I'll gladly start a petition for you NOT to do this. Better to get some money out of it then destroy it.

I'm sorry if people don't understand. I was hoping that it would work and I could give it to my little brother, but no dice.

@cleiton, you just can run openhw monitor while playing bf3.... are you saying that you are encountering bottlenecks? so the gpu loads drops by how much then?

i thought the 720 could handle it, but i dont think a 920 or a 940xm could make such a big difference on gaming by just comparing the clockspeeds...

    generations of processors maybe

nice and you have the 940xm (qs), sounds like you need to give us some benchmarks, then we can compare it with cleiton's to see how much of a bottleneck his cpu is

    It temperatures are excellent ....
but the mod is really a great idea ....
the mod was developed with copper heatsinks, because the VRMs were too hot WP_000310.jpg WP_000311.jpg WP_000312.jpg WP_000313.jpg WP_000314.jpg WP_000315.jpg

this type of mod chip separates the VRM heat from the GPU and GDDR5 ... In this way the GPU remains cooler, because the VRM heat up very much .... not just apply small copper heatsinks, unless these are not ventilated by a fan ... WP_000316.jpg WP_000318.jpg

I just got my new fan, I am going to add adhesive to the rest of the parts on the video card. I was going to install the fan blower like you did but I just notice that there is a plastic insert (for a ribbon cab;e) between the wireless card and the video card. Did you remove that? If so, how?

I cut it a bit!
YOu need to cut your fan to fit
I did it several times because the fan was touching the card
And power was come from the gpu fan
Its a very loud fan but it work very great to cool all my Vram
I thought to do the same that PrinceBlack did but i haven't the machinery to cut it and this part of the clevo
heat sink need to be cool
So i did with coppers and i put all together using super glue LOL
All the blue coopers are toghether and the heat is share with all
And wiht my powerful fan i can cold it =D
I love my mod but is a bit ugly :p

Bf3 won't bottelneck the i7 720qm with the hd7970 bf3 is gpu intensive not CPU the drops in performance is driver issue trust me there are a though games that will botelneck that CPU but bf3 isn't 1 of them. Try starcraft 2. Crysis 1 crisis warhead run stone giant gpu benchmark and I'll post results tonight to on stone giant

No if you mount a 920XM or 940XM 720QM is the difference to a lot ....
my 940XM overclock achieved almost twice the computing power of the simple I7-720QM ...
    Benchmarck 3D Mark Vantage ...
    I7-720QM: 10600 POINTS
    I7-940XM: 13800 POINTS
    I7-940XM overclock: 17200 POINTS

Cleyton I wanted to ask you never touched the heatsinks of Blue Vrms?
as are the sinks when you're in the game?
    Are hot?
Or sinks are very hot? Untouchables?

thats one awful gpu usage u got there cleiton.. seems like enduro stuff? ;3

i know that you got an enduro disabled card but could there be a reason that it resurrected? lol

from my thoughts rob is right, bf3 is not that cpu intensive game, my g73 and even my desktop doesnt seem to force the cpu too much when playing bf3 even on large MP maps

its like its between a driver issue and a cpu bottleneck... lol

but i think ill be accepting the truth that 720qm bottlenecks at bf3 mp :)))

    heres the equation

more players in the map = more raw processing power needed by the cpu (even the game is not that cpu intensive) 64 player maps will STILL EAT 1st gens :))

the sad truth.. 940xm will get it done $_$

That's vantage CPU points they are not relevant when trying to show a bottelneck as benchmarks are coded to only use the gpu and very little CPU on gpu tasks and vice versa so u carnt see a big difference in performance n also have an i7 940xm at 3.6 and have tested at 3.9 bf3 runs fine at ultra settings on my friends e6600 @ 3ghz and that's a lot slower than a i7 720qm

    Steam ...
    ok =D
    @Vrms
When i touched it was hot but i could still touching it
The 3 ones that is next to the g73 heat sink are hotter than the ones that is next to the fan
But i can touch and feel that is hot, not untouchables
    And yours?

    ok good job Claiton ....
I think you do not need the foil under the G73 ....
when I started the various tests, once connected all copper heatsinks, I noticed that in the last game were really hot untouchable after a certain period of time ... I used a thermal imaging camera, and it marked me 64 ° C = 147.2 ° F ...
Now I made a change that subsequently oppurtuna posterior images, and now the copper heatsinks and aluminum are hot and you can keep your fingers on ....
all copper heatsinks have the same temperature

@rob , e6600 isnt slower to an i7 720qm clocked at stock speeds

remember, that 720qm is just faster to that 6600 in rendering times due to its 8 threads but not into a gaming scenario specially when you say that the e6600 is @ 3.0ghz

the bf3 just care more on higher clockspeeds than the number of cores of a procie :)

5.0ghz dual core is > 2.0ghz 100core processor :))) << just an emphatic example... from an old basis

im just saying this because i already saw my old q9550 clocked @ stock speed (2.83ghz) ate dust from an i3 2320 (2ndgen). The i3 got 10 more fps in a 64 player map setting over the old core 2 quad q9550 :)

considering the i3 is just a dual core with HT and q9550 is a full pledged quad :3

64 player maps will put loads of stress on the CPU u will need a 940xm overclocking it will make it eat bf3 alive 3ghz + speeds :) I also has this issue in some games I think it's some of the new features that the new gpu has put into it ! As I have got vsync on on darksiders 2 and the gpu only runs at 50% max and that's 60fps. Please record the fps on bf3 on a camera and YouTube it. Please post link HEAR I will tell u what's happening when I have watched it mite well be bottelnecked as I have better ddr3 memory than u I have 1866 speed but obviously it clocks down to 1333 but at cl6 instead of cl8 like the standard memory in the laptop is so I get more CPU bandwidth igot an extra 18% out of my 720qm on benchmarks 3 mark 06 think I got 3730 on the CPU think it gets 3100 normally

Passmark reports 720qm is faster than the e6600 and also 1 more thing BF3 runs better on a quad. And the game engine is made to use the ht cores out of the new CPUs to the full potential. They are used as go getters eg grab the info befor its needed hence the big fps jump from ur q9550 to the i3 dual

I think is my bf3, MP 64 players need more power than my 720qm
You can see in the picture that I sent
the CPU was loading at 50~55% Almost the time so it was using all the 4 cores
And when I over clock it the gpu utilization is higher than before
But I can play it like a charm
Everything ultra with 4aa 1080p resolution give to me 30~44 fps
    So it's very good

here is my mod finished ....
I created a duct of forced air sucked by the fan .....
the duct invests copper heatsinks cooling the Vrms ....
the mod works the temperature is low .... I created a fan effect on all copper heatsinks .....
I increased the thickness of the rubber mounts to get more air ....

    Great job prince black!!
    Like your mod
My force the air to pass through the coopers to cool it that cool the vrms
My temps are about 73~74 because my g73 is near the table
When I lift it my temps drop to 71~72 with the gpu on 99%
