antennas then there will be a performance gain.
He's not talking about HDD. -
Thanks! Luckily I have a Crucial 256GB SSD I'll be taking out of my Gateway 7811 to put in this pup.
Anyone else? -
I read somewhre that 720 to 820 has the most increase (3-6fps in games) while 820 to 920 has practically no gain. Thats if we are talking games of course. This is a gaming laptop after all.
-
The bios they posted wasn't the entire thing
-
Am I to understand that when the units ship in to the resellers on the 10th (ETA), there will be additional time added to make modifications to those who purchased upgrades? If so, does this mean the units that are base models ship out first regardless of when the resellers got the pre-orders?
-
I just heard from our bookstore manager (the guy ordering the G73 for me). He heard back from govconnection.com (the government reseller side of pcconnection.com) and they said that they don't have any in stock like they claimed they would today. He's calling back to see what the ETA is.
Sorry for the misinformation folks. If I hear anything else that suggests a pre-feb 10th release I'll let you guys know but like all of you....I'm skeptical. :-( -
Haha everyone knew this was going to happen so you don't have to be sorry.
-
Apparently p4laptops in Aus is offering the 820 upgrade for only $375AUD ($340USD). Unfortunately, the store also lists e-sata, express-card, and 1920x1200 gfx, so I'm unsure how reliable it is...
-
if anybody wants to check back to the ASUS support site, they now added 5 utilitiy downloads and.... the VGA DOWNLOAD
-
What 640x480?
-
wow wow, i just went back to the link: http://go.notebookreview.com/?id=52...oad/download.aspx?model=G73JH&SLanguage=en-us
and it seems it was removed back to the 34 available files. I know this seems like i was lying but under Utilities there were 13 and there was a new VGA category. can someone go the site and check if it is just my computer or did they actually remove those links?
thanks, and sorry -
I'm seeing the VGA link still. So it's not just you. Under Win7
EDIT: ...aaand now its gone. So there's something kinda weird about that support site. Maybe it doesn't like Firefox.
EDIT Again: So if anyone goes there and sees it, GRAB IT!!!! It seems to disappear -
VGA section is there again.
edit: seems like it's gone again. oh well.
