play some games, load up your msi-afterburner OSD and see if it'll clock up during gameplay, may just be resting at 450/300 which is not a big deal if it's on the desktop. also, check your power4gear.

oh about the chips you missed, you have one on the bottom right next to the blue heatsink and two mini chips under the copper color heatsink

In fact, Hax is right .... There are 3 chips not cooled .....
However, I got the paper with the sink Clevo, and it does not cool the chips as pictured 7970 displacment pad ...... in the heat sink Clevo are not cooled the 4 chips near the copper sink, and the chip gray at the bottom right of the paper near the heatsink blue ...
I honestly do not know why ...
tomorrow should get the thermal pad

Clayton fantastic ... great job ...
For the four screws on the heat sink of the GPU ... what have you used?
those of the G73? or other?
why did you put the support screws on the contrary, the heat sink?

    @ PriceBlack
I used the screwns that came with our g73 and use the 5850 x bracket because the one tha came with the 7970 didnt fit
I solved my problems with the clocks using the vbios F9zSlavik
    And what is the chips?

who's vbios did you use? which one is on the dropbox?

could you rehost the vbios that you currently use in your 7970m (don't know which source you used, but looks like it works). other members may want to grab it. the one i hosted awhile ago isn't active anymore and I dumped all the vbios' i had (shouldn't of done that lol)

yup, just checked the vbios you posted for dell, i'm actually able to open it up with vbios patcher rc-1 and edit values so it must be the dell vbios that you originally put on dropbox. can you put the clevo one that your currently using on dropbox for us?

Glad to hear it :) also the clevo bios is running at a lower voltage eneyway

I carnt overclock my hd7970 at all ? Don't know why also I have to downclock my memory 1mhz to get the gpu to clock upto 850mhz

Eney ideas on this people ? Also the clevo bios is locked so carnt seem to get into it to mod it

One more question people how to you add ur rigs to this forum as I'd love to add mine lol

ps got me CPU ie i7 940xm stable at 3,965 GHz on all four cores at 94c but when I watercool the laptop I'll keep it there all the time

@robtherob not sure on the overclocking, vbios patcher on techinferno looks promising; however, haven't heard any updates on the clevo vbios support. Be nice if RBE worked on the 7xxx series.

the part about adding rigs to this forum, are you talking about the signatures? that's just in the UserCP.

    overclocking sounds pretty beast

Hi! I put a hdmi monitor and another vga monitor to test the eyefinity but i can setup only 2 monitors
So is it a problem with the drivers? thanks

As far as I know it's not possible, because eyefinity requires 3-monitors which g73jh only has the laptop screen & external hdmi screen. Hdmi signal cannot be split and no external usb monitor will work either. if you want eyefinity you have to get a different laptop :(

It worked with my g73 screen and other monitor, worked with the hdmi+g73 and the vga+g73, but the 2monitors+screen from g73 didnt work
The CCC identified the two others monitors and of course my g73 screen!
    Maybe its a driver issues
I am going to download the 12.11 beta 7 driver!

sager is easier to upgrade then the g73, so i would do test run with the 7970m card in the sager first just to make sure it's working properly. if it works alright in the sager (also flashed) then move it to the g73 and it should work fine, if it doesn't you got card that's no good (but if verified working in the sager, just sell it)

Could any of the 7970M users post their average FPS of modern games, e.g of Black Ops2 and which CPU they use? It would be interesting to see not only synthetic benchmark results.

But what about UniEngine!? You forgot UniEngine! ;p
I need to get a better LCD. I got a BSOD playing league of legends, which is NOT a very graphic intensive games. Going to double check my heatsinks and also start replacing the other thermal pads with adhesive thermal paste

ing amazing cleiton, ^_^ Keep up the great work. I may get the courage to do these as well soon. Can we start a bit of a debate here? i7-940 mx vs i7-3610QM vs i7-3630QM If it's really worth it for the 940 over spending the money on a new laptop I'll most certainly go for this upgrade.

I'll post some bench marks later as I've got 180 mile drive today

I have an i7 940xm at 3.6 for gaming at the mo not using it at 3.9 yet till I sort out a better and more permanent cooling lol

There will not be eney difference between them in gaming if there is it will be very little ps I think the 940xm at 3.6 mite end up in front ;)

Also in avp I'm getting 72 + fps on full details dx11
