That's a really nice score with the 9.12's and you have the QX9300.. Sweeet! But I read somewhere that if you install these drivers you will lose the CCC (Catylist Control Center) or have issues installing it.. Is that true? If so, how can you get the CCC back?

Also... Are these the regular 9.12's or the new Hot Fix 9.12's?

There are no issues with CCC and the Cat 9.12 drivers, at least not on the M17x.

    hello everyone,
This is my first post but i have been keeping with the forum for a while now. I just put my pre-order in and I am very excited, since this is my first gaming laptop. I am planning on having this not just a gaming laptop but used for multimedia as well ( watching bluray, movie editing, music editing ). I figured it would be just based on the specs, but i was curious on what you guys might think. Also does anyone really know how good the speakers are?

Just to give you an idea. I like the fact that there's a "bubwoofer"
And for movie editing and music editing, this laptop has i7 cpu which means that it shouldn't give you problems.

I've never owned a "gaming" laptop before but this machine caught my eye because it has similar specs to that of my desktop gaming system.....which I expect to be able to handle games for the next 203 years quite well.

I play WoW, L4D2, surf teh pr0n, and I plan on playing Diablo 3 as well.....this should be able to handle all of that with plenty more power to boot.

This laptop / deal is so tasty I think a lot of people who never considered a gaming laptop are checking their credit card balances for this one.

Ive heard of Kobalt being a good retailer there in UK from what others have posted.

EDIT: Try this thread right here. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=90185

Another forum member, Angelic, has an awesome resllers guide here that will definately help you and a multitude of people looking for resellers outside the US. Striker, mind posting a link to this for the peeps outside the states?

That would be cool, and they could match up high volumes of signups to this thread against impending laptop releases. I'm pretty sure there's been about 20 new forum members because of this so far (me one of them)

I ordered it from the states actually. I sorta regret doing that, regardless of the bucks I'll be saving, because between customs and delivery I wont be getting this for atleast 2-3 weeks after the release date. I just was one of the first few to order and that was way before it started getting listen in Australia. Oh well.

Yes! Diablo 3 FTW!! I am sooo waiting for that one. I even started playing Titan Quest again in anticipation of it's release. Torchlight is another hack n slash that isn't too bad either. Plenty loot drops and a pet to use to carry stuff (just like Fate). What I am interested in is seeing if the new DX11 tessilation will be for use in Need for Speed: Shift. I can run at max on my Q6600 and 4GB Ram, imagine what it will do in the G73.

I am an RTS fan, just not the Empire game. I loved the Dawn of War series, World in Conflict and Command & conquer (the older ones). I even enjoyed SW: Empire at War and Age of Mythology. Kudos if Total War is your game sir, nothing wrong with that.

I'm going with P4laptops because they were offering the thermal paste and the upgrade to 820 for only $375.
Their site unfortunately seems to lack credibility because of a lot of incorrect information, that's a crazy price on the 820QM.

Also, mentioned above, I've been playing Torchlight on my DELL 9400 and have had to set it to "Netbook" mode because it kept crashing my GPU. Although only an indie game, I really want to check it out with the bling turned on.

Yeah their site seems to be a bit of a hit and miss. I am leaning towards LBO for - as you mentioned - their good DOA and dead pixel policy. However, not happy about having to pay straight away without having stock.

i went with affordable laptops cause he was quite friendly, and i dont have to pay until i know the stock is coming into aus that week, something you may want to consider heavenly :)

yeah p4 laptops looked dodgy as, especially when they want money upfront :|

what sound card comes with this laptop aswell?? is it the EAX HD or norm version??

Well the only thing I don't like about AffordableLaptops is that the DOA is only 7 days and there is no DOA policy on dead/bright pixels. Meaning if you get one with a faulty pixel, you cannot exchange or swap it.

But Affordablelaptops won't even let you return or exchange it just for the pixel issue. It is not covered within the 7 day DOA period.

Well you have been lucky. I know and have heard of many with that issue. It is definitely not impossible to get one with a pixel problem.
