Did you try re-installing the drivers or updating them (note for now I think G-Sync cards need a modified INF, Nvidia should add them in the next release set).

The G752 is finally starting to surface in Europe. I have found a good deal on an ASUS G752VY from a german website which i am looking to buy.

The problem is that the notebook only has 8GB RAM, a 1TB HDD, a DVD-RW and no operating system installed.

Therefore i will be looking to:
    1. Add an additional 8GB RAM
    2. Add a 250/256GB M.2 SSD
    3. Change the DVD-RW drive for a Blu-Ray RW drive
    4. Buy Windows 10
I am a total n00b to changing PC components so I am at a loss as to what parts to buy that will be compatible with G752.

Can any of you experienced folk offer any advice? Where are the questions i have:
    1. What type of DDR4 RAM is compatible with the G752? Are there different connection types?
    2. What type of M.2 drive should i be looking for? Are there different connectors, physical size restrictions etc.?
    3. Will any internal slimline Blu-Ray RW optical drive work in the G752? Do all notebook optical drives have the same connection internally? Will i have to do anything on the software/BIOS side of things to get the Blu-Ray drive to work?
    4. Less important but how do you install windows 10 using the pre-installed DOS system that comes with the G752?
Thanks for any help in advance.

@Meaker yes i updated the driver and asus didnt know what is wrong as it should work out of the box. I bought frm excaliberpc and they had one open box at their end which was working fine so they said they ll just replace mine.

I got my ASUS G752V a few days ago. I quickly discovered a serious bug in the bios and needs to be corrected. The NVM3 M.2 Samsung drive is not accessible at all in Linux due to the fact that the controller is stuck in RAID mode. I try to change the option in the bios but the only available option is RAID. The option to switch it to ACHI is missing! At this point in time I am unable to make a full disk image backup with clonezilla, and I am also unable to install Linux to this drive at all.

I suggest you shoot an email request to Asus to ask them to expose the option in the next release.

Hey dude, I had the same issue trying to install windows 10 onto the Samsung Pro 950 256gig. I tried everything. I ended up putting it in the laptop's m.2 slot. Booting up off the stock 1tb 7200rpm drive that had windows on it. Then go to samsung's website and download their Migration software. Install that and make a clone of the stock hard drive to the NVMe drive and it works perfect. I'm using the NVMe ssd for my OS and now a 256gig ssd for games, will be replacing that one with a Samsung 1tb Evo or Pro .

But now on the 950 pro NVMe i'm getting insane speeds of 970mb/s Write and 2300mb/s Read. It's unreal how fast this G752 is once you're on a drive like that. Everything is instant. I'm loving it!!!!!!!!!

Oh yes it has!! This past year has made a huge jump in performance and most people have no idea yet. I'm a insane system builder and build some of the most ridiculous pc's you would see. My desktop has 6x 256gb ssd's in a Raid 0 LOLOL. So it's a 1.5tb drive that's trying to be 6x faster, BUT it can't because the DMI won't go over 1.6gb/s .. So my setup does 1.6gb/s Read and 1.3gb/s write. This 1 NVMe drive is faster on read, and close to faster on write. The 512gb NVMe drive is 1.2gb/s write and will be faster than the Raid 0 with 6 ssd's.

That's insane performance that a laptop can have now over a sick desktop build. For sure!! lol.

    Other specs of desktop
    Core i7 4790K @ 5ghz (1.350v)
    Gtx Titan X @ 1500mhz / 7750mhz (+112mv)
    32gb DDR3 2400mhz C11
    Corsair AX1200 psu
    1x 480mm Monsta Rad
    2x 360mm XT45 Rad's
10x EK Vardar F4-120 2200rpm fans on rads
Mobo, Cpu, Gpu all on water.
Custom painted Thermaltake Core X9 case

EDIT: Hell yeah!! I just broke 7400 in Firestrike with my Asus G752VT with 6700HQ/Gtx970m
    I just got 7406 with overclock of +135 core and +246 mem ( 1173mhz / 5500mhz )
    Link: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/9501571
Not bad for the spec's :)

We also have the full 4x PCI-E gen 3 DMI so as the PCI-E drives get faster the machine should be ok with them and be able to keep going faster.

Well, I've been very excited while waiting for the 752VY but to be honest some of that excitement went away now that it's out.

I can call myself a gamer but I don't HAVE to run all the latest games maxed out. That being said, I do want to get a machine with the 980 (it will be significant upgrade from my G75VX), but, on the other hand, I'm not bothered by the CPU and RAM choice. Skylake doesn't even seem to be that big of an upgrade over Haswell. For sure, in the future, it's not going to be any of these CPUs to push me for an upgrade.

Considering all of the above, and most importantly that now a 751JY is available for $1600 vs $2600 for the 752, is there a real reason for the extra $1000 just for a new shiny case and slightly improved performance in some areas?

Probably the answer is yes for someone who HAS to have the 'latest' tech but in my case, I'm pretty sure I answered myself. I won't notice any difference in the games and it will hold it's position for a good while even if I stick to the 751.

Maybe I didn't consider everything, I'm open to advice before making my decision.

A JY at $1600 is a smarter buy than a VY at $2600. Skylake and it's platform don't come close to justifying that price difference.

    this video confuses me.
Having watched your GS40/GS60 videos and the new G752 video, the asus gets a higher reading than the others?
I always thought that the ASUS G Series had the best / quietest cooling systems out there !
And how does the noise of the G752 compare to the G751 (in noise) ?
    @ sniffin :
In Germany, the G752VY (980M) is cheaper than the G751 with 980M (probably because it isnt at stock yet, you have to preorder the G752VY)

I've done this as well but I'll bet you're actually running the 10 year-old Microsoft drivers on the 950 Pro and the Samsung NVMe controller isn't showing up in Device Manager either. Also, Samsung Magician doesn't see the drive so you probably have no trim or garbage collection. Gentech and Xotic are the only ones I've seen who have gotten this to work properly to date and they're not talking (hey, it's business and completely understandable). If I'm wrong please post screenshots and step by step how you did it. BTW, imagine what it will be like when all of the above is working properly :).

Okay, there is a way to do a clean install of Windows 10 (or whatever) directly to the 950 Pro (no cloning required). Once the drive is setup and recognized I've never seen Windows install so fast. The cloning method worked okay but Windows always seemed a little flaky IMHO. It's sweet now though. Unfortunately, the Samsung drivers still won't install, the NVMe controller is still missing, and Magician doesn't work. We're making progress though.

Here's my experience and y question (posted in ROG forum):

    HI, i've received a brand new G752VT-T7005T a couple of days ago. During this two days i've found some little issues (dvd writer starts load randomly even if empty, usb ports sometimes refresh during copy and doing a new folder wherever i want shows up only after pressing F5) that convince me to do a fresh install (like every "G" received in the last 6 years);

Assuming that i'm running Windows on a Samsung m.2 SSD 128gb installed onto IRST controller LOCKED into RAID mode, thats what i've found:

    • Doing a fresh bootable media of Windows 10 update 1155 (UEFI mode) using a USB 3.0 drive (fully working) don't show up in boot selection, using a 2.0 it works.

    • To recognize the m.2 drive, you have to load onto your usb drive IRST drivers, used in the section of disks research; IRST provided from ASUS website crash (blue screen IRQL), but with THIS the setup will recognize SSD and will work fine.

    My questions:

    • there's a way to modify m.2 mode that's actually locked (grey selection) in RAID mode (i have to load RAID driver to install, no way to set in AHCI)?

    • if i buy a new Samsung to make a RAID 0, how i can enter into a RAID section to configure it?

    • searching on the net, all SSD same of mine that are on sell are named "AHCI", there's something wrong if i buy it to make my RAID?

    Thanks for replies.

The G752 won't do RAID - at least not with the current BIOS. At this point we can't even get one Samsung 950 Pro to work properly, let alone two. It can be done on a Skylake motherboard with the right BIOS though:

anyone aware of some realistic figures of the panel quality of the G752VY Panel? Notebookcheck.com seems to be glorifying the panel quality with average brightness center of 360cd/m2 and contrast levels reaching almost 1000:1, while other reviews like ultrabookreview.com are stating completely different figures with panel contrast levels reaching 650:1 for example

So the RAID model locked into BIOS is only to pair the device with IRST chipset?
I'm going to add a 256gb as primary, use the 128gb as "steam" disk and use the third HDD for data. Assuming this scenario i'll have to connect both ssd m.2 . How the BIOS will recognize to not use the RAID protocol?

EDIT: if someone has planned to do a fresh install, pay attention that splendyd utility and audio driver posted under driver section (ASUS site) are not the correct one for our notebook (maybe are still G751 version). ASUS loaded the wrong package, so the splendyd don't install correctly and the realtek don't install the Sonic Studio Suite. If someone still has the driver folder placed in C: can send me throug file transfer these two package? any help would be very apprecciated.

The G750 and G751 had RAID in the BIOS, I am actually surprised the G752 doesn't. It may be a temporary situation, early release and all.

I found an extracted and compiled (so called pure) version of the lates t Samsung NVMe Drivers and tried to use them during Windows installation but no love. I tried a few others too but Windows will only load the IRST drivers. Here's a link if anybody wants to give it a whirl (they're under section G at the bottom of the spoiler box):

There's difference between Samsung driver and IRST driver? i've loaded my system with the last one (from Intel site, ASUS one crashes in blue screen) and everything goes fine, except for the audio and splendid problem, but this is another chapter.

The IRST drivers are NOT the correct drivers but they are the only ones that will work so far. If you look at the driver for your 950 Pro under Disk drives you will see that it's using 10 year-old Microsoft drivers. And your Controller should look like this (from Samsung NVMe Contoller Driver Installer guide):

So I tried using a USB 2.0 drive (8gig) that I made into a Windows 10 64bit installer, and put the Samsung drivers on a Dvd disc, loaded the drivers when I came to the hard drive selecting screen, but still a NO GO. I can't get it to show up at all. I don't get why this has to be such a PITA lol. They made this laptop capable of having 2 NVMe drives, yet it can't even see them during an install. Such BS for real. They better come out with a bios update that fixes this, also fixes Raid mode isn't locked and the only setting you can use. They really need a new bios for these dame G752's.

Come on Asus, you are better than this. This isn't like your company to make this our problem. Shouldn't of added NVMe support unless it works right. I do want it for sure, but this is just ridiculous!!

Anyone else have any luck yet? I mean actually getting it to WORK the RIGHT way yet?

When you're on that screen uncheck the box that says "Only show drivers that are compatible with this computer's hardware" or something to that effect and they will show up (unless you're trying to use the regular .exe's downloaded from the Samsung site. That won't work. They need to be in a pure form). But it doesn't matter anyway because they still won't load.

Oh I know bud, I unzipped, extracted everything before putting it on the disc. Nothing shows up at all until I uncheck that box saying show drivers not compatible with whatever lol. I've tried everything I possibly could.

I was on the phone with Asus tech support last night and after a half hour, and the dumbass asking me for the 10th time, So you put a SSD in there and it wont show up? You put a 2.5" ssd in. Back to me, NO DUDE, I put a NVME ssd in the PCI-e slot, IT'S NOT A 2.5" SSD, WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?!?!?!? This guy shouldn't be working for Asus at all. Then 10 more min he comes back saying " well, we don't support upgrades like that, you have to look online for help for that " .. GEEZ man!! Why are you there just collecting a check? You don't even have pride in your work and aren't even trying to make your company better. You need a new job so you don't ruin Asus's reputation. I would fire you now if I was your boss.

I felt bad because of saying what I did, but he needed to hear it. He stayed on the phone and took it all and didn't get mad about it, he actually agreed with me in the end. I told him I don't work for Asus but I would spend hours to figure this out for them so their best Gaming Laptop of this year would work right. This is just getting ridiculous. We need a new bios version that makes this G752 work the way it's supposed to. I hope we will get one soon so we can enjoy our systems the way they are intended to be used.

Tried to install SAMSUNG nvme driver with no boot result (had already to clean install, so i've tried). rebooting with Windows 10 1155 UEFI USB stick and a couple of drivers including the Samsung one, i've found that only IRST were accepted. no way to see the m.2 with other drivers.

Just for future reference, unzipping and extracting the files from the .exe doesn't give you the actual drivers. They need to be compiled. Compare what's on the disk you made to these (which are in the correct format):

    PureNVMeDrivers.PNG

But the point is moot anyway because these won't work either. A new BIOS would be nice but I wouldn't hold my breath. I'm trying to get someome on another site who has a Xotic setup to post screenshots of his device manager. I'm curious if Xotic and Gentech have actually found a way to do this properly or if they're just using the IRST drivers like everybody else.

My disc shows them the same way you are showing me there, but just like you said, they don't work anyways LOL.

I just got a call back at 7:45pm EST from a Higher up Tech at Asus. He tried telling me that putting the drivers on a usb dongle and then loading them would work. I LMAO as he told me that, and then I said did you read the rest of the posts on that ROG forum that says it DOESN'T work? He said no. LOL.. I told him everything I know about this and everything we are trying even on this forum. He now understands this and he is passing all the info onto the Bios team at Asus with both the ROG forum and this thread on this forum so they can review and come up with a fix for the Samsung 950 Pro drive. They are going to keep me posted with any info that comes back from the bios team, and also I told them that I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to help in anyway I can to resolve this.

Hopefully this will get going on the right track now and we could end up with a beta bios to start, and then a real bios that will fix for everyone that has the G752xx-xxxx .. A little time and a little help from all of us and it will get fixed sooner than later, hopefully. After all, it is Asus and they aren't dell in anyway LMAO. Lets all hope they do a good job and figure this out as fast as possible and we are rocking with our 950 Pro's with correct drivers and whatnot.

Why don't you link any other threads that you know of that are trying to fix this as well here so it makes it easier for the bios team to gather the info they need to help them out. There is one forum on the ROG site that is trying as well. The more info they get, the better for us!!

Yeah, that's the thread I was talking about too. Wasn't sure if you knew a different one as well as that one. I will spend some time with Asus if possible to make this work for us. I have helped intel before with a issue on one of their mobo's in the past and they did a bios update for it. I was actually asked to put in a resume for a job, but that involved moving from Cleveland to Organ lol. I would go work for Asus Tech tho if I were involved in the engineering of things. That would be fun, as long as it paid very well because I'm getting just over 6 digits now :) ... Can't go back now lol.

I will report back with anything I hear from Asus. Hoping that tomorrow is Monday, I hear from the bios team on this and can give them everything I can to help the next version.

So far I know that we need Raid mode to not be locked and need to be able to choose ACHI mode as well. Also, needing to see the NVMe SSD's and use them properly.

If there is anything else that needs fixed that you can share, please do so and I will add that to the list so we get everything done in one release, HOPEFULLY lol.

    Thanks,
    Hambone

Give them a good talking to as all boot options at the very least should be unlocked.

    Will do!!

Has anyone tried the Samsung SM951 SSD?? That one is rated at 2150/1500 read/write on Newegg's site for the 256gig and 512gig model. I see Kitguru has done a review a while back and there's came with a Samsung NVMe SSD in it, but it's the SM951 which was out a lot sooner than the Pro 950. I'm wondering if that SSD has no issues and is what we should be trying to use and might have no issues at all and can boot to it, and run correct drivers.

The 256gig is only $177 USD on Neweggs site. That's less than I paid for my Pro 950. I still can return the 950 I got and put money in my pocket by ordering the SM951. I might order it up today next day air. I'd like to hear if anyone else has tried that one or not, or if someone that has the G752xx that came with it installed from Asus, if it's actually working correctly??

Let's try to find this out as well. Might save us all a LOT of headaches LOL.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a review with the Samsung 128gig SSD model from Asus that was reviewed, but look at the speeds of the SSD in this review. I copied it from the review below, but here is the link to the review as well. http://www.digitaltrends.com/laptop-reviews/asus-rog-g752vt-dh72-review/

" CrystalDiskMark, a hard drive benchmark, returned sequential read speeds of 559 megabytes per second and sequential write speeds of 156 megabytes per second from the system’s Samsung-built NVMe solid state drive. "

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALSO, Looking on Xotic Pc's site, there is nothing on there about using a Pro 950 as one of the options for the m.2 PCI-e SSD. They show an option of the SM951, and some others that don't say exactly, but nothing in writing that they use the Pro 950's. Just trying to point out what we do know. THIS IS WRONG BY ME, SORRY. Otot DOWN BELOW POINTED THIS OUT.

Deleted link that was to the G751's options

Here is the correct link to the G752's options. Note that the read/write speeds are incorrect, and also they show a 128gig model which isn't a Pro 950 because there isn't one. Link: http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-g752vtdh72-eta-nov-2015-p-8624.html?startcustomization=1

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking into the SM951 256gig model, I'm seeing 2 different ones. There's a model # starting with MZVP and also MZHP , the rest of the # is the same V256HDGL ..
    Link http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/products/flash-storage/client-ssd/

Now just so you are aware of, in this thermal comparison video they did of the SM951 vs the Pro 950, and everyone online worrying about this. You really can't compare what they did. If you watch the video and see the speeds that the 2 drives are writing at, the SM951 is hitting speeds of around 800mb/s and that should cause more heat than the Pro 950 only writing at 450mb/s ish. So this is a bad comparison IMHO. For normal use that we would be doing, there should be no thermal issues what so ever. When will any of us be transferring a 205gig file on a 256gig drive? LOL. The SM951 looks to be superior to me.

    Here's a link to the video :

If you select a G752 instead of a G751 you get the choice for a Samsung 950 Pro.

Ah, good catch bud. Thanks!! I was looking at the G752's but I must of missed that when I went into the customizing options. I do see that now.

Ok, so the Pro 950 is one of the selected drives they are offering. Well, we need someone that has ordered that model from Xotic PC to come on here and help us out and see that the drive is properly working in their G752. I almost bet that it's not working as it's supposed to be, or we wouldn't be having so much trouble trying to get it to work. Asus doesn't even know how to get that drive working properly from their Tech support, even escalated tech support couldn't give me any info on how to use the Pro 950. Sounds fishy that Xotic PC somehow know's more than Asus does LOL.

    Thanks again Otot!!

So if I were to order a SM951 256gig SSD, I'm not sure whether to buy the ACHI model, or the NVMe model. I know that the drives are NVMe, but use ACHI , but I'm now confused to what the difference is between those 2 different SKU's

As far as I know the SM951 doesn't work with Magician Software. You should take this into account. The 950 Pro works but not as it's supposed to be, this can be the same with the SM951.
Therefore I don't think that xotic and gentech are getting the 950 Pro work properly. But you are right, we need someone who owns a model from xotic or gentech and can clarify that.
I would stick to the 950 Pro and I'm sure in the future it will work properly. It's a Samsung SSD, one of the main reseller of SSDs. It have to work and it's a shame that it didn't.
Also I already bought the 950 Pro and 32GB of Samsung RAM in October and the G752VY is delivered now in January... yeah
Sorry for my english, I am from germany!
