oh, and I think the G53 now lacks a subwoofer....![]()

lacks?? poo
-
-
I really want some info on the g73jw.
-
-
I've have yet to see a laptop that gets rave reviews about it's speakers, I almost always use earbuds/headphones anyway.
-
-
They are excellent and comfortable for wearing long periods despite their size. -
I use
Headphones by Skullcandy
You can find good and fairly cheap buds and headphones -
thanks ikas and anexanhume. i been itching to buy something while i waiting on this laptop. headphones will work for now.
-
-
I use a gamecom headset. The only one that doesnt hurt my ears - the holes for ears a big enough so nothing is pressing on my ears and the sound is nice especially considering its a sub 100$ headset and you can hide the mic in the headset so it doesnt stick out all the time.
-
honestly i think this model isn't as good as the 17" talking about design. I prefer the big one bad look; the battery is the same size wich make it looks like JLO but who doesn't like it. if it have i5 and good battery life (4 hours) i will enjoy to have 1 long game season with her
-
Skullcandy Smokin Buds right here. Not the rubberized pair, those reverberate when you move the cable. Accidentally snapped my old rubberized pair too, was also the unique version of them you can't find anymore

On this site, there is an option to put an Intel 6200 in the G53, and it says the battery is an 8-cell 5600mAh.
On this site, there is an option to put in an Intel 6300 on the G51JX, and some googling reveals that the 9-cell battery is 7200mAh.
Does that mean the G53 will probably not have the same possible max wireless performance and have lower battery life? -

But I'll be pre-ordering soon, from Ken. Have to start finding buyers for my G51vx, too. I do have an interested relative who's going to go zombie on SC2 when he gets something with a good GPU.
And I use a Platronics Gamecon 377, if anyone cares. Sexy headphones. Double as earwarmers when my room's cold. -
i liked the triangle webcam and the oversized trackpad on the g73
the trackpad got smaller on the g53 and looks kinda weird.
i do like the way the hinges look on the g53 tho.
hopefully the g53 looks better in person. -
I just checked again on Gentech and it looks as though the configs have changed. There's only 1 500GB hard drive and no option for a second.
You would have to used the optical drive if you want another hd.... -
Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Ah, say it ain't so. One of the things I've liked about the prospective G53 specs were dual bays.
EDIT: Hmm. Ken informed me that it should have dual bays, but they're apparently only shipping with single drives for now. Or something.
EDIT2: Ken wants to confirm the dual-bay spec with Asus. Hold a day or two, people. -

SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
I can ask. I'm just giving him a break in between my incessant emails, haha.
-
-
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Uh... Ken emailed me again and says he's going to re-confirm with Asus tomorrow. So still keep your fingers crossed people.
My bad, Ken. -
I think I'll be the first to say that I'm not such a fan of that huge vent and battery section behind and below the screen, a few of the newer computers have them and I don't like them, looks-wise that is, they are probably due to the cooling system that the G73 also has which I've heard is quite an impressive feature so I've heard. I also will be adding an SSD later in the year so quite keen as to the response from Ken for now.

Man, dropping 1.5g'z is alot for a laptop. Can anyone confirm if the 460M will be as good as the desktop version? One more thing: Are these gonna be available in an i5 version?
-
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
But it'll still be damned powerful. -
Man, tough choice. -
Its going to run SC2 just fine and mostly maxed out so i would not even worry about that at all...
But yeah Forge is totally correct in that its not even remotely close to the desktop version but still a monster in its own right... -
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
It should work just fine. The G73jh can punt around SC2 just fine, and the two models should be pretty close in performance.

Well, shipping is free, if I remember right. And, also, GenTech has great service, so you'll have that assurance.
-
It will have watered down specs compared to the one you can get from GenTech but more than likely cost about $300-$400 cheaper.
I wouldn't but if you feel that spending $1500 is out of your budget it's a option.
This is all just a guess but I think you'll see the same GPU but with a i5 and lower res screen(1366x768). On the plus side you more than likely max out any game on it because of the lower res. -
how heavy is the g53 in kg ? i may consider this laptop and bring it around in sch . will it be inconvenient to carry around ? the g73 was too huge , this will be an ideal choice
the release date is in september ? -
I really really hope it has two hard drive bays. I have been shopping for a laptop for months and i have finally settled on this ( wanted the g73 but it has way to many problems from what i can read on these forums). Hopefully the G53 will be a more polished product.
-
Sorry if this has been answered before, but what is the WEIGHT of the G53?
-
should be technically near the weight of the G73JW. The G53 is basically a G73JW repackaged into a smaller frame.
-
-
except the BB model will there be any X versions for a lesser price??? like g51jx-X1,X2,X3,X5???
-
Looking at the G53 pics - I can see the screen has a lot of unused space on the sides and the casing could actually be something in the order of a 16" screen.... It may be because they couldn't squeeze in the dual fan cooling system in a size less than this....
BTW I too am waiting for the best buy model.... I want a FHD screen and i7 but with a lower RAM - 4 or 6 GB - could help reduce cost by $100 - $200.... I could use the extra amount for a WiFi card upgrade and extended warranty -
Spec page is up. Weight is 7.5 lbs. 1 HDD + OD option on customize page, but spec page says 2 HDD + 1 OD. Ambiguous 4 series GPU.
ASUS G53JW-A1 - XOTIC PC - ROG Gaming Laptop -
only a smaller screen (less liquid crystal, less film), and some less plastic body. shouldn't be that significant of a weight difference.
-
I wish that they had 2x4gb standard ram instead of 4x2gb. would make it easier to expand in the future
-
That would also increase the price by like 200 dollars
-
I personally would like more a 1600x900 over 1920x1080 on 15'' frame, but its not a big deal either way. But i doubt even that resolution will be available at bestbuy on the 15'', my guess is they gonna follow the same trend with 720p res with 1366x768 res.
You have a better chance checking newegg/amazon for X3 version, the G51VX-X3 from newegg had very similar specs than bestbuy just with 1080p screen, so was the G51JX-X3 from amazon, with 1080p screen. But im not sure if either will get it or even if asus plans on doing this versions again, this were exclusive models of these retailers, no one else had them. -
talked with an XoticPC rep right now. he doubts that the G53 will have dual HDDs, but didn't mention any official spec release or anything else that completely confirms it. so we still got a shot!
-
g50vt has 1366x768 on best buy version. 1366x768 sucks on alot of stuff.
-
Gentech has taken the G53 off their page completely, "Product Not Found:
The product you are looking for does not exist or has been removed"
And also Xoticpc's version of the G53 came with the blu-ray drive as standard so there's a bit of mixed confusion with the laptop. -
aside from movies on bluray, is there any reason for me to get a bluray on the g53 instead of just the dvd combo, and save a few bucks? i never buy any dvds on bluray.
Asus G53, the smaller version of the G73jh
