now that's what we are talking about!!

you have to gage the amps/watts per what you are benching...they will not all take the same the higher you go. this is why we get an idea using wprime first...this lets you know about how much heat and if you can hold the multiplier set. vantage is about 29 seconds first test and 13 for the second test. so 60 seconds stable is usually a good indication from wprime that everything else is a go.... :)

    side note:
    wprime example:

How would I know they are stable ? Just keep a close eye on throttlestop ?

edit: under 8 seconds for the 32M ? Nice !
Mine did it in 43.7 seconds lol

edit2: nvm, figured it out, I was looking at the loadvalues first, but the multiplier is a constant 24 :).

    Ran another Vantage (cpu only):

Another quick sidenote, and its somethin that's really bugging me:
Both of these benches are with the 720qm, and 5870m @ 800x1300:

    2 months ago:

    2 days ago:

Just now, with the 920xm installed:

Check the SM2.0 and the HDR/SM3.0 scores. 2 days ago they went down by 500 points, how can this be explained ?

in your future pictures..it's best to show everything...gpuz/cpuz-/cpuz-memory/cpuz-MB/benchmark. this way we have a better idea how to attack the problem....

looks like your gpu may have given out during or before test 5 and 6...

    edit:
this is something im working on myself...i noticed that if i only run test 5/6 on a fresh start..i get way higher fps and frames rates...vs if the cpu test is allowed to run, then i lose like a 10 fps jump and the score is far lower....wonder if this happens here as well...

Bizarre indeed.. maybe one of the reasons they came up with 3dmark11 :p
Honestly this shouldn't be happening. Didnt see that a few months back, so maybe its interfering with the latest drivers ?

Thanks ^^ guess practice does make perfect.

I've ran the GPU-benchies-only in 3dmark06, and there was no difference in scores to those when I ran all 6 (with CPU-benchies included). So I guess the CPU benchmarks don't have an influence on the bench.

And look at these numbers, which our beloved friend Exsedol supplied for us:

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 video card benchmark result - Intel Core ix,ASUSTeK Computer Inc. G73Jh score: 16887 3DMarks

His 5870m was only OC'd to 800 (i guess, since the site gives a faulty number of 400) x 1100. Mine was 800x1350, and I got lower scores:
I don't think its related to the 920xm, since the benchmark I made 2 days before I installed the 920xm, I already had lower numbers on the GPU scores..

Edit: Would the fact that he uses a lower res (1280x768) would have any effect on the scores ? :p

    it's his resolution. :)

make sure to post to 3dmark.com
so the world knows the g73jh is still in play.

i just checked..that's like 3rd place right now.

Wait, are you saying my 3dmark06 at 16887 is like 3rd place? Or did Schockie pull off some amazing benchmark score since he has a mutated 6970m? :)

... cause I know I could overclock further (but don't want to till I have the Targus adapter) for the video card and CPU.

dont take this the wrong way...but your score is technically void.
you have to bench at default resolution of 1280x1024. and since you have a best buy version...you would need to use an external monitor to bench at the correct resolution... :)

Thank you guys for answering. I'm gonna play a little with GPU clocks and see what happens.

Any tips about how to scale GPU vs Memory clocks or how to check system stability?

Not following you on that one..

Dono for a 720qm, but with a 920xm, this is what I get

    It's not a 19904 cpu-score as Mandrake's, but I am pleased ^^.

    i had a low over clocking 5870M

matter of fact...your pretty close to the world record in that category.

    yes.
your problem is you dont want to put the laptop on an a/c or out side.... once you do that you should be able to not just beat, but smash through their dice runs....

ps: you should be able to get around 140bclk and 25 or 26x multiplier.

2 questions. What do you mean by the first phraze.
    And what are 'dice' runs

    Wouldn't 140bclk increase my temps dramaticly on a 25 or 26 multiplier ?
    I still don't have a 170W adapter, no one's giving feedback :( http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/619148-targus-180w-ac-adapter-3.html

    1st place by hwbot standards.
and dice runs are people who take the laptop apart and put on dry ice pots to run the cpu temp down to - 30 to -74C

Nope, does not bother me as I actually did not want one I can game in the dark without one and it ruins the atmosphere for me I just like to see the screen.

The newer clevo/sager version is coming with a multicoloured keyboard though.

    Nice job Inferno1217

The core should not be a problem. I was able to set it to 860 with my 5870. The problem is mem. and well 1135 over the limit for some ppl.

After my first repaste i was able to go upto 1150 a few days but then the last stable settings were 860/1100.

Thanks! I think I tried 875/1175 and crashed. I might push it further tomorrow. This GPU is far better than the one I had in my other G73 max 775/1075.

Been looking for a mV increase my temps are good 80c. Do you know how to up the mV?

Last i remember it is hardwired to the card only 0,95v and 1, something v was it and you can not set it to any other value. Cant remember but someone was able to set the value but the card only read 0,95 and 1,xx v

Well keep the mem. at 1125 and go up with the core. I remember when i did the extreem cooling mod (A/C) i was running vantage at 870/1190 something it got anomalies in the graphics (not artifacts). It crashed at the end saying that unknow fault and vantage was not able to complete the bench. I think it was due to the voltage as it could not have been the GPUs temp beeing only 45c :D

with my dell card I was able to hit 888 core and 1320 mem rock solid stable , but its not possible with my clevo card , but I bricked my dell card with a fail vbios flash.

I could push my clevo card up to 845 but it gets downclocked . voltage max possible with clevo = 1.15 but with dell 1.19 . dell is a great card , my powersupply suffers when im benching.

It seems like your card is still using the Asus vbios, is this test taken after you inserted the Clevo 5870m vbios into the bios using MMTool?

    yes mate !
to whatever the vbios I try to flash it still shows as asus even though I replace the bios with clevo vbios it still shows as asus , there must be something else causing this issue , same thing was with my dell card , it also was displaying asus, if we find it out then we have the fix.

but when it comes to real world overclocking :
results will be more than the power of that card .
