and another question: does overclocking to a resonable amount (i.e. where card still works at normal temps ~80) is bad for any reason? or is it the same?
example lets say stock 700mhz at 70C and 800mhz at 80C - will this be bad for laptop and card itseld at all?
-
-
-
Haha, heck 9000's too easy
go for 9'5
.
-
catacylsm, did you overclock either your Q9000 or 4850 to get the 6801 score?
6555 definitely stands pretty well against newer laptop - its just seemingly 4850 doesn't do any higher core frequency.
@Mandrake, quit teasing us with default setting man, its getting annoying... -
-
Inverse topic kind of question here -
I was wondering if there are methods for underclocking / volting that would prolong the battery life. Just wondering in case you were mobile and had no access to power if there were significant ways to extend the usage time for simple web / word processing tasks? -
Ati clock tool allows you to underclock AND undervolt the gpu by a little bit as well. I haven't tried it yet, but there is an undervolt dropdown that drops the voltage by a small amount. -
Mandrake, any special tips you can give us about a fresh install of the OS? Did you use the system restore DVD's you burned initially, or did you use some extra copies of W7 you had lying around?
-
-
Mandrake, you mean recovery disk?
-
-
Oh, thanks for the report. Ancious to see some game and overclocked benchmarks!
-
I really want to see overclocked GPU with Crysis Y_Y, someone should make an awesome video with full HD!!

The ASUS seems to be locked so dam tight haha, nice use of heatpipes, although it seems to compacted together in there? Could be wrong.
Dont break the seal!.
-
lol! I didn't even bother trying removing it. Put the screw driver right through it.
-
Haha thats the spirit man, swapping the CPU round man? Or are you looking to just repaste? (I think its cpu.)
-
Yes, 920 going in.
-
She's hot with her clothes off too! -
Proprietary?
-
-
I wanted to try one in a G72 since it's also reverse However
The G72 Uses reverse MXM 2.1 SO no go. -
Dang asus, why oh why must you do this to us!
-
The notch is in the middle. How can you tell? I'll compare it to a 4870 but kids bath first.
-
-
It's exactly the same!
-
Yes, that is how reverse MXM works.
Still can't tell from the pic as it's been a while since I took apart and looked at a regular MXM module. -
wow.
except it's wider than the 4870.
Wonder if it would fit? -
Any way of checking this?
-
It doesn't, the 5870 is too big.
-
That's what I figured. lol
Oh, well. Probably wouldn't boot in the M17x anyway -
drake
How is it getting the system torn down?
Big pain in the arse or what? -
-
Great pics,
Quick question?
What version of the AMD Clock Tool are you guys using? -
Quagmire LXIX Have Laptop, Will Travel!
-
920 is in the machine and Quad is running 06
45-46 idle temps -
13,600 with turbo 13,300 without running 06 .... Thats what i got so far ....
-
920 with HyperX memory
-
will the hyperx memmory even make a slight difference? or is just for heat purposes?
that 920 looks sweeeet -
SWEET!!
Can't wait to see benchmarks
Guess you'll own records until someone else does the same. -
-
that is if anyone is willing to get rid of there 2 year warranty :|
if we done this ourselves and changed the cpu, is it just the cpu warranty that is voided or the entire machine? -
-
-
Lol i didnt even bother to look....
P8532 on Vantage was the final score for Vantage...
Im not posting pics because its nothing special so far... -
Nothing Interesting :/
