Done, check op.
Every1 who update it, report everything please! Especially the new changes+does it fix GSOD...

Will do his right now
This come directly from asus? -
-
OK flashed it no problem using ez-flash. and a fat16 usb key (1gb)
Vbios version did not change. Im currently testing gsod issues.
Edit: Gsod is still present as I feared... because the vbios was not updated.
Only difference I can see is the thermal policy. GPU run cooler. -
-
im on 10.7a. I don't think its mater much tho.
Only thing I see with this bios is the gpu fan change.
ANd since the gpu is cooler, it "may" help some of us with the gsod. But the real fix for me is the MSI / Clevo bios but we loose HDMI :/ -
Flashed also and it does not seem to do much to help the temps. Im still going over 90C.
IC Diamond paste on GPU and CPU from xoticpc -
How much lower are your temps or do you mean the fan kicks in full blast sooner or later? Can you be more precise?
-
Youre saying that using the MSI or Clevo vBios youre 100% stable withot GSODs - did you test it with furmark too?
Could you upload and pm me or post links to these two vBios files (ive got some MSI and Clevo ones, but they could be older/newer)?
I wonder if there is a way to somehow make HDMI and VGA work on the Clevo or MSI vBios on our machines... -
the fan kicks in full(well not sure if its full tho) blast sooner
Using the MSI bios, im 100% stable in everything im doing. (including furmark in extended period of time)
So im totally unable to make it GSOD with this bios.
Only downside is the HDMI ( dont know for VGA).
here is the link to my skydrive you will find the vbios here: Vbios
At your own risk (recommend flashing in dos-mode) -
how can temps be lower??? underclock the gpu somehow??
-
Fan speed go higher earlier.
-
thats awesome!! can somone post it on megaupload or pm me the 211 please to test
-
Look at the first post of this thread.
I still recommend that we all wait to the official release tho. so its at our risk to do it. -
I would as a recommendation before going to the 211 and up official or non-official bios; to put back the original vbios from asus just in case the update procedure check this or may prevent to update the vbios in the future if the current vbios is unrecongnize.
sry for my english btw. its not my first language. -
I thought we heard from Drevan and Ken that Asus increased the temperature to something higher before the fans kicked in; or did things get lost in interpretation and the fans kick in sooner at lower temps.
-
I don't really notice anything. Was looking through the bios and thought if we should enable or disable VT-D, VMM and TDT. I'm thinking we don't use those features. I wonder why is it so hard for asus to make a damn vbios.

yaaaay now ill only hit 105 in starcraft not 110

anyone else try the BIOS 211??

Thanks for the upload wagnard. Ill give it a try.

I thought the OP had the first bios211 drevan got the big one that hellcry split up etc etc. where is the download for the new one he just got today???

lower temps for you too smile gerard?
-
-
Yep, link in op is the new one.
-
can you flash back to 209 after updating to 211 if you wanted... is that easy in the bios?
-

Nope,it's not easy as far as I know

Updated bios using EZflash and 1Gb flash drive. Keyboard lights are on. Everything went smooth.
Asus indeed decreased GPU core temp for 100% fan. It was somewhere 84.5-85C, now it's 81-82C.Recalling overheating G73 for TIM change will cost them, but decreasing temps of full fan speed is much cheaper.
BTW I am sure that this bios without any modifications will appear on Asus site as it was with 209 bios. -
I still dont think a new vbios is going to fix anything. There are people like me that are running the stock VBIOS and havent had a single GSOD ever with ANY of the drivers.
Its hardware. -
have ur keyboard lights always been functioning? even during the 209 bios update?
-
-
-
haha how fortunate! i was on stock 206. because i rma-ed my unit i asked them to upgrade to 209 for me and when it came back lights were killed, and i assume the "tech's" downgraded it back to 206 hoping i wont notice the keyboard lights were gone.

Thanks goodness there is msi vbios around so I can flash it to fix my gsod problem. Sure it kills my hdmi and vga, but I seldom use hdmi, let alone vga. Now the question lies can ASUS provide their own vbios to fix the problem. It can be hardware, or vbios for all I know. But one thing for sure that msi vbios fix gsod for me when I install 10.7a. I wouldn't be able to install 10.7a and play games without gsod within seconds.

this is a real bummer... but i guess that i just to make sure that the reseller tests my G73 with new drivers before sending it to me?
-
*Shrugs* -
Is there anyone out there that would have the knowledge to take out the vBios part that makes HDMI and VGA work and somehow edit that into the MSI or Clevo vBios? -
Weird... For me, compared to 209 BIOS, the 211 version has increased the average idle temp by 2c (from 64c/74c/68c to 66c/76c/70c, DispIO/MemIO/Shader respectively). Of course a repaste job has to be done, but I'm a little bit confused about how the new BIOS adjust the GPU fan speed exactly, since some guys here already reported that it has maked their GPUs cooler.
-
I just tested the 211 bios myself (Flashed with EZFlash from a 4gb FAT32 formatted USB drive).
The only thing that seams to be changed is the fan settings, and they do squat to lower temperatures for me. I still idle at the same temperatues and furmark stil reaches the same peak of 94C. The fans run louder on idle and start going to full blast at 79C instead of 84C and do nothing to lower the temperatures really, so i consider this bios a downgrade. Just makes the laptop louder which i do not care for...
Downgrading back to 209... -

With my temps, the 211 BIOS is pointless
