Confirmed that map load times in Black Ops have been significantly reduced. Haven't seen much noticeable improvement otherwise, but I do have a few more games to test. Seem like good drivers so far.
-
Just loaded up BC2, better performance (eyeballing it I feel it's about a 15% increase in smoothness) in all areas.
Specifically, my framerate HAS doubled on Oasis Conquest overall. No longer dropping to 35 fps when looking down the city long-wise.
I'm running the game on all high, no AA or AF, with HBAO. -
Yep. Now I can run BC2 SP maxed at 30 stable, and on intense scenes, drops to 25 ish.
AMD = WIN
-
This i totally agree with
-
I have my G73HJ with stock drivers and stock vbios, have anybody tested these driver over this config?
I was wondering if this solve issues with BSOD, or any others.
Thank you! -
i don't know why this guy can't play the game on everything maxed but i can very smoothly (i've only forced vsync with D3Doverider)
what about you guys?

By the way... Shall we uninstall previous drivers first ?
or just install these driver over the current one?
Thanks! -
Yea same here mite jan. Always using 3d0 to force vsync and always turn it off in-game. AC: Brotherhood ran as smooth (if not smoother) than AC2. The game was very fluid. I actually beat it on day 2. Couldn't put it down. Also I was using 10.11 as I always have been for months now...
About to finally install and try preview 11.4 later on today.
-
Installed it. Too bad the only game I have to test it on is Battlefield 2, lulz. Works fine it seems, I'll probably buy Black Ops later to mess around.
-
I wouldn't buy Black Ops, it sucks. No 5.1 audio, stereo only, no footsteps to tell you enemies are coming. MW1&2 are much better. I'd wait for something else. I only paid $36 for it and I still feel ripped off.
-
I don't know if it's been posted, but here's a link for 11.4 RC2 Mobility:
[email protected] -
I already have the PS3 version. COD4 was better but I am completely bored of COD4, MW2 was way worse though. Worst online I've ever played, ever. The sound thing doesn't bother me since they purposely reduced the footsteps sound to lower sound abuse and 5.1 is near useless in BO anyway. I find the game entertaining, albeit plain.
-
Nothing changed with the display driver as far as RC2 is concerned, and only an update to the CCC.
As far as the version numbers indicate anyways. -
No sweat, just thought I'd give you a heads up. MW2 on the PS3 rocks IMHO, I've heard there are too many cheaters on PC though. I love positional audio and the lack of footsteps on BO cripples my game play.
-
PS3 version isn't exactly lacking in cheaters either. MW2 in general cripples my gameplay, too unbalanced at this point. I have a new found hatred for grenade launchers because of that game. So bad. I'm pretty much done with COD after BO though, I'm bored of the series.
-
That's where Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 comes in! More generic mil shooters!
I swear I have more fun with 6 people in Killing Floor dodging husks and crazed fleshpounds on HoE. Running around in a tight, defensive group on Farm is an experience itself. -
Funny/Strange, I play Black Ops(PC), using just my Klipsch Image S4's(decent earbuds), and have no trouble at all determining where foot steps or other sounds are coming from. I do have X-Fi installed, but all I have set are the options Speakers = Headphones, and Crystalizer @ 10%. In game I have "Loud" and "Headphones" selected as well. Dare I say, it is "directional" to me.
I play mostly the tactical crouch servers, so sound is essential. I have no issue there. Sorry you're not having the same experience as I am.
And there are footsteps, but they work differently than MW1/2. -
Don't lump my Battlefield as generic! Huge Battlefield fan here, it kicks the crap out of COD. Battlefield 3 is going to be epic, I will be playing that game all night on launch day. I just hope they go back to the formula of Battlefield 2 as opposed to BC2 with the damn perks/specs thing, love BC2 nonetheless but the Battlefield formula was perfectly fine. Dun need COD elements in my BF.
-
Oh don't get me wrong. I'm a just as big a Battlefield fan as you are. Probably bigger as I mod offline BF2 for singleplayer where you can play with bots on full-scale maps.
Something that will never, ever feature on the new FB2 engine.
-
Anybody have Photoshop? Freakin' Scrubby Zoom won't work for me anymore after the driver update. I have OpenGL enabled and all that, what the hell?
Edit: All the OpenGL features don't work after the driver update. WELL THEN, TIME TO REVERT BACK. :< -
Ditto'ed. MY SCRUBBY ZOOM IS GREYED OUT.
-
I have also noticed some performance improvements with these new drivers in BC2. I am running Fraps and I see a 10-15fps improvement with everything on high, which brings me into the 40-70 fps range.
-
mine too
looks like they are not so perfect
edit: hey and what about the RC2 ? -
lololol this seems to have ruined my CCCP too. I can't play any videos now without getting an error, wonderful. I tried everything and it doesn't work anymore, go AMD.
-
I get some graphic bugs in the windows 7 UI once in a while with those drivers, but I ctrl+alt+delete and it fixes it. With some old ati drivers before I had those bugs all over my screen and had to restart, so still I find this good lol.
-
MW was good, but moves way too fast. MW2 is full of cheaters. I can play with crappy iPod earphones and still hear enemy footsteps just fine. I paid the full $60 for it, haven't even opened SP, and feel the MP is completely worth it. Love the game. Just another opinion.
-
Don't forget these aren't official/whql drivers, and they're the first ones produced since the new amd dev team took over. Report the bugs to amd so that the whql version will fix it!
-
Both the preview 11.4, and the RC2 have Scrubby Zoom disabled/greyed out. Only option is to downgrade past that to 11.2WHQL. I can live without Scrubby Zoom, since the marked performance jump with 11.4>Scrubby.
I get a 3% jump in Vantage with a stock run at P8533 where all the previous drivers don't crack P8305. So you do see at least a 200pt jump in them synthetic benches.
I don't have any issues with videos. Zero. Everything runs normally. Every file format plays including MKVs. Excellent quality, and colour. Except ATI's MPEG2 Video Decoder is borked. But it has always been borked and goes all weird on my .ts files.
If you can describe/screenshot your issues, I can try to replicate it and see if it happens to me too.
Perhaps a clean re-install of CCCP + CodecTweakTool to fix broken codecs + Haali upgrade is in order?
Way to go Catalyst Creator! We don't miss you CatalystMaker.

On another note, if you're brave and savvy enough you could try this route. Which I'm about to once I get some food into my system.
http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=3926876&postcount=23 -
Yeah I tried everything and it was completely borked, even massive amounts of googling and fixes didn't work. Ended up just reinstalling the OS...again. Good thing I was too lazy to redownload all my games, sheesh. I seem to have terrible luck with the modded unofficial drivers, sticking to my 11.2 until the official release. On the bright side my Windows is snappier this go around.
-
Ha. After mucking around having a couple slices of toast and jam in me, I've got the gaming benefits of 11.4, while retaining my all my OpenGL capabilities in CS5.
This is what you do.
1) Wipe your 11.4 drivers. Standard uninstall, ATI Crap Cleaner, Driver Sweeper, what have you. I used all three. No complications.
2) Install the WHQL 11.2 drivers. Now navigate to your System32, and find atio6axx.dll. It should be 21.2MB in size. Copy that to a safe location.
3) Install your Preview11.4 or RC2 as per your usual routine. Removing 11.2 prior to that is up to your discretion.
4) Copy atio6axx.dll back into System32 when 11.4 completes installation.
5) Sit back and try to imitate my avatar.
Note OpenGL is .524 AMD U MAD?
-
Wait. OpenGL is broken with these? That can't be right. I was playing on Dolphin OpenGL yesterday just fine ... in class
The look on people's faces when I play wiigames in class still amazes me... Medschool is serious business XD
-
Seems to be a Photoshop only issue, I dunno though.
Oh god, well if I'm feeling adventurous I might try it since I already have 11.2 installed. I have an idea at what borked my codecs, I'm not really dying to use 11.4 though. -
-
I experienced a hard lock using 11.4 while running BC2, i went back to 11.2 for now
-
Finally got around to installing preview 11.4 last night. So far, real good. BC2 did gain an FPS boost and now feels almost 2x as smooth. AC: Brotherhood had no noticeable changes, which is good since it was already running smooth. Haven't tried it on any other games yet. I'll probably go buy Crysis 2 later today...but probably not. I was gonna try these on DA2 but I uninstalled it already. 2 playthroughs in a week is enough Dragon age for a long time...
Anyway, CCCP works fine for me. I dont use photoshop so I cant say anything about the zoom scrub thingy you guys are having issues with. oh and thanks mite jan.
Wow did you really have to reinstall the OS? Thats a pretty extreme/inconvenient solution..for me at least. -
hhh i was the same as KuroLionheart
actually even more worse if some program wasn't functioning like it should i would reinstal
but not now ... i would do everything to get it fixed and i am not even thinking to reinstall
hey i am glad you have those driver installed ... preview vs RC2 are probably the same just the openGL driver is different
well those 11.4 drivers are from some project that is working very well
expect official release in April -
Indeed, I'll only reinstall if nothing else works though. I literally tried everything, I reinstalled CCCP, I removed my drivers, I tried running various things to get it to work, I hit the forums and tried like 10 supposed fixes and nothing worked. I was like "WHY IS NONE OF THIS WORKING? WHAT DID YOU DO 11.4?!" and I just gave up and reinstalled after like an hour of trying to fix it.
Extremely annoying but at least it only took me like an hour to get back to my exact setup pre-reinstall, thank god for backing up stuff. Reinstall -> SP1 Iso -> Drivers -> Programs -> Done. Whoo, I suspect there's a video codec in the drivers that messed with it, I ran an express install so I didn't check though. -
If you don't install the Decoders the ATI drivers come with it shouldn't mess with CCCP. I'm not sure though since I use K-Lite as it is regularly updated with latest decoders and has a few useful VFW encoders.
-
the new preview runs better for me than the first version. oc is stable now. even in sc2..... hmmmm interesting
-
I just realized that my HDMI out doesn't work with these drivers. I might go back to 11.2.
-
Has anyone else started getting half a second (roughly) long black screens flashes directly after logging on to windows? Or was it there the whole time, before 11.4? I reverted back to 11.2, and the problem hasn't gone away. This also happens after exiting games made in game maker strangely enough. Any ideas of what this could be?
And also, has anyone noticed that the GPU clocks are raised back to 700 while surfing online using firefox 4.0, like it was a game? I beat the internet, the end boss was hard. -
for reals?
-
Yup these drivers are great for game performance but no HDMI for me.
-
I guess everyone missed my Driver page update with 8.84.2.
-
I'm sorry, I don't get what you are referring to...?
Edit: Oh, I see. RC2. -
Downloading RC2 for God Sake!!!!!!!!
BTW, I just want to thank you Chastity for all your effort in keep ours unit healthy
-
I still can not get rid of the screen flashing black directly after logging in. Anyone else have this problem?
-
Never happened to me with 11.4 (first release), just keep all your system update. My advice is go to Chastity's Drivers Page, download all of them and do a full-one-time update to last ones. Also, read the full thread for incompatibilities with modded X-Fi with last realtek drivers.
-
I've gone through all the updates actually, from the Keyboard/Trackpad fix, HDD Firmware update, 213 BIOS, Modded v93 vBIOS, all the Core drivers except the torboboost technology stuff, and the latest 11.4 RC as of now.
And I do not use the X-Fi stuff, I only use the Creative Audigy HD package with the Windows 7 compatibility patch. I will investigate further!
In Event Viewer I get a couple of warnings and one error at startup:
Warning: LMS Event ID: 1 (LMS Service cannot connect to Intel(R) MEI driver.)
Error: Application Popup Event ID: 1060 (\SystemRoot\SysWow64\drivers\tandpl.sys has been blocked from loading due to incompatibility with this system. Please contact your software vendor for a compatible version of the driver.)
I googled around a bit and found that tandpl.sys is often associated with DRM. Can this be removed safely?
And one other error I can't figure out(not that I can figure out any of them):
Error: DistributedCOM Event ID: 10010 (The server {E10F6C3A-F1AE-4ADC-AA9D-2FE65525666E} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.)
Has this anything to do with anything? -
These drivers are awesome for BC2. Left 4 Dead not so good. Lockup on the opening menu. Worth it for the performance boost in BC2 tho.
