I've only read the last page so excuse me if it's been posted already...
German site ComputerBase.de got this screenshot of a G53 with a GF106-ES listed in the device manager.

Awesome news, great find. Fermi, dual HDD, quiet and effective cooling system, I think I'm sold.

But will it run Crysis???
-
Have no clue what a GF106-ES is.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -
The GF106 should be somewhere between the 240 cores/768Mb GDDR5/192bit bus of the GF104 and the 96 cores/1Gb DDR3/128bit bus of the GF108.
-
Its GTX 460 if i'm not mistaken.
-
That would be sweet!
460GTX is rated at 65W/75W if I'm not mistaken . -
Or GTX460M and the GTX470M could use the GF104 GPU. -

nVidia's naming schemes have yet again confused the poop out of me.
-
great one!!
now when i can start order it?? -
Oh god. Now I want one of these. And because it's Asus, I know that Xotic will prolly carry it = no tax for me in Cali! Woohoo
-
Different CPU though~ -
The scores are highly lopsided with the clevo having a desktop CPU, the most powerful available yet.
The GPU in score in VANTAGE at least tells us the 480M GTX is about 10% to 15% more powerful than the 5870. -
Yep 10-15% on gpu. however i'm a bit concerned about the DX11 vs DX10. 50% is quite a bit.
On the side note, it seems desktop cpu completely raped mobile cpu. -
i think this kind of unfair since the 480M on the clevo has 2GB of GDDR5 memory
-
Why not?
They might not be exactly the same but they currently are each companies most powerful GPU.
I think I'm going to stard pestering KEN from GenTechPC and see what he can tell us on availability and specs.
I'm surprised no one started a G53reorder thread...lol
-
20% more GPU power... it might be jst enough to make me regret my recent G73 purchase but probably not enough to make me change it
-
If you already have a 5870 there's no reason to upgrade.
-
-
More than likely the G53 will have a lower class FERMI( 460M GTX???) I don't think we will see a 480M GTX in this laptop, it would be nice but highly unlikely . -
The G53 will not carry a GTX480. -
-
I'm 100% sure they will
-
Would be great if any retailer could estimate a month at least.... but my guess is the G53 with 460m will take a long time to be out, probaly sept or october... maybe we see an early version with 350m... even nvidia dont want to make public their specs for the 460/470... so might be even longer. But it should be at least before years end, else ATI get the 6XXX.
-
gts 460m or gtx 460m any news on full nvidia 400 series
i think
g410m - 48sp
gt420m/gt425m/ o5 g420m/g425m - 96 sp
gt430m - 128sp
gts450m - 192 sp
gts 460m/gtx 460m - 240sp/256sp
gtx470m/gtx480m- - 320sp/352 sp
i am really hoping for a gts 450m/gts460m/gtx 460m laptop -
So now wut? we just w8?
-
Hm, looks quite appealling. How would the portability of the G53 be compared to the G73? The difference in weight should not be a whole lot, right?
-
Maybe a pound or two at the very most.
I've contacted a laptop reseller and they told me end of AUGUST will be able pre-order but that was a estimate. -
Which laptop is that from? Some business line (Win Enterprise)? -
I'm thinking that's a 460M, fits the description I read here:
Computex 2010: The first mention about GeForce GTX 460M (1,5 GB)? » IT - Chuiko | Technology News, IT News -
Yup looks like that may be the GTX 460M that's supposed to be in the Lambo VX7. Means the GF106-es in the G53 is a lower model card like a GTS 450.
I'll guess 144 cores and 128bit bus. -
Ugh so that means we'll have to get the Lambo VX7 for ASUS' best gaming 15 inch laptop?
-
When was it confirmed that the G53 is getting the g106? Also, this seems to be the gpu it is getting (N11E, E for enthusiast). I doubt the 450 would be enthusiast. With a healthy OC, this should beat the 285 (shouldn't it?, 50% more cores).
-
Is that image big enough?
-
I don't know, a 192 shader core part could be a g106. G104 is rumored to be in the 2XX shader cores. I wish that was the part we got though.
-
-
So after all the speculation...
Is the G53 GPU going to be >than or <than that of the GX640's Mobility 5850? -

The news is getting worse and worse.

The VX7 will not be cheap that's for sure.
I'll wait and see what the final specs are a on G53 before I pass final judgement.
You guys like the way the VX7 looks? -
VX7 looks like a G53 with a different paint job. Would be a great notebook depending on how much is the price premium for the lambo badge.
-
Not sure why that vx7 is glossy. The inspiration reventon is made of carbon fiber. It should be matted than anything else.
-
The more I see it the more it sort of grows on me, but it is a little over the top. It's glossy screen and lid are not a good thing on this laptop.
One other thing I noticed is that it has a lot more cooling vents than the G53 but not sure if it's just for looks to match the car or are actual functioning vents.
Maybe to help cooling?
The fake rear tail lights look really cheesy.I hope to god they don't light up everytime you press the space bar or someting
I beleive a earlier model also made a revving engine noise every time you booted up your laptop too.
"Yeah look at me,my laptop is so cool it can do doughnuts on my desk" lol -
-
So what do we know so far, with regard to specs for this machine?
-
48 more than GF108's 96 and 48 less than N11E-GS's 192...which is 48 less than the 240 cores I expect GTX 470M/N11E-GT to have.
I'm also guessing there will be a cut-in-half version of the GF108 with 48 total cores for the low end.
Asus G53, the smaller version of the G73jh
