hmmm..my multipliers are 10x, 9x,8x,7x and 6x...so i am using the highest three..i dont think i quite understood wat u said..
btw after changing the voltages its not showing in CPU-Z...
    wat am i dong wrong??

First, have your max multiplier at 10.5, which is your original.

Having the "X" next to the voltage means that it is locked but you can set the voltage through editing the .ini file. Use CPU-Z to confirm that the voltage has indeed changed.

Also, have your min multiplier voltage be at most your max multiplier voltage.

    Edit:

RMClock does not support half multipliers. Your CPU's max multiplier is 10.5 so RMClock would automatically underclock it down to 10. Use 10.5 in Crystal CPUID as you're max.

As for the voltage not being shown, are you sure that you have "multiplier management" checked in the function menu? Do you have "/CQ" as a command in task scheduler?

For the three multiplier settings, it would be recommended to have the max be 10.5, the min be your minimum multiplier (the min in RMClock), and the middle one be somewhere between those two.

i kept the max at 10.5x, mid as 10x and min as 9.5x,,,i changed it to 1.100v using the .ini file but it doesnt show on CPU-Z...CPU-Z still showz 1.113v which was the standard value..
and also after changing to 1.100v using the .ini file the (X) is still present..

Funny :p I guess you did the same error I did and some other guy

I think you forgot to do the step number 4 of the Tevas undervolting Tutorial.. :p :p :p

    Code:
    4) Go to the function menu and then click on multiplier management.
    And also from the tutorial:

    Code:
The voltages may be locked to a certain interval and you may not be able to overclock or undervolt past a point. There is a way to bypass this but I hold no responsibility for anything that may happen because of it.

    1) Navigate to the indicated file within your Crystal CPUID folder and open it with notepad. It should look like aobve.
    2) Observe the three settings called:

    CqMaxVID=##
    CqMidVID=##
    CqMinVID=##

These three are the saved settings for the voltage applied when you start multiplier management. I have personally underclocked to the lowest voltage that is unlocked, 1.113V which corresponds to 23 within this file. If I want to drop it down another step, I could simply replace all 3 values to 22, save the file, and the new voltage will be applied when you start Crystal CPUID. The same concept goes for increasing the voltage but you make the value bigger.

Note: I personally couldn't go lower than 1.113V which is the lowest voltage you can naturally go to on Crystal CPUID with the P7350. I've checked with CPU-Z that the voltages do change with the edit mentioned above but the P7350 may get inherently unstable at those voltages.

nah actually i did the step 4...but i forgot the "/CQ" as a command in task scheduler...but does it matter now since i am not restarting or anything...
plus the voltages still show the (X) even after editing the file...
on the RMC i reached 1.000v but there wasnt any option to go below...

Hmm....the (X) does still stay there when I tested it. If you have multiplier management checked, it should work....

Does CPUID work if you set the voltages to 1.000V or something higher?

    Edit:

That is really weird. It seems as if Crystal CPUID isn't working for you or something like that.... Okay, can you push up the voltages where it isn't locked (No X by the side) and see if that works in CPUID.

yea i tried tht out before...the limit on CPUID is 1.113v...which works and shows on the CPUZ as well..so does 1.125v etc...
but nothing lower than tht(1.100v and below which r marked by X) works...

while using the RMC the limit is 1.000v which also does not show on the CPU-Z but then on running the ortho test there is a diff of 5-6C..means its got undervolted..

Well the thing is, if CPU-Z doesn't show the voltage changes for 1.000v, the voltage might have not been changed. Just because the temperature dropped doesn't mean the voltage stuck.

Is there a noticeable difference in temperature from when the change in voltage is noticeable from RMClock via CPU-Z and when you set it to 1.000V in RMClock but there was no noticeable change in CPU-Z?

I will double check some things when I get home to make sure that my forced method does work. When I tried it a while ago, everything worked perfectly (except that a voltage that low made my CPU unstable) so I have a suspicion that your CPU might just be stubborn and its voltage may be unable to be forced any lower.

well tht may be true...but then on the CPUID it only goes till 1.113 while on the RMC it goes till 1.000v without any probs...there is someone else on the community who got the T6500 working till 0.9250V..
I have a feeling tht its a case with my processor specifically which was made carefully by intel to be stubborn and rigid.. :p

and abt the change in temp in RMC via CPU-Z...yea there is a small change...when its at 1.113v in CPU-Z(or 1.000v in RMC) it gives core temp of 48c at full load based on orthos...
when i change the RMC 10x multiplier to 1.100C the CPU-Z showz 1.21v and the temp rised to 52C..
but when i change the RMC 10x multiplier to 1.150v(default) and the CPU-Z shows 1.263v the temp is around 56C..

That makes me suspect that the culprit is your CPU itself which is causing all of these weird readings. It may be possible that CPUID is setting the voltage, but CPU-Z is unable to read it properly.

Also, if you have additional things to add, it is generally better to not double post and instead edit you're previous post given that no one has replied to you yet.

    oh..sorry abt the double posting..
but supposing as u say if CPUID is setting the voltage and CPUZ not reading it shudnt there be a temp difference under load..(as i see in the case of RMC)?

Dropping the voltage by a single step doesn't necessarily mean that there will be a decrease in temperatures. You may have to drop the voltage some more before you can see a change.

Anyways, 48C at full load is extremely good so you really shouldn't have to undervolt it even more.

yea ill try dropping the voltage a bit more...and chking for any changes..
the 48C is based on the Core Temp given on RMC...
on CPUID HW monitor it shows around 63-64C on full load..which i dont think is very impressive,.

Alright well, I seemed to have a problem, whenever I would put my computer in sleep and log on my volt would go to default, but I found a loop-hole basically. So what I did is I created a Command Prompt that would run the shortcut I made with the CrystalCPUID. Alright if you want to do it this way it won't show a tray icon like the original guide does, here's what you do.

You want to rename the shortcut you made with CrystalCPUID to something without a -->.<--(dot) in it. For instance mine is "CustomVoltage"

Then Right click the desktop, and select "text document" and in the text put
"start directory of shortcut" without the quotes
    exit
    for me it's
    start C:\Users\Owner\Documents\Overclock\CustomVoltage.lnk
    exit
MAKE SURE TO ADD ".lnk" to the end!!!!!!
    then save as a .cmd

Then go to "Administrative Tools", then select "Task Scheduler"
then make a new task and choose the command prompt.

log off and on, then check with cpu-z. Hope it helps.

If you're talking about the one I posted, it's been a day or so and it's staying at the voltage I have it at. Logged off, and restart a few times in that period and it's still going. Maybe TevashSzat will post it as an alt-alternative to undervolt :D

Just wanna to tell you guys that i managed to get 10669 points in 3DMark06 using Windows 7, and overclocked to 2.6Ghz =) Not sure really if im gonna keep that overclock all the time, not sure if its safe...

And, dunno why, CPU-Z ( Both 1.51 and 1.52 ) version was showing wrong voltages for the first two times running the SO ( Showing voltages like 0.995V, impossible )... But now its normal now...

Win7 only about 100 points over Win Vista... Both running a very clean install... No bloatwares.... same video drivers...

But Win7 looks like is running cooler, so i managed to get a little more overclock using it o_O With that, more than 200 points in 3dMark 06 =)

But playing TF2 i see no difference to be honest... =P

    Regarding the sleep issue:

Yeah, I see the issue now. The undervolt somehow stays for my lower multipliers, ie 6.0 but not for my max, 7.5 multiplier. Also, I think SetFSB may be getting overwritten as well, but I'm not too sure. Can someone confirm that?

The problem with this, I believe, is that sleep mode is mimicking the effects of shutdown to an extent so I just need to find a way to get the various programs to restart once you come out of sleep.

    @Bigtasu

Sorry, didn't check your way yet but hopefully, I can come up with something more simple since it seems kinda confusing to me.... Will post if I figure out anything useful

Hey I understand it was confusing, so I decided to make a simplier way to get around this and it DOESN'T have a Command Prompt to run and is VERY similar to the original Guide.

    Here's what I did..

I created a short cut with CRYSTAL CPUID.
I right clicked it, and went to properties and in the Target: window it showed something like this..
    C:\Users\Owner\Documents\Overclock\CrystalCPUID\CrystalCPUID.exe /F3 /V28 /P1 /E

So all I did was go to task scheduler, and when it said choose program I just pasted what was in the shortcuts window.

It asked if you want to add arguments say OK. You can delete the shortcut you made with CrystalCPUID if you want. Also this doesn't show a tray icon.. And IMO is a simpler way to get undervolting.

    Hope it helps!

Those commands are present if you use Intel Enhanced Speedstep control which basically is the same thing but you lock everything to one multiplier (hopefully your max)

If its 2 minutes, then the CPU is not stable and you would have to lower the OC

Basically, if Orthos stops within something like 15-20 minutes, then its not stable

I wanna make sure that I wil be installing the correct driver for my G51.

So should I install this?: http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/24003-forceware-185-85
What version of OS to choose if I have Vista 64 (Vistax64 or Vistax86)??

Or do I install this driver instead: http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/23940-v18585-windows-7vista-64bit-nvidia-notebook-oem/

Im asking because both of these are the recommended 185.85 but 1 file is ~60MB and the other is ~30MB (so which one is the correct one?)
    Thx in advance

They both are correct in the sense that they will work. However, the first link (Dox's) are optimized drivers, and will get every ounce of power out of the 260m.

Just follow exactly what I wrote on the first post.

Quick question, did you try to uninstall the drivers through the control panel or through device manager?

Apparently, that pops up when you're trying to do it through the device manager. If you don't check that box, you only uninstall the device but the device driver still stays there.

    Edit:

Added the PLL for G71s since a bunch of people have had trouble finding it. It is 9LPRS929AKLF

Hi guys, I just did the same OC as TevashSzat (7350 OC: 2.25 GHz undervolted to 1.113V | GTX 260M 1GB DDR3 576/925/1441 [Dox 185.85]) but didnt actually see any increase in game performance.
I tried with Crysis(all very high), COD4(all maxed out) and GTA IV(all on high), so I think Im gonna leave it without OC.
    Have I miss something?

Maybe I only OC the CPU during GTA cause I heard its a CPU demanding game

Are you sure that GPU-Z is showing your overclocked clocks?

Anyways, 3DMark06 should show a definite increase and Crysis should as well.

For less demanding games, there may not be a noticeable increase in performance even once overclocked because stock clocks may be more than enough to run the game smoothly. Going from 40fps at stock clocks to 55fps at overclocked ones will make absolutely no difference in your enjoyment of the game.

Anyways, I don't run my GPU overclocked with less demanding games like GTA IV or Fallout 3 or Mass Effect since stock clocks run them at max settings fine. I have it overclock for something like Crysis since that, for me, actually makes quite a big difference.

Yes Im sure GPU-Z is showing everything OK. I re-checked and play around 3 hours of Crysis all Very High, and I had almost the same fps as without OC, a litle bit higher maybe 2-4 fps. The GPU reach a temp of 92C but it was at 87-89C most of the time. I get the same temps without OC.
There is an increase, but not that much.
TevashSzat what are your fps with OC, mines iddle around 22 fps I think.

I haven't benchmarked it yet with FRAPS but its very playable for me. If GPU-Z shows the increased clocks, then its almsot certain that you've managed to overclock it.

There should be an increase in 3DMark06

I'm guessing since the G51VX-X1A uses the new motherboard I can't use that same string...

Ok, so I benchmark Crysis with and without the OC, and there is a big diference, just that I dindnt noticed it.
Im playing in the cave, where you are floating around everywhere...
In both cases the fps iddle A LOT!!

-Without OC, the fps while moving where around 23-26, sometimes getting for an instant as low as 14 but it wasnt noticeable. The max fps observed was like 36. Max GPU temp 94C, CPU 62C.

-With OC (CPU @2.25 undervolted to 1.113V, GPU 550/900/1400) fps while moving where around 28-32, getting as low as 18 and with a max of 45.
Max GPU temp 96C  CPU 63C.

I actually dindt notice the difference, it was playable for me in both cases. I guess that in a more active part of the game, bigger fighting parts, the differences may be more tangible.

Edit: Sorry for the first pic, its only to show the fps.

They have different motherboard revisions so not necessarily, they might only have very slight differences. I would try to BB version's PLL since it would most likely work.
