Does OCZ freeze have a high viscosity?
When I used ICD7 it was sort of a pain when you applied to much.
    The stuff is like play-do.
    But it does work great.

Yes it's application and clean up is much easier. I never liked the thicker thermal pastes.

just one little random question. When u turn on twin turbo in power4gear or whatever its called , does it force all 4 cores of i7-720qm to run at 2.8GHz or just 2 cores? And if it doesn't do this what does it do? Also what about GPU speed? what does it increase to?

twin turbo is a bclk OC. It doesn't affect your turbo boost multipliers. It changes your bus speed from 133 to 142.

ok... so if i got this clearly , it does something like FSB overclock in core 2 duo... and doesn't force higher turbo multipliers right?

    Also what about GPU?

Sort of but since the memory controller is built into the proc you are also OC'ing your memory at the same time.

I never noticed it do anything with the GPU.

Check what out the gpu clocks? If I turn turbo on it doesn't change. Maybe something in the default OS setup ties it to the card. Regardless you can still change the clocks manually.

Hi all, new owner of an A1 here!

Just wanted to ask something about my GPU temps..

First of all I have the stock drivers installed, that were on the asus disc.

I ran the witcher enhanced (2 year old rpg) on pretty much max settings other than having AA on (dont really need it at that res with everything eles maxed out lol) and played it for about 20min or so (just the starting)

Looking at amd gpu clock tool my max temps were

    80C
    95C
    85C

    !!

    The averages were about 75/85/78

Doesn't that seem a bit too high..? I've been looking at people's benches here where they overclocked the gpu and I've seen lower temps on those!!

Is it possible installing the 10.2 or 10.3 preview drivers would help out a bit..?

Oh, should also mention got a fair bit of screen tearing too!

If anyone would have any input, it would be greatly appreciated!!

I want to run a bench but seeing temps this high there is kinda putting me off of doing it for now.

Just wanna do everything right so this has a long and healthy life =)

    Thanks in advance!!

I benched on a window AC unit...those temps are normal for gaming without a cooler, no worries

As far as drivers, I would go ahead and grab 10.2 of Asus support site. 10.3 is optional

I read that Asus raised the voltage on the HD5870 from 1.15 to 1.35V and that raises the clock speed from 850 to 1035mhz.

    Hmmm anything similar for Mobile?

Mandrake went up to 1.425 V on his QX9300 in the M17 but that had heavily augmented cooling and was outside in the chicago winter

it was still hot as hell

Thanks for the reply trulsrohk! Thatès the second time you replied to me =)

    Appreciate it!

I dlèd the 10.3 mobility preview drivers...first thing Ièm noticing is the idling temps are a bit hotter..!!

Maybe Ièll try out the 10.2instead.. Ièd rather it be cooler then a tiny performance gain..

Does anyone know if putting in new drivers will tamper with the HD audio out capabilities of the gpu card.. I havenèt gotten a chance to try out a br yet!

My symbols are all appearing as an e with an accent over it.. only while typing here, dunno why

Hey Guys, AMD GPU clock tool temp readings don't work, however hwinfo32 does read for the GPU temps.

You need to check the box for "enable" for each diode and then start the readings. If this still doesn't work, you have the wrong version. Should be 9.26.0 or something similar.

I ended up RMA'ing my A2 and ASUS offered me the A1 as a replacement so here's the 3DMark benches out of the box with the A1 stock drivers and with the 10.3a driver upgrade with no overclocking.

Add me to the list of people who have RMA'd the G73. I'm just hoping they actually honor the warranty after the processor switch. If not I'll be hunting for another system again.

I recently took a trip back to my home state of Nebraska to visit family. I noticed that the g73jh seemed to run 3 to 5 degree's cooler on average there. I live in Montana, with the altitude of my home is around 6200 feet. Where I was at in NE it is approximately 1000 feet altitude. So I am approximately a mile higher here where I live. Can the thinner air mean less cooling capability? Everything else was pretty much the same - ambient air temps where the laptop is was approx 65 to 70 F. My only guess is that the thinner air up here in MT means less cooling capability.

Werll I ran the DX11 Heaven benchmark 16x af 8x aa 1920x1080p max everything and my temps were 68, 78, 74 for max temps.

This is using AMD GPU clock tool, does anyone know which temp relates to what?

The keyboard lights and the blue light under the LCD. I checked the cables and they were fine. I tried the FN combo, the hard buttons, reinstalling the app and nothing worked.

Someone else just had this problem. They just had Asus cross ship a new keyboard that included the backlighting assembly and it fixed the issue. This was in the main G73 thread IIRC.

If mine ever goes out I will NOT be sending it in (unless of course I'm having other issues). I will eat the $25 and do it myself. No way I will take the chance of getting it back with "new" problems.
