INC = Incoming Video game terminlogy![]()
Are you going to bring 3-D kit to school, btw? I bet people would line up to try the glasses with a blu ray.
You know, you could charge them all a "usage fee"haha
@arjcba
WOW! 60%?!?! That's insane. Next time I see someone QQ'ing about Canada's 14%, I'll bring up Brazil![]()
-
Hahaha yeah I thought INC meant that...
Yeah I def will bring it to class (I need it) but I'll also bring the 3d glasses!! I got a guy with a G51, a guy with an XPS 17, and a guy with an Mx15... so time to take out the big guns.
If it comes Thurs morning (usually all my stuff comes 8am, which is awesome) I'll do a quick unboxing with BOTH HANDS.... I don't understand why most reviews online don't spring for a tripod so they can use BOTH HANDS when opening the things and we dont have to see things ULTRA CLOSE when they need the camera hand...
I hope my 2nd pair comes same time so I can show you the 3d performance without you or me getting sick looking at the screen.
Even if you ship it as "gift" and have it gift wrapped?
Also it's "HIGHER than any other place in the world" -
Yea that vinyl shipped today, it should be here in 2 business days. Invisible shields are used to protect helicopter blades from abrasion and they use it for phones, so i don't think it affects it in a bad way, just makes it all that much better. I'll do a scratch test when i get it! lol Apparently my language on these posts are inappropriate so for now on i'll be using bigger words for the heck of it.
-
Well, but Zagg created a thinner/lighter version specifically for the phones and computers... We are buying the one FOR the helicopters (or cars)... So it's more commercial grade, for better or worse... We shall find out soon enough.
-
The 3D Glasses work just like sun glasses.
-
Stylin'!
-
Im thinking of getting the Asus G73JW
cant seem to wait till Dec to get the G53 laptop
am I making the wrong choice
-
Lol... but I won't use them as sunglasses ken.
-
Yea a couple days ago i was thinking about getting the g73 too but the size of it just isn't for me. Even though it's an inch on each side, that's still a pretty big difference when it comes to portability. I don't mind the plastic lid, and hotter temps. PLUS if you order you might have a chance to be in the second batch =D
-
Agreed. Order the G53JW now, and if you're not in the second batch by next week, order switch to the G73JW
-
I don't think there is a bad choice with either, both are great laptops, i personally favor the bigger screen of the G73 specially for 1080p screen, maybe if it was 1600x900 i would probably gone with the G53, this is very personal preference though.
-
Who would you think would have it ?
& I do want the 2nd HD so i hope i wont be left out
cos they dont have the brackets yet
-
I'm getting mine from Gentech cause my friend recommended , but i'm pretty sure the other sellers are nice too.
-
Thanks
will see -
thanks Voodooi
-
I got mine from xoticPC, because my brother recommended. XoticPC has great customer service and communication.
Gentech has also had an awesome presence on the forums, and powernotebooks has a high rating. They all have a high rating, actually.
-
Was looking at this: Amazon.com: ASUS G53JW-A1 Republic of Gamers 15.6-Inch Gaming Laptop - Black: Computer & Accessories ...
According to the description, it has the 2 year global warranty. Only thing missing is the 8gb ram option. Amazon has been really fishy, so don't preorder from them. Just wait till it becomes readily available and buy like normal if you still feel good about Amazon. -
in the end... its going to be the same laptop. So find your preference.
Gentech Pc gave me great service and constant communication (by phone with Ken!) I have no complaints about them, especially when he shipped it and he hasn't received my check yet. -
Mmm... is it worth it to buy a secondary hard drive JUST FOR THE HDD bracket?
-
Have you received your toy yet? Can't wait for the reviews
-
Heck... the HDD bracket alone costs 30 - 50$ you would be crazy not to get another hard drive considering they cost as much as the hard drive themselves...
No sirree...
Ken just gave me the tracking number for it today. I will be receiving it Thursday
and I'll be as thorough as possible with my review.
I got a few things to make it a great review.
- 720p samsung camera with 5x optical zoom (12mp)
- Sony bluetooth headset, so the sound will be recorded from a source closer to me.
- Targus tripod (I think I'm a targus fan...)
- Spot lights directly aimed from the top
- A G50 laptop for size comparison.
- A second pair of 3d glasses that will be on the camera when playing 3d games/movies.
I'll do an unboxing... seems no one has done it yet.
I'll do basic benchmarking for a few games, I'll also do them in 3D when available (any requests?) (I got many many games so pick your poison)
I'll be happy to actually review what you guys want, rather than to have to keep asking questions... so prepare them from now! -
A second HD is only 35$ for 320GB ...dirt cheap too (at least from Ken's customization page)
Yeah, Youtube needs an unboxing video lol
I'll be doing a benchmark soon too as I should have everything downloaded and installed by Tues or Wed ^_^ -
Expert Store in Kungens Kurva outside of Stockholm have that price. I wrote that they still try to sell it at that price, not that it was the normal price in all stores.
Edit: 26990 SEK = $3855 USD (at exchange rate $1 USD=7 SEK) -
Highway robbery! Did you see my calculation? Shopping US would save you 1513.75$ USD. That's with 25% of taxes and shipping included.
Edit: I forgot to deduct -3% if you pay by E-Cheque or Wire Transfer. It's actually a 1579.37$ USD savings.
@Metallic:
Is Fraps the best way to judge how many FPS is in a game? I was gonna download it but keep it off recording just so I could have the frame counts.
Happy to report 108 FPS on Ultra (v-sync off/shadows:med.) in WoW so far doing Battlegrounds. -
260.99 beta driver is now available for download
:
http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windo...ok_winvista_win7_64bit_international_whql.exe -
Ok.... ordered the beast, hope it gets cleared quickly and reach my home in 1 single piece.
-
Thanks, Ken!
@myHostie:
Grats! You won't be let down at all
-
Yep, even as a gift, because it cost more than U$500.
I could declare it cost U$500 or lower and try to get it tax free as a gift but the laptop size and weight would get me busted.
thanks for the correction, it's been a while since last time i wrote in english. good to know people can still understand me
-
Hey
are the drivers easy to install or
a real pain like Ati
which ever reseller you buy it from
do they help you install the drivers ? -
Yeah Fraps is the best there is, but don't use it to record... it will kill the performance of the game. You gata use an external camera.
-
finally a canadian reseller got there shipment in, i broke down and decided to follow the g53 bandwagon, i was going to get a g73, picking up my g53 tonight. Whoop.
they actually have quiet a few g53s, so they tell me on the phone, for the canadians interested, they dont take pre orders, so its basically first come first serve -
That is like the worst example ever. Expert is the most expensive store in Sweden and Norway if you ask me
Komplett.se sells the G73 for 15000 SEK ($2150).
Inwarehouse.se sells the G73 for 15000 SEK ($2150)
Multitech.se sells the G73 for 18000 SEK ($2570)
Datagrottan.se sells the G73 for 14385 SEK ($2055)
All of these versions are like the one Xotic and Gentech sell with I7 and HD 5870. You can get G73 with I5 and such for around 12000 SEK ($1700).

So like i said with all the benefits you get from buying from a local store in Sweden and all the other things mentioned in this thread, it is not a bad choice to buy from your own country.
Although i personally will buy my Sandy Bridge laptop from US because no shop here apply cooling paste if you want that or install SSD for you. But from a price perspective it is not recommended to buy from the US because of the tax and duties.
EDIT: Have not seen the G73JW in Sweden though...
Holy lama.
Looks like your goverment is trying to force the people to only buy from Brazil. 60% is a bit extreme yes
Do they sell G73 or G53 in Brazil? -
Drivers are very easy to install:
1: Go to Control Panel> > Program and Features> uninstall nVidia driver.
2 : Reboot.
3: Install new driver.
4: Reboot. -
latest nvidia drivers are even easier.
Start installer, and select Custom. You'll find an option to do a clean install. Check it and your options, and then sit back, because you are done.
-
I dunno, but I saw a post saying that the G53 screen is the MSI Gx660R screen, which is absolutely horrible. Is this true?!?!?? :/
-
I'm going to have to disagree. The G53JW is x2 more bright than the MSI GX740 (brightness comparison) and the G53JW's 1080 screen is absolutely stunning. Everything is in great detail and very roomy.
(However, I'm not sure if the GX660R/G53JW are the same, but if it's "horible" I highly doubt they're the same
.)
Yeah the drivers were very easy (the one Ken linked me). It took 2 minutes. -
Just wondering if the GTX460m on the G53JW is different than the G73JW, since it seems that G73 cant install that easy, or maybe its the international drivers that can be installed like this?
-
I had installation issues at (.89 I think), but the one Ken linked me (.99) worked flawlessly. Perhaps international is the way to go? lol
Made a quick bag review request by Dookie (nothing special) if anyone cares what the bag is like: (don't mind the 2 second video lag)
width='425' height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/RUyAehAMfKA?fs=1&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RUyAehAMfKA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='425' height="344"></embed></object>Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
Okay that's great! I checked out the 3D one review and the screen was meh at best, but it's good to hear that the 1080P screen isn't lagging behind.
-
You are right, the GTX460M on G73JW and G53JW are different, I couldn't install the beta 260.63 on G53JW but it installed fine on G73JW.
Haven't try 263.89 on G73JW yet but someone comment on my youtube video saying 263.89 and 263.99 will not work on G73JW. -
how snugly does the g53 fit into that bag pack?
-
THanks ken for the reply, i just hope the G73JW GTX460m get some support from nvidia and not have to hack the drivers
. Buts interesting that such similar laptops release very close to each other have different behavior installing the same drivers.
-
I don't think driver support by nVidia will be a problem, could be the drivers are still beta that's why 260.89 won't work on G73JW and 260.69 not working with G53JW.
-
Perfect fit (as in, there's still a little bit of room left)
And like I mentioned in my review, it's light as a feather when you're carrying it
-
Thanks cloudfire, I know Expert are among the most expensive stores in Sweden but still...they are the only ones that have it so that you can pick it up and get a feeling of what you plan to buy. I just wrote that some retailers still try to sell it at $3850 USD, not that I will buy for that price.
I actually laughed when I saw the price tag on the old version of the G73 at Expert and I thought it would be interesting to mention it here on the forum. That does not mean I will buy a computer from them at that silly price level.
There is not a single store in Stockholm (or Sweden?) where you can actually touch any of the new models of G53/G73 computer in real life.
All your suggestions are from online companies in Sweden that usually don´t keep more expensive products in inventory. Most of them only place an order to the supplier if and when they get an order. The one retailer that tries hard to have a good pricing and keep it in iventory (when it arrives) is WEBHALLEN.com and I shared a link earlier to the G53 model they currently offer.
Currently I feel confused...my wife have approved the purchase of a new gaming machine but so many writes that the old G73 is as fast as the new G53 but it has the 1920x1080 resoluton that G53 don't have. The G53 feels more "portable" to me even if I will never travel with it. I only use a protable to be able to sit in the living room and play and talk to my wife at the same time.
In Sweden you can get teh old G73 for around the same price as the entry G53 and you can get the MSI GX660 for around $300 USD less than the cheapest Asus g-model. Most agree that Asus offer greater quality feel, but comparable speed. -
Tried SC2 with the latest BETA nVidia driver.
Overall, 2vs2/3v3 is fine on ultra. Most custom games are also fine on ultra.
The only custom games that ultra cannot handle is maps like "1 Million Zerg Rush" that have hundreds of units on your screen lol.
Tested on Ultra: Vsync off / Shadows Med. -
I was thinking about the second HD option and noticed the hybrid drives from Seagate. My only current need for SSD is for a fast system boot. Those hybrid drives only have 4GB of SSD dedicated and Windows 7 64-bit requires 20GB. Is there anyway around that since the drive is actually one entity? I have no idea how the hybrid drive works versus a completely separate SSD.
-
Wait until after the new year when the ssd prices drop, and get one then. Supposedly $1 / GB should be the new going rate.
-
I also need some reviews on g53 with SSD installed so I can decide whether to by a cheap one for my g53.
-
OMGOMG you guuuuys!
It shipped <3
I wonder when it will arrive... I'm going to check the estimated arrival date. YAY! I hope it comes this week... aside from seeing Back To The Future in theaters, which was awesome, this week is promising to be a not so pleasant one. A new computer would totally brighten up my mood!
