You could save yourself 80 or 90 bucks or whatever it was if you didn't, but I'd enjoy the blu-ray if I were to keep the lappy for a while which I will.

because NVIDIA Fermi launch is September so we have to removed it for now.

G53JW will DVDRW not Blu-Ray and it has been confirmed by Asus.

Ah, Xoticpc has removed theirs as well but I saw on their JW version the blu-ray as standard, whether that was a mistake or not I don't know but most of us are keep to know what the hecks going on with all these changes.

I'm anxious about the HDD bays, as well. I'm spoiled by my current SSD+HDD combo. If there is indeed only one bay, I migh start seriously considering the G73jw. On the other hand, if developers can get their ODD/SSD combo out fast enough, who knows.

The G51JX has X1, X3,X5 versions which have 1080p screens... These were available through amazon and newegg...

I'm not a hardcore gamer but am looking for a 1080p screen in a 15" laptop and I do not have much options - that is the problem....

am i wrong about this? but you cannot show it yet because it has not officially been launched? a direct link from nvidia shows you can buy a laptop with the geforce 480m right here, right now.
    Notebook | Avid

original nvidia page is GeForce GTX 480M laptop on right.

    or am i just misunderstanding?

I don't think I'll get a g53 with 3d because of the loss of resolution. I want a FHD screen so if I want 3d when the time comes I will get the g73jw

it weighs only 6.7 lbs??????? its highly unlikely.. and in the bottom of the page, it says nvidia 460m is 4x faster than 5870 on directX 11 graphics,,, how can we correlate this with the 3dMark scores ???

In real world the 460m will probably be marginally slower than the mobility 5870, since the mob. 5870 is pretty much on par with the 480m.

Im in the same position and they come with intel integrate GPU so Optimus will be perfect with i5.
something that I notice is the access to the system in the lower part it looks really cool and even u can put it on ur laps and won't cover the vents. can't wait to see some vids of it

personally i like the desing of the Touchpad, it looks better than the g73 but a little tiny

It comes with an Intel HM55 chipset that doesn't support Intel Rapid Storage. PM55 supports it. RAID must also be supported in BIOS.

Since ken's stated that the 53 will come equipped with 1 HDD (but 2 bays), it's safe to assume that the 73 will come equipped with 2 HDD's. Probably won't be much difference spec-wise at the core though, maybe the 73 will have an extra usb port or something.

There were rumors about the GTX470m So G73 might get that but i find it hard to believe because the gap between GTX460m and GTX480m will not be that high to fill a card in between, unless the GTX470m will perforce similar to the GTX480m but without the heat and the 100WATT

Remember though it's a rumor only even though the website claim this info to be true

Looks more like an ad for nVidia. Tho if Asus offered a MXM swap to a working GTX460M (and appropriate BIOS) sure I'd go for it.

Nvidia didn't reveal GTX460m/GTX470m yet, these info is from the website itself but i agree 100% the results seems like something nvidia would do, why do they start at 0.4 instead of 0.0? they just wanna show the performance different to be bigger than what it's actually is.

If you look at the pictures it seems GTX460 is on par with 5870 and GTX480 is a little faster.

But i again i really don't see the point of GTX470m if it really exist.

Only Clevo from mysn from now on. The laptop as well as the company were both great.

those are not pics of 3d setup. All nvidia powered notebooks are capable of 3d. you do not specifically need the lcd to support it or emitter. You only need glasses. You need hardware support if you want to see objects outside the screen.

read the detailed info. It says "test with maximum tessellation level set". I think it means nvidia is gaining in fields where amd follows. They also trail intel.

i am sure youre right. once we review the notebook alot of things will be corrected , revised and added. actually i think it will be right around 8.8lbs. the g51 with 9 cell comes in at 8lbs. the copper in the g53 will be an extra added weight as well as the heavier plastic.

I must admit, I'm a bit jealous looking at the G53 pics and specs. Seems like it will be a solid laptop. I certainly hope the GTX 460m is not faster than the 5850 though!

As long as Asus puts in a good screen, then I think it will be a solid laptop.

That would be a let down, seeing as how the G73 was praised for its excellent screen quality....

I still find 1080p resolution on a 15 inch screen too much, but it seems the majority prefers it over the 900p that i have. I definitely like their new design. I find it fits the G53 better than the G73, since it seems more tighter with the 15 inch version, and dual fans are definitely welcome!

Seeing as my M15x weighs close to 9 pounds I doubt the G53 will be any less than 7 pounds with that type of design.

end of september would be the date. Asus will keep the current models well into september and replacement will not be around until end of september at best. This is the first time they were able to keep a model (g51jx) going for 8 months without a refresh.
