Not necessarily, the price needs to say If it's including VAT or + vat. And the places I've seen it listed say neither. Altho I did find a laptop supplier for businesses who listed it as around £1750 + VAT, as a vat registered business claims the vat amount back so the vat figure isn't really of interest to them. But finding that answered my question, as the including VAT price goes over £2000 :-(

Looks like the G752 will come with a 66WHr battery and a 180W AC adapter on both the VT and VY models. This is down from 88WHr and 230W AC from the G751 JT and JY.

Where does it say it's shipping with lower power? I just looked at the manual and it only says that the available power bricks the 3 series have is 180w and 230w. I am assuming that the 980m will be using 230w and 970m and lower 180w.
However I asked on the forums about it and will message back here when I get a reply. I am assuming the 180w is sufficient for 970ms?Last edited: Oct 20, 2015 -

970M cards can run on 150W PSUs so yes 180W is enough to give head room.

Also interesting is that the VT is lighter than the VY, so perhaps unlike the G751, the 970M model will ship with the slimmer form factor.
-
The weight and thickness are different between the vt and vy, I thought because the the 980m in the vy has that copper pipe cooling?

All of the systems will use copper heatpipes. It comes down to the number and size of the fins at the end of those pipes.

just placed my preorder. now we play the waiting game

Ah the worst part is usually the waiting

Is it just me, or does it look like the G752VY-RH71 no longer exists?
It's still listed on some reseller sites (Xoticpc, Gentech, Excalibur), but it's no longer in the Asus store and was never on Amazon or Newegg.
Do you think the bargain model has been cancelled for now? -

Yes, the US dollar has recovered a fair bit from when it was equal.

I see a local-ish retailer lists the VT-DH72 as in stock, both online and in store, so I'm hoping a few reviews will start trickling out soon!
Based on the available info, I'm now trying to decide whether to hope for a G751JY-DB72 on sale or whether I'll settle for the GTX 970m in a VT model ($2100 locally). I'd prefer not to drop three grand on a laptop unless there's a huge jump from the 751 to the 752, performance-wise.
Either way, and even with a 970m, I'll see a ridiculous jump from my five-year-old G73JH! -

There are storage/chipset performance gains, but with the same GPU generation comes the same gaming performance.
-
One of the reasons I've loved my current Asus and am leaning that way again is the excellent heat management vs. fan noise issue, and one thing that's still staying my hand is the question of whether the 752 will actually run cooler and quieter with more easily accessible fans. The G73 is very easy to clean, but I've read that's not the case for the G751. -
I don't think they will be any more accessible. ASUS have basically done away with that. The cooling should be at least a little better, ASUS have been talking about the new vapor chamber tech. Overall I'd expect the G752 to be similar in alot of ways to the 751, except Skylake based, perhaps slightly better thermals and obviously a different aesthetic. So whether it's worth it really depends on how the G752 is priced and where the G751 prices end up.
For existing G751 users like myself there is not much of a reason to upgrade. Skylake and it's platform are better but not in a meaningful enough way. Once Pascal arrives in the G753 then it might be time to take another look. New GPU gen to go with the CPU and platform upgrade. -
For those who are interested Digital Trends just a posted a rather brutally honest review on their website.

So the smaller battery is confirmed. Pretty weird decision, 2.5 hours of web browsing is shockingly bad. Pretty unscientific review with regards to cooling and noise so probably best to wait for other reviews there.
Skylake performance is really strange. Similar to the AT review, it's showing less performance than Haswell/Broadwell. I am guessing the DDR4 in the G752 is too slow. -

Is nobody gonna comment on the gigantic distracting fat bezel around the screen?

In this case the machine was made to be the size for everything they wanted to achieve rather than restrict it to the panel.

Here's another review:

Thanks for sharing those reviews, Scorpio187.
I'd say the first one is useful, but the second one is a little too "Yay, we have a review model" for my liking.
If the Digitaltrends review is anything to go by, I think a G751jy is in my future. -
Hey, you're welcome!
Regarding the review, I'd say don't jump to any conclusions and wait till anandtech and notebookcheck post theirs first. As you may know those are one of the most reputable ones.
I've been using my MSI GX660R for the last 5 years and frankly it's time to move on. I was considering purchasing their GT72, but decided to wait when I found out about G752.Last edited: Nov 9, 2015 -

If you can get a good deal on a G751, I'd say go for it. The biggest benefit of Skylake (beyond accepting up to 64GB of RAM) from my perspective is that its idle power draw is substantially lower than Haswell, so your idle temps will be better. Just make sure you get a G-SYNC model.Last edited: Nov 10, 2015 -

If you are really i/o intensive it's also a nice boost, most people are not but plenty of bandwidth.
-
Also Windows 10 Update TH2 will slightly improve Skylake performance. In some benchmarks by nearly 50% (special cases), while in others around 0%.

For most people it wont make a difference, but fair enough for those edge cases.

Is anyone else other than me extremely bothered by the pricing of the top end VYs? I've been looking forward to the ASUS refreshes for a long time but the more I browse the market, the more it seems like ASUS is suffering from severely incompetent marketing.
The MSI GT72s at $2200 will ship with the 6820HK Processor, 980M, GSYNC.

The Alienware 17 at $2350 will ship with a 4K display (admittedly without GSYNC), 6820 HK, 980M

The GT72S at $3100 has a desktop 980 in it.

The GT80S at $3400 has 980M in SLI
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...4152983&cm_re=msi_GT80-_-34-152-983-_-Product
These products have been on the market for weeks now and ASUS still has not shipped a G752VY. How is ASUS possibly justifying shipping a product two months later than their competitors for HIGHER prices? They have had time to see and answer their competition and it seems like they're doing very poorly at formulating a response. Their $3500 obscenity costs more than both a machine with an entire extra graphics card in it and a machine that has a DESKTOP 980. The $2600 version only has the 6700 HQ.Last edited: Nov 13, 2015 -

You can get a lower model and get a reseller to kit it out for you.
-
I have a question about the g752. I noticed that asus website says it has TB3 but where it talk about transfer speed it says 20gb/s. Does anyone know what this is about? tb3 should be 40gb/s right.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Over two channels, it's 20 per channel IIRC.
-
Ohh i see .. thanks for the reply meaker. I ordered mine day before yesterday and got confused seeing this.
-
Can you please explain what you mean? or give some examples? Can I get the model with the 970m or 980 GPU without any drives so I can add my own drives if I wanted?
-
-
The cooling in that review is very impressive. When people are comparing to competitors that is something I think most are missing the point on. Yeah you can get an Alienware or MSI, and not be able to use it on your lap without burning your legs.
-
Is it just me or the comparisons in the review seem unfair. Whats the point of comparing gtx 970 model to gtx other 980 models.
