F9z. I'm hoping too. I guess we will see!

Either way I hope to have my new Sager soon. I wonder how much of an increase it will be when I have my stock 920XM running so high. I still like the idea of how easy it is to open and upgrade. If the single 7970M isn't enough I can always just buy another.

rbe won't work, it'll say invalid ati bios. right now the only hope is the vbios patcher on techinferno. this supposedly only works on dell vbios too. I've tried using it on our enduro-off vbios and it errors out. so as of right now, no voltage controls. i'm hoping someone gets rbe working on the 7970m in the future.

I've also tried it on the Clevo BIOS and it doesn't work.

Hopefully SLV7 can edit the patcher for it to work.

I also contacted Xotic PC and added a 128GB MSATA and the Killer Wifi dual with bluetooth!

    Hello guys ....
    also I'll update in a few weeks with my G73 7970M ....
These days I have to make the move from home ... : :) (
I also had myself as Cuban 7970M card with heatsink CLEVO ....
I'm going to change and adapt in our sink CLEVO G73 JH ... To be sure of a good cooling ..

The heatsink cools completely CLEVO not all chips, as you can see in this photo ...

have you double checked your cable connections to the screen? That's some wierd green action you got going on.

kinda looks like screen artifacting like it should be some video card issue.

I would hook up an external display to isolate the problem, if your not getting any issues on external you definitely have an issue with the screen. If you checked the screen's cables and they look good, chances you got a bad lcd.

if your in the market for a lcd i would get the AUO b173hw01 v5 they sell for around 100-150 on ebay though

    Thanks Hax
    I already have this
    I will buy the v4
I dont care with the reflections
    My card is working perfectly
    and the cables are ok
But if I put pressure on the screen , a lot of pressure,
Then the green pixels are gone
Have Anybody ever seen a problem like that?

dont buy a new screen yet, just check the connector if there are tiny particles of dust stuck in it...

as far as i can remember, i've already encountered the same thing (pressure associated artifacts) way back from the 9600gt desktop gpu days, with faulty-buggy dvi connectors

dust came into it.. i put pressure on my lcd, some of them are gone.. means that the screen is still ok...

cleaned the dvi slot and the monitor male connector...then its gone :)

if not, luck is not on your side mate! :)

    hope this can help :)

yea v4 does have more contrast but keep in mind this probably because it's glossy. the v5 is basically a v4 with hardcoating (matte finish for non-glare), this coating takes away from contrast. Glossy has nice colors i give it that but the reflections kill it. V5 is hands down the way to go, these are the same screens that dell puts in their mobile workstations m6600.

Hax Hello .... How are you?
I am waiting to upgrade the G73 with 7970, I'm waiting I get the thermal pads .....
I also purchased copper heatsinks ....
But really I would like to use the sink CLEVO change structurally and insert it into the G73 JH ....
I would like to change this groped with heatsink CLEVO, because as you know, use small copper heatsinks can damage the paper ....
    What do you think?

the structural design of the clevo heatsink is much different the heatpipes actually go in a different direction. so trying to install the clevo heatsink in the asus g73 would not be possible or would require some heavy modifications. the clevo heatsink is pretty nice cause the core heatsink has a bigger copper base then the asus g73jh's copper core and two dedicated copper pipes. the memory chips are linked to it's own dedicated copper pipe. In my opinion stick with the g73jh gpu heatsink make the necessary mods and still use the third party small copper heatsinks. Just be slow careful when you do this stuff and try not to use conductive thermal paste or pads. If you want more elaborate cooling, I would look into adding a third copper cooling pipe to the heatsink, other people have been able to do this.

Here's a picture of the 7970m with clevo heatsink for reference:

Just do what Cuban and I did, use machine screws, they provide stability, enough pressure, and is easier to do.

Hy guys!! Now I am with fear!! I don't know what is the problem with my g73 I want to use it I think he doesnt like me anymore! So here we go!
    First problem!
    My 5870 died
    Ok!
    I bought a dell 5850!
I put it and everything and it worked fine!
I already had the fan and I put it to test
    fine!
I play a little with my note and after I closed it with the fan inside my card died in furmark!

    Second problem!
My screen after I put the second 5850
Was starting have green pixels after five hours
Ok! I will buy a new screen
    BUT TODAY!
After playing crysis 2 I stared to surf on the Internet and my screen was black!
    With the fan inside
And I turn my note on but only black screen
I could listening to the notebook loading windows

    Thats it!
I cut my fan more to avoid touch the VGA
But guys what could I do?
I will have my 7970 tomorrow, maybe
I always do things slow and very carefully because I know what I need to do
    Don't touch anything
    Only by the edges
I always open my notebooks and cleaned it
    Change the thermal paste
    But with my last one
    G73jh
    Strange things started to happen

    Please
    If you can do
    Give me some advices
    I love mod my note
And I don't wanna give up!
I like to learn so I will do everything that the guys suggest to me!
    Thanks for reading my text!
I will pray to my God
Maybe He can help me when i will face my biggest challenge
    7970m!!!

when you hook your laptop to say a.. hdtv does it work? are still seeing the green pixels? may be possible that your LCD TN panel pixels are defective and only green layer is being lit. in this case, yes you would have to buy a new display. if it's all black now, when you look very closely to it do you see any sort of picture? like the blacklight is turned off.. or nothing? sounds like you just have a bad display.

hopefully next time you'll get one that last longer.

when your display & 7970m come in take your time don't be in a rush, rushing a project usually leaves imperfections and mistakes. make sure you have all the components you need before you install anything, just saves time. would be a good idea to make a checklist this way you wont miss anything like putting on certain chip heatsinks or screws.

    Hey guys!
I did a repast last year in my lap and I didn't change the thermal pad
After I changed it my 5870 died
I bough one from frozen CPU that was 7wk 1mm
Since this I always use this thermal pad
Maybe the thermal is killing the video cards?
I look at it and know that there is a good contact between the heat sink and the VRAM
I think I will use the thermal pads that come with my 7970
I thogh in every possibly for the problem with my died cards
    So can it happen?
    Thanks guys

    Edit
    @hax
    My second monitor isn't working
I overclocked the VRAM to 1200 and tested it in crysis 2 and was perfect
But after closed it I used the g73 a bit and when I put it in another place in my desk the screen was black!
I was listens to music and the music didn't stop but the screen was black!
I restart but the same black screen was on my second monitor (VGA) and my LCD with green pixels

As my train of thought goes I don't think u have a damaged LCD display I think u have damaged the screen cable you can buy a replacement they are cheap the cable is easily broke due to the fact the copper cables havnt got eney protection apart from tape ever side

Reason I think it's the cable is because of the screen going black when u move it I think u should take the cover of the back near the screen n wiggle the cable and see if u get everything also please check the cable in the monitor as it can be pulled out specially if u have already changed the screen and the cable has lost its stick so check both ends

I think isn't a problem with the cable because in my external monitor is no video too
So 3 cards had problems in my note o_O
I need to find the problem

Aren't you trying to overclock the cards? I know the 5870 in mine can only handle 1090 overclock on my video ram. Try it without the overclock.

I would also suggest not overclocking the 7970

    My 7970 I won't overclock it
    No way!!!!
I don't wanna to kill my card
I will do a VMod if I be able to change the voltages
    Today is the day guys!
At the afternoon I going to catch my 7970m

U do know that the monitor has 2 pins that have to be grounded to the motherboard they also act as an earthing point for the laptop and if u can remember some old monitors without good earthy gave green pixels ! And hdmi and VGA points don't work without being grounded

So like I said check the cable. U mite of even broken it in the hinge location I personally do not like the way the cable goes over the hinge

In the end the choice is your to make check it or don't its up to u. !! but if u do check it check the gold pins on the monitor and motherboard are not bent or broken as this would also cause this

that heatsink placement is looking crazy, you guys should only really use enough thermal padding to cover the base of the chips not the heatsink. i also see a chips not getting full coverage that it's suppose to. Here double check this (here's your 7970m model too):
