BRILLIANT!!! I dare not overclock this video card, not unless I have good decent cooling. This would actually work. I'm buying the fan lol.

Question, How will you power the fan?

What will you use to mount the fan? Some sort of double sided tape?

I just ordered Artic Silver Thermal Adhesive. I plan on removing the thermal pads and replacing it with the thermal adhesive.

What did you think of my set up? What would you change?

Might be a good idea to order it from here.

The one you linked to is in NY, and right now NY is in pretty bad condition, they don't even have power ;,( I hope they recover soon.

    Your picture answered my question.

I don't know much on how power works on the motherboard, but isn't the mother pushing out 5v already to the CPU/GPU fan? Adding another 5v won't slow down the CPU/GPU fan since power is now also being drawn from another fan?

I like your idea I think its awesome and I will do this.

Yes! But this is a small fan and I don't think the gpu fan wont slow down so much and if it happens I will do the mod to put the fan at 100%

The pics was very poor quality so high pics! =D
And also I bought this small things

I already ordered my fan. Hopefully I will get the AS Thermal Adhesive and the fan before the end of the week.
I'll be honest, I was expecting a bigger audience in this thread lol.
I've also decided to ad copper heatsinks to other areas of the video card just to bring down the temps some more.

I mite do this mod lol but with push in connectors lol I had this idea I just couldn't find a blower fan small enuf so thanks also as of the connector that ur on about I really don't know what it is for ! Think it mite be a programming port of fault reporting port ? But I'm not shore. But the one in the bottem right side of the motherboard is for a Bluetooth module also I'm gonna start work on the CPU water block I know how I'm going to do it going to be hard tho as I'm going to have to mill it out with piller drill not going to be an easy task Lmao I'm going be be using 6mm pipe. Ps my pump works great 2.8l in a min Lmao it's messy looking at the min but now I know it works I will be cleaning it all up and give it a spray I used viton rubber seals so pump will take 100c and no chemicals will bother it

I can't wait to test my ideas
It Think this will work very well!

It's the black ICs that you are most worried about, so long as the inductors are not covered up they should be ok.

180w PSU will run the laptop but like I said. Earlier in this thread it isn't a Gd idea the power drop on the PSU will be quite high so not good for the power regulating circuitry on the mother board and the psus life will be shortened drastically

And my hd 7970m is 100% stable and plays king Arthur 2 role-playing wargame dx11 on full wack also I managed to get the 940xm at 3.924 GHz stable just with heatpipes carnt wait to watercool the beast n see what me can get then as its just high temps that's stopping me braking 4ghz

I downloaded the 12.11 drivers, 3dmark11 went up 4800+ point to 5200+ points. My desktop, which has a 6970 and a 9800gtx (for phsyx) scores 5300 points. Gaming wise, they are practically on par.
I'm going to order a new screen. 1920x1080

I plan on adding another copper heatsink in the middle of the two. Those chips do get quite warm. Might even draw some heat awake from their neighbors.

Still waiting on my thermal adhesive and fan blower.

My little fan blower just came in and also my adhesive thermal paste.

So is it or is it not a good idea to put a copper heatsink between the grey capacitors (the 4 ic chips)?

This fan is sooo tiny!!!! lol Not even sure what screws to use lol

Ran into a problem installing the fan. It's too big to mount it between the wireless and the video card. At best, I have to angle the air flow towards the vrm's.

Well... I plugged it in a desktop to see if it work and then it basically caught on fire. 0_o

Anyways I already finish adding the adhesive to the 4 major parts of the video card. Also added a copper heatsink in the middle, and I was right it drew heat away from every where else. I am running furmark and it is no longer blue screening. I may not even need the fan. All other heatsinks still have thermal pads.

No I'm waiting for fedex to deliver it. I'm going to see if it boots without blindflashing it. I have one of the cards that has enduro disabled so I'm going to see if it boots all by itself. If not, I have the USB drive with the autoexec.bat, the 7970 ROM and atiflash.exe.

I guess whatever settings that need to be set when I was having the issues with GSOD are still in place. I removed my optical disk secordairy hard drive and I will remove the primary hard drive and when I push esc it will be the only option I have. Then I'll type autoexec and cross my fingers.

Did you ever take a picture of your updated mosfit locations?

to make your usb bootable i would use this:

    93vBIOSa.rar

use the HP USB tool provided in that .rar archive and make your usb bootable with the windows 98 boot dos. then copy the autoexec.bat, atiflash, and rom to the root of the usb. boot off the usb and type in the autoexec

RGR. I'll make it again. I'm hoping that it will boot like we talked about with enduro disabled, but if not, i'll flash the crap out of it. I'm cutting up the extra gpu heasink I have now. I'll take plenty of pictures.
