I don't know if I would still try the upgrade. In most modern games the problem seems to be the cpu and not gpu load. I often have only 50-70% gpu load while playing, which means my CPU can't load it full.
Don't forget that the machine is already 5 years old.

The DELL won't for sure. The MSI from the looks of it has the same pcb components so again no.

Well the dell one (first) won't work properly. The second one is the clevo one and this is your best bet. Normally it has a sticker if i remember well saying if v1.2. But this one is used so they might removed the sticker. So ask first, and if this is the only option just buy it test it, and if it doesn't work send it back.

Thank you TnF for your soonest answer :). You very inspired me and I dissasembled my NB more than 5 times . Btw, If look on this your picture http://imgur.com/cAmzr4Z, I read numbers 109-C42957-00B behind AMD mark bottom of card. Hmmm, my first option has same numbers and symbols. P.S.: TnF Could you reup this bios file please: http://www53.zippyshare.com/v/36867216/file.html. Thanks a lot for your perfect guide friend :notworthy:.

P.S.2: My work: speedy CPU i7 940xm ;) & dead CLEVO ATI 6990m GPU  upgrade with MX-2 thermal paste, but without CPU lapping :D.

Isn't that pic from my thread where i installed a DELL card and didn't work as supposed to in the end? (stuck clocks) You need a CLEVO card, otherwise it won't work sadly. I couldn't even return mine back then so i re-sold it on ebay. Also the base screw you can desolder and re-solder with a very strong iron, but it is best to just screw another one instead because you can partially damage the mobo.
    Here i re-uploaded the file: http://www108.zippyshare.com/v/uQSymNa0/file.html
Hehe, have fun man, mine is still running strong (i don't have any better PC yet)

    Hi Everyone.

I am new to these forums and would like to ask a few questions.

I have a G73JH with 5870m..Looking to upgrade to 7970m (or better if possible). I read that hte best option is the Clevo 7970m v1.2.

    1. Can somone point me to a good how-to.
    2. Does anyone have the vbios needed to allow the Clevo 7970m to work in the G73JH.

    BritGuy
