You could save yourself 80 or 90 bucks or whatever it was if you didn't, but I'd enjoy the blu-ray if I were to keep the lappy for a while which I will.

G53JW will DVDRW not Blu-Ray and it has been confirmed by Asus. -
so what's the word on the G53's dual HDDs? go or no go?

I'm anxious about the HDD bays, as well. I'm spoiled by my current SSD+HDD combo. If there is indeed only one bay, I migh start seriously considering the G73jw. On the other hand, if developers can get their ODD/SSD combo out fast enough, who knows.
-
I have seen a couple sites mention an included headset as one of the goodies. Could this be true?
-
You usually get a backpack and gaming mouse as a package.
-
So September release confirmed or will it be delayed to oct?
-
I'm not a hardcore gamer but am looking for a 1080p screen in a 15" laptop and I do not have much options - that is the problem.... -
This thread has all the specs and pictures:
Asus G53Jw-A1 with nVidia 460m Coming in September 2010 - Built To Order Forums Build Your Own PC or Notebook Help and Support -
am i wrong about this? but you cannot show it yet because it has not officially been launched? a direct link from nvidia shows you can buy a laptop with the geforce 480m right here, right now.
Notebook | Avid
original nvidia page is GeForce GTX 480M laptop on right.
or am i just misunderstanding? -
this laptop has the 460M not the 480M
-
not same family? figured they both would be available at same times?
-
nope, 460m has not been released
-
o, my bad. also the BTO link ya posted shows the pictures of the model with the 3d setup. wonder if thats worth the money or not
-
I don't think I'll get a g53 with 3d because of the loss of resolution. I want a FHD screen so if I want 3d when the time comes I will get the g73jw

Oh thank you sweet baby Jesus.
And Ken.
And the Asus engineers. -
So at what ghz will the CPU in G53 peak at in dual-core mode? I only need dual-core for what I'm doin.
-
Now it's only a matter of time before they unveil this G53 model.
Which would be around .. -
it weighs only 6.7 lbs??????? its highly unlikely.. and in the bottom of the page, it says nvidia 460m is 4x faster than 5870 on directX 11 graphics,,, how can we correlate this with the 3dMark scores ???
http://btoforums.com/showthread.php?t=2822 -
it says 4 frames faster not 4x faster...
-
In real world the 460m will probably be marginally slower than the mobility 5870, since the mob. 5870 is pretty much on par with the 480m.
-
Now that we know it comes with 2 HDD's the question is will it support RAID? -
-
something that I notice is the access to the system in the lower part it looks really cool and even u can put it on ur laps and won't cover the vents. can't wait to see some vids of it
personally i like the desing of the Touchpad, it looks better than the g73 but a little tiny -
I never found the answer
So you thinking of getting the G53? It seems that G73's are a PITA to get everything working as it should. -
-
-
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
GenTechPC, of course.
-
now I only need to wait for the G73JW specs. to select which...
-
i think its exactly the same as G53JW,, Only with a bigger screen
-
Since ken's stated that the 53 will come equipped with 1 HDD (but 2 bays), it's safe to assume that the 73 will come equipped with 2 HDD's. Probably won't be much difference spec-wise at the core though, maybe the 73 will have an extra usb port or something.
-
There were rumors about the GTX470m So G73 might get that but i find it hard to believe because the gap between GTX460m and GTX480m will not be that high to fill a card in between, unless the GTX470m will perforce similar to the GTX480m but without the heat and the 100WATT
Remember though it's a rumor only even though the website claim this info to be true
-
Looks more like an ad for nVidia. Tho if Asus offered a MXM swap to a working GTX460M (and appropriate BIOS) sure I'd go for it.
-
If you look at the pictures it seems GTX460 is on par with 5870 and GTX480 is a little faster.
But i again i really don't see the point of GTX470m if it really exist. -
can anyone please tell me the spec's for the g53?
-
scroll back in this thread and you'll find it
-
Only Clevo from mysn from now on. The laptop as well as the company were both great. -

i am sure youre right. once we review the notebook alot of things will be corrected , revised and added. actually i think it will be right around 8.8lbs. the g51 with 9 cell comes in at 8lbs. the copper in the g53 will be an extra added weight as well as the heavier plastic.
-
I must admit, I'm a bit jealous looking at the G53 pics and specs. Seems like it will be a solid laptop. I certainly hope the GTX 460m is not faster than the 5850 though!
As long as Asus puts in a good screen, then I think it will be a solid laptop. -

Damn this thread is exciting again.. all we need now is solid confirmed release date !
-
That would be a let down, seeing as how the G73 was praised for its excellent screen quality....
I still find 1080p resolution on a 15 inch screen too much, but it seems the majority prefers it over the 900p that i have. I definitely like their new design. I find it fits the G53 better than the G73, since it seems more tighter with the 15 inch version, and dual fans are definitely welcome!
Seeing as my M15x weighs close to 9 pounds I doubt the G53 will be any less than 7 pounds with that type of design. -
is the Widi technology an option ? or it's already within the original package?
