    Msi kombustor?
I don't wanna say it but my 5850 before dead I was running furmark too
I got a blak screen and the note didn't boot
After a day I tried to turn on the and it turned on I got Bsod after windows loaded the drivers
And my asus 5870 died running furmark too after changed the thermal pads
So I think the video card are very sensitive with static and pressure so I will be very very careful with mine
Don't touch anything and only catch the card by the sides
Like I did in the first time I put my 5850
But it was very hot in memio so after te third time removing the heat sink my card had the black screen
    Lucky with your card Cuban!

so was Cuban the only one that is having issues with their 7970m so far, trying to keep a mental tally of success and issues were coming across. I'm pretty sure F9zSlavik is using the same vbios i hosted, but i guess it wouldn't hurt to check. I have posted the md5 sum for the one I posted. Please compare and see if they match. I originally received the one from sosa which was claimed working and then i pulled another one from the sager section; however, i noticed that the md5 sums matched so between those two there should be no problems.

    7970m Enduro Off
    md5 sum: C191AA570CB58556FC1DC145DCB8F6EC

Ok, so I reinstalled the card and was able to view via HDMI out. I hooked it to my TV and force reflashed to the 7970M.ROM. DOS said it was successful. I reboot and nothing. I was able to catch a glimpse of a artifact ridden blue screen before it locked up. While it was booting into the Flash drive I saw this:

So yes, my card is toast! I'm going to take it to the ranch and shoot the crap out of it!

send it to me, I want to mess with it more. it'll be awhile before i can do the 7970m mod because of other obligations. my main project right now is just getting my mini shoe-box gaming computer up and running (see sig).

so did the original vbios not work anymore?

lol, big waste of money doin that. better to submit to the community cause then to leave broken hearts :p

Have you tried putting stock rom back on? Seemed like it was working then? i'm wondering what brand of mxm you actually got, seems like to me you received a dell (these ones have been noted to have problems with g73jh in the past), some stated flashing clevo vbios to a dell will shut off fan support. not all cards are created equal

i wouldn't destroy the card unless i knew 100% the card was dead, even then a dead card may still be of value. the ebay store you bought it from doesn't state who's the manufacturer of the card. I would suggest shooting them an email and asking who actually makes the card. If you have lost the original vbios for the card, you may want to ask them to provide you with it. I'm just a poor techie, so destroying a card like that makes me want to smack my head against my desk lol.

I know it's dead. I used MSI Kombuster to stress it. It shut off, and since then it's been nothing but issues. When they tested my card it was in a P150 Clevo, so I know its a Clevo card.

I feel the same way. I'm not a poor techie, but $500 is still quite a bit of money. So to ease the pain, I'll shoot a few holes in it. That way it makes me feel better.

It was almost time for a new laptop anyway. I'll give this one to my little brother and get a Sager. At least with them it seems I can upgrade down the road without doing all sorts of craziness to get it to work!

Well you could request a RMA. Get a replacement or get your money back. SOunds like you got a bad card man. Honestly I would try either getting a replacement by the ebay guy or getting your money back.

F9Z: it's not a big deal. When I bought it he knew what it was for, so he won't return it. I'm also to honest of a person to do that to him. Que sera, sera.

What I would do, leave the stock vbios on it first. I'm wondering if the supplier is sending out dell mxm's and the clevo vbios is doing something adverse. But when you take the laptop apart and install the new card in the laptop, leave the laptop apart when booting it up and testing. This will be easier for testing so you don't have to go back and forth, taking the laptop apart and putting it back together again numerous times. It seemed like the stock vbios was working on the laptop on boot up. I'm hoping other user's that have successfully got the 7970m working will chime in and give more helpful input.

Ok. So I flashed the Dell VBIOS and it was the same, I flashed the Clevo BIOS and there was nothing, no sound from the fans, no display out the HDMI and no display on the screen. Is this a Dell 7970M?

I flashed back to the dell and got my HDMI out and then back to the 7970M.ROM, but it still the same. At least I have HDMI out! I'm waiting on HAX to send me the SOSA VBIOS so I can try.

I have no idea what is up with this card. I don't know if it will even work. If it doesn't I'll feel bad.

    Here is what I tried:

IT had the 7970M bios from Hax. No display out of the screen, but had HDMI
    Flashed Dell same as above
    Flashed Clevo NOTHING, at all
blind flashed Dell, back to the way it was.
Flashed 7970M and you see the picture above.

So I've decided to buy a Sager more than likely. I"m going to eat dinner then order it, More than likely the 9370.

Hey cuban, what kind of screen do you have? If you have a 1920x1080, I would like to buy it from you. I need to upgrade my screen. I am having a hard time finding the correct screen.

I still strongly believe you should get your money back. I mean, this is wrong, what they sold you was a bad card. I bought mine from a user here and it was taken out of a Clevo laptop.

Please let me know if we can work out a deal for you screen.

Hax is right. I'm giving it to my little brother.

Also spoke with the vedor on whether or not the card was a Dell. This was his response: "Clevo VBIOS for is systems with Enduro - but HM is non-Enduro machine, therefore standard Clevo Enduro VBIOS doesn't work; all MXM 3.0b cards follow the same mechanical and electrical specs, the only difference is F/W (Firmware). We are experts in this field with over 20 years of experience in modular VGA technology. So just use the VBIOS that works in your HM."

Guess who I won't be buying any sort computer parts from? :-D

Did the fan worked well with your card ( dell vbios)?
I think I wont change the vbios
If the card work why I need to change it?
Also with the bios from dell I will have hdmi out with sound , or not?
That seller said that he tested the card for more than one day so i will have a good video card
The big problem is with the moment when you will install it
The heat sink made by asus is .........
Guys give me good luck because I will need it!
And the problem with the screws
I have the bracket from my 5870 and dell 5850
The one from dell is a bit taller than he one from Asus
I hope I will be able to use the stock screws
Or cut the spring to make less pressure on my chip! LOL
I will put some aluminum tape on my heat sink
The place where the heat is transferred from the gpu to the fan
One more user with a g73jh beast mod will join the club
    I hope

With the card in its stock configuration everything seemed fine.
I wouldn't. See how it goes with the stock VBIOS
I just thought that it would be better to go with what everyone was using, that may have been the flaw.
    I didn't check
Yes it is a good card. But based on what you read in the 6970M thread there is definitely something that is causing the Dells to die prematurely (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
The threading is different. More than likely the screws wont work. I used 4-40 x3/4 which is standard threading for the US. I'm assuming you use metric. If thats the case you will need M3 x .05.

I hope it works out for you brother! If you need any help, and I can give you it, shoot me a PM. I may not be able to respond though. I'm in the US Coast Guard and may not be able to be by my phone or laptop for a while.

I read that the cards dell was dying
But this card is Clevo the best one for our laptop
Its came with dell vbios and other people flashed their Clevo cards with dell vbios to work hdmi out and they didn't have any problems and the fans were ok!
So I will upload the vbios and I will use it
I wont flash my card with another bios
    :)

Cuban Hello I am very sorry for your card ...
We're two colleagues overseas .... I am a soldier of the Italian Navy ...
Recently, I came home after about two months ... as a welcome gift, I have to move house :D hehehehe...

I recently purchased the 7970m and was not able to mount it because I was out ....

I also bought a card for Clevo models HM ...
    What has damaged your card?
The program because you have made Overclock?
Or have you flashed VBIOS who have used them all? ....
When you are presented precisely the problem?
You were wrong to place the heatsink?

I'm not exactly sure what damaged the card. It posted and worked without me having to do anything. I flashed the 7970M.ROM to it and it still worked fine. I didn't try any games. I ran furmark for about 2 minutes and got to 72C. Everything was still fine after that. I installed MSI Combuster and ran that for about 1 minute and the computer shut down. After that I began to have issues which eventually led to a dead card ( I believe). I didn't OC. Idle temp was bout 50C

I might try to see if I can revive the card if by_cleiton pulls his VBIOS off his card .

Cuban do me a favor don't give up on the graphics card been looking at ur pics of it. Do what I tell u now n Ull save ur card REMOVE ALL OF THE HEATSINKS AS I HAVE SEEN THAT UR HEATSINKS ARE HANGING OVER TO OTHER COMPONANTS AND THERMAL TAPE IS CONDUCTIVE. REMOVE THE HEATSINKS N THEN FLASH GPU AGAIN WITH NO HEATSINKS ON then driversweep the laptop that will remove windows error encodings that will be a pain to the new card as I think u have been shorting it out then reflash the card to inshore its flashed properly then boot into windows still without heatsinks on the VRMS and install drivers and test in a game

And to the bloke who set the 30mm blower fan on fire you do know it's a 5v fan and not a 12v fan like all desktop pc fans. Lmao that's why u set it on fire please don't do things like this without asking and Cuban shame you don't live near me as I'd do it for you but to post the laptop to me to sort it and post it back it would cost a bomb lol

I figured. What I'm going to do is wait until by_cleiton gives me his vbios. Then ill try it.

Is there any reason I can't just use this card on my new NP9370?

but you should try what robtherob suggested. thermal tape is crap anyways, get some quality thermal pads.

robtherob could you rehost your pictures you posted before, they've all expired.

I have some phobyia pads, but they don't stick the copper to the part. Those are the "go to" pads! I did get some Artic Silver thermal adhesive.

What I'll try is what robtherob when I get the VBIOS.

My card arrived in my country
But the card is going to my friend's house and he will give it to me on wednesday I think :)
Today I will cut the heat sink so I will spend my time doing all the things that I can do without the card.
The first thing that I will do when turn on is pull the vbios from the VGA and send it to Cuban ;)
Help a friend to join the club! He can't go to the dark side!! Stay with us Cuban!

I'm hoping it works out for you cuban.

For the record, thermal tape was good enough for me to get through games, just wasn't good enough for furmark.

Guys when ever I overclock my 7970m, screen moves/flickers for a second then goes back to normal. Any idea why?
