Does anyone know of a checkpoint friendly laptop bag that will fit the G750JH? Originally I was looking at the Alienware Orion Backpack but I can't find a store that sells the m18x version locally - in either Australia or Taiwan (m17x version is available but is apparently too small in terms of DXH).
Edit: I found a store in Australia that sells the m18x version, but after reading some reviews it seems as though the backpack will show signs of wear and tear supposedly after a couple months of use - not sure about the Orion Messenger.
If there are any other alternatives besides the Alienware Orion, I'd be pleased to take a look at it.
-
Don't know if it's checkpoint-friendly, but the Targus XL backpack worked beautifully for my G73JH.

On another note, I noticed recently that the Taiwan SKUs are offering Killer Wireless NIC (although I would prefer 802.11ac for that extra future proofing) and apparently come bundled with a backpack, mouse and what I believe are a pair of headphones. -

So by checkpoint friendly you mean easy to get the machine out? Most places will want to take it out of the bag regardless of the type of bag.
-
I've also given it some thought, might just get a seperate sleeve (like the one the G750 comes packaged in) instead - considering a backpack is already provided and since there's no guarantee that checkpoints outside the US will follow the same regulations. -
I've had my G750JW a while, but I just noticed today that one of the features they removed from the previous G series was the user replaceable intake fan filters. On my last Sony laptop, I had a TREMENDOUS temp reduction when I cleaned the heatsink fins after about 4 years of use. On that machine, getting to the fins was very easy. Does anyone know, is it also just a matter of loosening about a dozern screws on the bottom of the laptop to get to the heatsink? I was also thinking of taping a filter to the bottom of the machine, but that would be a little untidy (does anyone recommend that?)

My suggestion is to buy a can of compressed air and use SHORT bursts into the vents every couple months to prevent the formation of dust clumps that cut off airflow.. Make sure you don't let the fans spin up faster than the speed they are designed for or you might damage them.
By the way, has anyone figured out yet where the air INTAKE is? It's obviously not on the bottom... -

Hi Guys, just found out that are starting to sell the G750JH in a shop in singapore.

Since one week i also own a ASUS G750JH "ASUS G750JH CV090H-BE-FAST"
My previous laptop was a clevo PH170 with GTX 485m, up til now a very good gaming laptop still it was time for a upgrade.
After numerous options to compare, I ended up with the Asus G750JH.
And waauw what a beast! until now i still have no regrets buying this laptop.
I paid 1,749€ paid during a promo weekend!!! normally it cost € 1,899. "Currently € 1,946"
For the model without SSD you had to pay 1599€ during the promo weekend, Currently 1799€
The laptop was complete with backpack, mouse and 3D vision glasses!
specs:
Intel: 4700HQ
16GB RAM
GTX 780m
17.3 "Full HD 3D screen
Killer 1202 Wifi a / b / g / n 300Mbs
EVO Samsung 256GB SSD
750 GB HD, WD
DVD-R
webcam
Speakers + Subwoofer
My first impressions:
-overall build quality.
very good.
the laptop feels very sturdy and creaks nowhere. the screen is easy to open and close.
Connections are easy to use, its very easy to remove hard drive's
-Sreen:
in one word fantastic! The colors are very natural, the brightness is very high ideal when using the 3D vision glasses "through the use of the 3D glasses you lose 30% brightness"
The 120Hz make everything smoother! never thought I was going to notice it. so hard
-CPU
Its the new intel haswell generation, so its fast! very fast!
Thanks to the good cooling the CPU runs almost always at 3.2 Ghz to 3.94 Ghz.
Under heavy load i got cpu temps around 67°
-GPU
this is without doubt the best piece of hardware in this notebook!!!
it's insane fast for a mobile GPU, i have tested BF3, Crysis 3, Metro LL, Counterstrike GO, all run great at the highest settings "somtimes whitout AA"
Gpu temps during gameplay :71 -75°
-Input:
the keyboard is very good a lot better than the keyboard of my clevo.
Its nice to have a backlit keybord
but you have to turn the lights off when you go into 3D gaming during the dark otherwise you can see the LEDs flicker.
The touchpad is good, but I do not use it. I use the included mouse from Asus.
-Sound.
The speakers are doing a good job, they go loud without distortion of the sound.
One problem I have is the fact that the volume of the headphone output is extremely loud.
I can set the volume max to 15% otherwise i go deaf! "steelseries headset"
-Hard drive and SSD
Its the Samsung 840 EVO crystalmark 518/421 MB/sec
-Emission:
For a gaming laptop its safe to say silent
-Overclocking:
I get 980mhz out of the GTX780m on the GPU and 5500Mhz on the VRAM
Max gpu temp during gameplay 80°c very safe

Good price !!! Where in Europe did you buy, in Germany I have yet to see the model ?
-
My g750jx just arrived right now, my only concern is the box came really beat up and also the sticker that says the specs is not in perfect condition but everything else seemed to be okay. The asus tape was not broken, so that was good news, I don't think there will be any defects. The build quality is really good, and like the laptop so far. I hope there are no defects because that is a gripe that would make me angry, but the screen seems to not flicker at all which is great. The keyboard is really good, even though the there is flex, there is very little and not noticeable really. I really like the machine so far. The brushed aluminum really does pick up dust, that cloth that it comes with should never be lost.

Has anyone been having problems with Killer Wireless? Although a lot of users on the Alienware forums have reported issues with Killer Wireless I have yet to see MSI owners with any problem, so it may be limited to specifically Alienware configurations only.
Just wanted to know if I should opt for a different wireless nic before having any headaches post-purchase. -
I'm having no problems with my Killer 1202, he just pauses my NZB downloads while gaming.
But like steve jobs say's its not a problem ist a feature ! -
-
Anyone experiencing the fan skip in pace? I just noticed the can only machine will stop for a half second so then stop for a half second. Very strange.

I have read quite a few complaints about the matte panel in the G750JH. I have seen the matte panel on a G750JW but there are so many models I can't be sure it's the same one used on the JH. Could someone who owns a matte-screened G750JH please post some pictures that show the viewing angles on the panel? This is more of a concern for me than graininess.
-
-
Actually I was concerned about the wireless network card is not one with ac wifi. Also it seems that this is the only G750JH model that Asus is bringing into Singapore.
Does anyone know if its totally possible for me to buy a separate wifi card with ac capabilities to change out the original wifi card in this G750JH?
Any recommendation of the ac wifi card and how much?
Thanks in advance. -
Viewing angles can be seen here. Careful this is with the Chi Mei panel, Asus also uses the AUO 219D which has worse vertical viewing angles, but a less grainy anti-glare coating. -
-
I am really looking forward to buy this laptop. Does anyone know when the GTX 780m version will be available in the Netherlands ?
-
I have the g750jx matte and the panel looks pretty decent, I might be biased because it is the first anti glare panel I've owned and is very comparable to my previous zenbook with a 1080p ips glare panel.

If you have experience in disassembling laptop, you can replace the wireless network card.
The only wireless ac network card that I know you can replace is the Intel 7260HMW IEEE 802.11ac since I replaced it in my G750JX. It works great so far.
You can find one on eBay or Amazon New Intel 7260HMW IEEE 802 11AC Mini PCI Express Bluetooth 4 0 Wi Fi Bluetooth | eBay -
So, as I previously posted, my G750JW screen developed a horizontal line right across the center of the screen. This was a US unit, purchased in the USA, with an international warranty. One of the main reasons I chose Asus was because it had an international warranty, and I live in the Philippines, and there are various Asus service centers out here. So I called up Asus, and I spoke to a live and very knowledgeable and helpful person in about a minute (impressive). She indicated that I could take the computer to ANY authorized Asus dealer in the country, and there was one about 5 minutes from my home, which is actually in a quite a remote place (also impressive). I told her that since this was an expensive computer, I would rather have it fixed directly by Asus, and she gave me a couple of Asusworld centers in Manila. She told me that the compter would be fixed within 5 business days (in this country, that is impressive indeed!). So I drove to an Asusworld in Manila, which has a showroom up from for antique Asus models (their showcase desktop model was a windows 7 computer with 2Gig of ram that took forever to boot up (not so impressive), but they had a service center in the back. I asked him if it was possible to have the screen changed to a glossy screen, to which he just gives me a puzzled look and shakes his head. oh well. Anyway, he writes up the service order, but puts down that the laptop is a G75 (I doubt this guy has ever even heard of a G750, let alone seen one). The guy then told me that a new screen would take 3 to 4 weeks to arrive, and knew nothing about a 5 day turnaround, but no big deal as I could still use the laptop and I would just wait for the screen to arrive. However, 2 days later, I got a call that the screen was in! Apparently, the international warrantly gets special treatment, and the 5 day turnaround is correct (right after I make this posting, I think I will buy the extended warrantly. It is good to have out here). So, I go back to Manila to get the screen replaced, drop of the laptop, and pick it up about 90 minutes later. And low and behold, it has a glossy screen!!!!! I can hardly contain my excitement. I ask him if he requested the glossy screen, but he did not. My guess is that since he put down G75 as the model number on the service request, they sent a G75 screen. So, here is my impression of my new screen.
It is FAR better than the matte screen. I have gone from liking my laptop, to loving it. However, I have to note that this screen has a lot of glare. Now, before you say "well duh, it is a glossy screen, so what do you expect", I have to point out that neither my current 5 year old sony laptop display, or my 3 year old AOC monitor, has any glare, and neither has the specklement that the original Asus monitor displayed (reading black text on a white background was worse than any other monitor I have ever seen in my life). In fact, I would say that both the Sony and AOC screen are matte screens, but produce a nice picture. But Asus has something weird going on with their displays. Their Glossy screen is too glossy and has too much glare, and their matte is just, well, awful. I have used countless displays going back about 30 years, and before this experiance, have never even noticed glossy versus matte screens. Some monitors was obviously brighter, better, clearer, or had better contrast than others, but matte or glossy was never an issue.
But to be clear, even with the glare, the glossy screen if far better than the matte screen. The glare is not distracting (unless maybe you use the laptop right in front of a window with the sun shinning on it), but I found the matte sceen very distracting. And while I am unable to compare the two screens side by side, this glossy screen certainly appears much brighter, the colors seem much more vivid , and overall, it is just much nicer to look at. -
I read on the ROG forum that on the 2nd batch of JH they had 'fixed' the screen issue (for the matte screens). Dunno what they mean, we just have to wait for someone who bought a new JH (nordic countries should have gotten the 2nd batch only) to tell us the modelnr of the screen.
-
Just one more thing to point out. The glare on the glossy screen is much more pronounced when the picture is dark, while the problems with matte screen are only an issue when the background is white. Because I am not a gamer, and bought this machine for graphic design and general business, the glossy screen is obviously much better for me. But since (I assume) games generally have darker backgrounds, I could see how for a gamer, a matte screen could be preferred. But since this is gaming forum, you guys would know more about that then me.
-
I am so happy i don´t see a difference between a Mate and a glossy screen... except the mate or glossy touch ...
-
I'm really interested in the G750JH, primarily because of all the praise it got for its fan noise. Is the notebook really that (relatively) silent during gaming sessions (Battlefield, Crysis,...)? However, in the notebookcheck review of the G750JW, it has been said that the optical drive was too loud, overpowering the fan system. Is this also the case with the G750JH?
-
, wasted of space if you ask me, i rather have another HD.
By the way, I just tested it for out for you and honestly I do not think it is louder than the average optical laptop drive.
Cheers,
A proud Asus G750JH owner -

You can replace the ODD with your own model if you want too.

Interesting facts about the GTX 780M in the G750JH models:
The G750JH Customized GTX 780M Graphics Card And Cooling | Republic of Gamers -
I've got two new questions:
- I've read you can't reach the fans and you have fan filters instead. Is this a possible reason for concern, or is this fan filter construction enough?
- How about driver support? Will I be able to install all future Nvidia graphics drivers, or will I have to depend on Asus? -
I heard on the asus rog forums, nvidia updated their drivers so they now support g750 without having to modify them. -
-
It's really quiet around the internet regarding the US release of the G750JH. My G73JW took a nasty fall two weeks ago and now the video is all messed up. Been looking to buy since then. Can't hardly wait!
-
Just got my G750JH nordic edition, with matte non3D screen. It got AUO B173HW02 V1 screen, so the info on rog forum seems to be right, they changed out the matte screen on the later batches.
-
Getting close to a US release. I just chatted with customer service at XoticPC and they still have no info from Asus. They don't know which model of the JH they will be receiving. Excalibur listed the DB71 for sale on their site today and the specs say "anti-glare" screen. Website does not say if it is in stock or not. People are saying September 15th is the release date, but that is a Sunday. Xotic said the word from Asus was "Mid-September". So, maybe tomorrow or Monday we will hear something.
Still wondering about the screen and SSD configuration for the official US release version. -
The anti glare screen is very scary, it could be very grainy and smudgy. I wish Asus still offers a clear and vivid high quality glossy panels as default.
-
I am interested in the G750jh does it have at least one 2.5in hard drive slot for a ssd? I know I can take out the optical and put in a caddy but I need at least the one 2.5in besides that.
-
-
Right on. That means I can make it work for me. I have a g75 now with 3 OCZ vertex 4 512gb drives. One is in a caddy where the optical drive. So with the g750gh I can still use 2 but have to buy 2 msata ssd drives to make up the difference. I am just not buying till I can get a decent glossy screen. I pretty much know what all the HD 17.3" screens are like because they are so long in the tooth now. Quality has not better than what it was a couple years ago. It is actually worse especially getting stuck with anything matte. The Chi Me glossy wasn't to bad nice white but they are hard to find same with the AUO B173H01 V.4 that I use now and need a new one. I might try 120hz again like I had in a Samsung gamer but that one even had problems.
-
Why did we have to leave it to the Mac crowd to break through the 1920x1080 barrier on laptops?
-
I am okay with 1920x1080 I just want a decent quality screen and those are pretty rare.
